See What I Mean About Thoughtful!!

Last week, Secret Santa sent these . . . so thoughtful. Apparently she knows I am a Christian and she knows that I've had a career in publishing and love books. The card has a moving sentiment, and the bookmarks have quotes from scientists (Einstein and Leibniz) about God!

Then today these were delivered by the mailman. A Christmas Tree ornament from a (native?) pine cone, wherever Secret Santa lives . . . . and, and, and . . . a lovely cross made out of Scrabble tiles! Scrabble tiles! Does she know that I'm addicted to online Scrabble! Wonderful!

And this!! She copied my family picture from last fall -- the one that includes grandson-in-law -- printed the picture and put it in this wonderful Christmas frame.

Is anybody more thoughtful than this?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Secret Santa!

Ooohhhhh, ooohhhhhh, ohhhhh! My Secret Santa must be the most thoughtful gift-giver in the world! I don't know yet who he or she is, but his/her family has a jewel and no doubt appreciates such thoughfulness!!

I won't post a picture now because I can't find my camera in all this wrapping and packing mess. Besides, everybody else will be envious!

So, tomorrow I'm off to Ohio to visit the family with the most people in that family picture I posted last year. Besides Christmas, we'll be making bride's maid's dresses for eldest grandchild's forthcoming wedding this summer.

Off I go in the morning, sewing machine and notions in tow!!

Merry Christmas to all of you, especially Secret Santa!!

Quilt 5 is done, done, done . . . and it's going to Ohio

Quilt 5 was finished last night. The picture IMGP0323
is sorta crappy. The quilt looks a lot better in person. It's mostly purple and brown and green, and it's warm, warm, warm because it has warm, warm, warm batting. Definitely not a Texas quilt. The brown/gold one that was displayed at last year's quilt show is headed for Texas. The black/white one is a disappointment. I tried it on my bed and it is entirely too large. It needs a king-king size bed. The calico one is staying here for now.

However, all the quilt recipients can mix and match and trade as more quilts get made. None of them have a recipient's name on them.

As I'm going to bring my favorite daughter back to the snowy heartland, perhaps I should pile all the quilts in the car lest we get stranded alongside icy roads. Funny how we laugh at the people who tell us to carry extra blankets, a flashlight, other emergency stuff. Some years ago, in a snow/sleet storm, when my car just slowly slid of the road into a deep, deep ditch I could see the wisdom in the admonitions to "be prepared." Thankfully, a young man on his way to work at a fast food place saw me and gave me a ride to a nearby town, where I called some complete strangers to stay the night . . . . but that's another story that is too long to tell.

Yup, the warm quilts are going into the car!

Family Quilt Project

Here's my latest endeavor. Four (almost four) done; only eight to go. Family Quilt Project. Be sure to click "Play Slideshow" for a close-up look. The idea was appealing enough to family members that I've committed to making 12!
