20. The Edge –
Responsible for that jangly, bright, steady freight train of a guitar that has defined U2's sound for more than two decades.
And he owns one of the coolest, and simultaneously, most retarded names ever.

19. Dick Dale – The surf
guitar king. Known mainly for “Misirlou”,
which our generation identifies as the song in the opening credits of Pulp Fiction.

18. Les Paul – The guy
is the namesake of arguably the most famous Gibson guitar in the world.

17. John Mayer – I
know what you’re thinking. Let me
clarify: I’ve seen him live. Amazing blues guitar player and easily one of
the best alive today. Passionate to the
point where you can tell the man’s in love with his guitar when he plays.

16. John Frusciante –
The most tenured Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist has a unique style that blends
and shines at the same time. “Under The
Bridge” is one of my favorite riffs of all time.

15. Jeff Beck – One of
the first electric guitarists in the 60’s to give birth to distortion. Sick in his own right, the advances he started
have influenced legions of the great guitarists today.

14. Joe Satriani – “Surfing
With the Alien”. Absolutely unreal.

13. Jonny Lang – Kid Blues,
who started as a young prodigy, has only gotten better with age. “Smokin’” is still one of the slickest modern blues
albums I’ve ever heard.

12. Tom Morello –
Capitan of the pulsating, heavy and vibrant drive behind Rage Against the
Machine and Audioslave. If you haven’t
heard “Killing in the Name”, give that one a listen.

11. Duane Allman – “Jessica”. You’ll get the idea.

10. Carlos Santana –
For greater than 30 years, Santana’s black
magic has charmed everyone. A true living
legend who even made Matchbox 20 and Michelle Branch sound better.

9. Slash – Who doesn’t
know the opening solo for “Sweet Child o’ Mine” or the thunderous bounce of “Welcome
to the Jungle”? Bow down to the top hat,
sunglasses and dangling cigarette.

8. Prince – If you
missed the Super Bowl last year, he’s been around forever, is better than
Michael Jackson and can play dozens of instruments. To top it off, he rocks a guitar shaped like
his symbol that can put practically anyone to shame.

7. Steve Vai – One word: NASTY.
Watch him take on Ralph Macchio (aka The
Karate Kid) at the end of Crossroads,
where Vai plays the devil in a battle for Daniel-san's soul. Yes, it sounds as stupid as it is amazing.

6. Eddie Van Halen – “Eruption”
is one of the most mind-blowing instrumentals I’ve ever heard. I can die happy if I ever learn to play it
note for note.

5. Jimmy Page – Led
Zeppelin’s axe master. His guitar
playing is probably solely responsible for a generation of babies born in the 70's UK.

4. B.B. King – The one
and only. An origi-nal. And you don’t f*** with an original.

3. Eric Clapton – Limewire
or search for “Classical Guitar”. Listen
to “Crossroads” by Cream. Or “Cocaine”. Or “Layla”.
Clapton is king.

2. Stevie Ray Vaughan
– He left us before he really had the chance to shine. Stevie Ray bled the blues, made us cry a “Texas
Flood”, walked the “Tightrope”, “Scuttle-buttin’” his way to cementing a
bittersweet legacy.

1. Jimi Hendrix – All
hail. Another who died too young at the tender age of 27. Nothing can be said other than he was the
best of the best. Will we ever hear or
see talent, skill or soul like that again? The wind cries... Jimi.

Honorable mentions:
David Gilmour, Ace Frehley ("I'll give YOU a P-and-L statement!"), Joe Perry, Chuck Berry, Albert Hammond, Jr., Angus Young, Kirk Hammett, Pete Townsend, George Harrison, Rich Robinson

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

PARKWAY SOUTH STRIKES BACK

revamped website =)

check out our myspace soon for new music

10.26.07 Fri 11PM

show info

After 1+ yrs on hiatus, we're back with the original lineup and new material. If you can make our first jersey show in over a year, we'd love to see you.

cheers.

In the ears:
Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light (my pic for Album of the Year)
The Police - Synchonicity
Guns & Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Interpol - Our Love To Admire

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

On Wednesday April 4, 2007

Place: Matsuri (16th St - 9th Ave. - Maritime Hotel)

Time: 7PM - whenever

Reason: I'm getting old - entering my late 20's

Agenda: Drinks

If you can come, much appreciated. Gracias.

Monday, September 26, 2005

this happened years ago, and for some reason, thought about it while on the train this morning...

a co-worker / friend (who shall remain nameless) got into trouble one night and ended up losing a prominent tooth as a result... well, months passed, and eventually he had a prosthetic substitute attached to a retainer-like device put in prior to his actual implant...

one morning when we were all called into a meeting, everyone takes their seat at the table and before the big boss comes in, we were discussing the weekend and catching up with the rest of the team... it comes to my friend, and they ask him how his weekend went...

before he could get out two syllables, the "tooth" flies out of his mouth and onto the conference room floor... the look on everyone's face, including another friend / co-worker, was beyond hilarious

it's so wrong, but i couldn't stop laughing for a good month at the mere thought of it...

and especially now, when i'm wishing that work could be as carefree, fun and downright amusing as it used to be...

----------------------------

well, just for the record, i still have much love for this person~ guess it wasn't too hard to figure out

Wednesday, September 21, 2005

I haven't updated all summer... so I guess some highlights are in order:

1) Works just... sucks
2) Will moves out
3) Ensuing bad luck: public drunkeness, trying to find a new apt, drama, re-evaluation
4) Broker screws us (me and justin) out of an apt for too much money

Things started to get better slightly:

4) Michael, an unknown, sublets and turns out to be a chill German dude [when I did see him]
5) Found a new place in the upper east
6) The Alex strikes back... with Janie in tow
7) Band is slowly recording new record, which sounds NASTY... i luv it
8) Visited Dallas
9) Winning consistently w/ online poker (pointless, yes, i know)

Downhill:

10) Moving out of 71 Broadway - deposit for moving out, screwed on security deposit, paying for cost to break down a wall, repairs that we should never pay for
11) 4 Chicago trips in 1 month - and NOT for fun
12) Katrina
13) Lost money at Foxwoods

It's not so bad in the end... as it could be so much worse... nonetheless, i'll wait for the time when things start looking on the up-and-up and when it does i will be out there in full force, helmet and all

Crazy british people...

Currently listening to: "Bonehead's Bank Holiday" by Oasis / Noel Gallagher

Well, I need a little break to get away for a holiday / So I can see the sun / Cos in the sun they say it's fun / If you get some / Well, I can take a train or a boat or an aeroplane / Or I can steal a car / Cos in a car you can go far / Just depends what kind of car you are

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la / What kind of car you are

I met a funny-looking girl in a crowded beach in Spain / Her name was Avaline / She said she came to Spain to have a good time / But she was with her mum who had a face like a nun in pain / She said her name was Dot / She didn't half talk a lot / I couldn't tell if she was mad or not

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la / Mad or not

And don'tcha know / I should've stayed in England / With my polluted beach and all my special friends / And don'tcha know / I should've stayed in England / With me big house / And me big car / And all my friends are there at the bar

Monday, May 09, 2005

Everyone,
