Guess WhatHairspray on Broadway was really good... but just not as good as I expected it to be. I was, however, pretty impressed with the cast:
Ashley Parker Angel

I was NEVER a fan of his. But after seeing him last night, I'm giving him another chance. I think he's finally found his calling. And he was actually pretty attractive, too. Maybe it was just the Elvis 'do that was talking to me.
Paul Vogt

Hilarious. He really is a believable transvestite.
Jere Burns

This guy hasn't changed one bit from his days of Dear John. When he came out on stage everyone knew that they'd seen him on TV before but they couldn't tell from where. I was obsessed with Dear John so I knew.... but it showed a generation gap when the guy in front of me recalled him being on Bob.
Tevin Campbell

My teenage hearthrob. When I saw his name in the playbill before the show.... I almost screamed. I turned to Mike and said.... "do you know who Tevin Campbell is??????" He looked at me like I had 3 heads. And let me tell you, he's still a definite hearthrob. He needs to come out with a new album. He was this close to us at one point (the cast ran down the aisle and Mike had the aisle seat). And just watching him sing and sweat.... mmmmmm. T.E.V.I.N.
.........................
I wanted to try and meet up with OBM while she was in town... but the show was super long and we were super tired. So we just headed to Hoboken to walk back to our car. We walked along the waterfront and it was just a beautiful night out. The Empire State Building was white and purple for some reason. Those colors are for Alzheimer's Association... but I'm not quite sure if that's why it was lit that way. It was a warm evening and just so relaxing after a VERY busy day.
The skyline looks something like this... but much better in person:

And...
Mike proposed.
We're engaged!
Can I get an amen???
I'll follow-up with pictures when I get a chance to take some.
ETA: Crappy cell-phone pictures for now:

PS: Tevin is still too skinny... but I'd take him. |
