The
church I go to is so awesome! It's huge, first off... but the heart is so great. I love that we don't have to take up special offerings to do service projects. For example: on Mother's Day, a lot of churches give flowers to the moms. My church back home would sometimes give away special flowers to the oldest mother present or the mother with the most children there. Well, Newspring gave two very special gifts this year. Last year they gave a house to a single mom. This year, they gave a house to a single mom and they gave a van that was wheelchair accessible to a woman who is older and has a son who is wheelchair bound. This mother and son are always at church, even though she had to get him out of his chair, lift him mostly by herself into the car, fold up the chair to put it in the vehicle, and then do the reverse when they got to church. Now, all she has to do is press a button for a ramp to come down out of the van, roll him into the vehicle, close the door and they're on their way. And the mom who got a house has a neat story. Her fiancee left her after she got pregnant and her parents took her in. She's been living with them ever since. Her parents helped raise the baby and he's now in high school and active in our youth group. They've continued to live with her parents and apparently there were jokes about her son moving out before she did. Now she has a house and the church is also covering all the bills for a year.
That's what a church should be: generous enough in giving that they can be generous to the community. I'm proud to be a part of Newspring Church.
In other news... I have a part time job. I'm the admin assistant for HR at Kravet Fabrics. It's close, it's 20 hours a week. It's a place to start. It may turn into full-time, but for now, it helps some. Tupperware hasn't quite picked up the way I'd hoped, but I still don't know many people.
And I'm raising money for an orphanage in Haiti if anyone wants to contribute. :)
