Yippee

Well, to everyone who knows my chronic 'cookie' problem (cookies that turn out looking more like potato chips!!) I have finally done it!

We have company coming tomorrow, so I tried again and HOLY COW they turned out!  For me the recipe on the back of the butter box works better than the one on the back of the chocolate chip bag.  Go figure.  Don't you wish you were here?

I ran 5 this morning, and darn it was cold 37 degrees! But RRS makes awesome winter gear and I wasn't even miserable!!  My knees barely hurt and aren't bothering me afterwards, so that's a bonus too.

We slept in (6:00) and so Patrick had to scramble to work, but he's got a rather easy day anyway.  An Officer Professional Developement and an O'Call and then we have a chili cookoff Hail and Farewell to go to. The last one was pretty fun. We're playing Bunco, which I have no idea  how to play and the 'dollar game'.  We'll see.

That's about it today.  I've been listening to JP America while I work around here and she's been taking calls about John Kerry's idiotic comments.  Maybe this will propel Republicans to vote out of sheer anger and fear of a Democratic House.  Yikes!!

Love you all!

DUH!

OK, if you click on Photos at the top of the screen you can see at least 3 of my new pics.  I'm so rotten with a camera, when I remember that I even have it with me!

Happy 1 November Everyone!!

Just a quick 'everyone' note, since I have 3 'communication' venues that various friends use and require me to have accounts with inorder to chit-chat!!

Running again - hallelujah - and praise the Lord (seriously)!! In Wichita I had some really rough knee problems.  My IT band was acting up and I had no idea what to do about it.  Reading and asking questions led to some answers and I remembered sticking some kind of insert into my shoes about a month ago.  Just trying to extend the life of the insole.  WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT USE THE STUPID '2-MINUTE MIRACLE'!!!  I firmly  believe that is what turned my wonderful Asics to painful I don't know whats.  OH, www.itbs.info is really helpful too!

Took them out today and wella!! I ran 8 with the guys, fast and virtually pain-free, so for my runner relatives and friends, just an idea.

OK, Patrick had his last 2 wisdom teeth pulled on Monday. Poor guy, they brutalized his mouth!  Took out one of them in like 4 pieces!!  He stayed home all day yesterday, with a good book and a new computer game.  He went in this morning, but a little late.  He says Percaset (sp) is overrated!!

I'm running a 10k this weekend at Flat Rock park.  We also have a Hail and Farewell on Friday and maybe dinner plans with friends Saturday night.  Also, we'll be back to routine church on Sunday. We've been out of the loop lately with my travels home to KS and such.  Last night I did go and help with the Fall Festival.  I manned the balloon pop and handed out candy at the Trunk or Treat.

That's generally the update.  Not much else going on.  Patrick is going to get a shot at Scuba School (pre-scuba next month).  He's excited as this is a rare opportunity.

I guess that's all for now.  I don't have my pics from KS uploaded yet, but I'll get them soon so you can see Chelle, Jordan and me being crazy and Kelsey let me sneak a few pics of her too, hiding behind Duke!

Love you all.

goings on...

Stepped up my running a little bit actually.  I was pushing the guy's group the other day!! I was so excited when I realized I was leading the pack!  Then I started wheezing  !  I'm thinking about running the Disney marathon in January.  Pretty dang cold, but it sounds so much fun and if you're running in the park, can it really be that bad?

We've had 2 formal events lately.  A big dinner at the Officer's Club -insanely boring! and then a kind-of meet and greet at the General's house.  That was actually fun. It was only an hour and I like short and sweet!  Funny though.  I bought a dress for the dinner and planned to wear it to both events.  But I guess I've grown a little around the chest (not the boobs unfortunately) with pullups.  When Patrick zipped it for me, I thought, 'this is tigher than when I tried it on'.  Part way through the night, I inhaled and popped my strap!! My loving husband undid one of the pins on his uniform and stuck me back together for the rest of the night.  Which in turn meant I had to wear the same, boring old dress I've worn since our very first date, to the meet'n'greet thingy last night. Oh well, boring black classic.  At least it's dependable!1

I'm tutoring at GMC right now and loving it!! I've been asked to teach an LSS English class in the fall and I'm seriously considering it.

OH, here's a little reason I found behind the name:

The Georgia Military College of today is a two-year, multi-site college and a high school/middle school. It is a co-educational public institution, operating under the direction of a publicly elected Board of Trustees. The College, in part by design and in part by serendipity, has come to match its name by operating five junior college Distant Learning Center campuses on military installations throughout Georgia while continuing to maintain a Corps of Cadets at the tradition-rich Milledgeville campus.

Cheerio~
