Keane Scored Two in Spur's Last-Minute Victory

Tottenham went through a dramatic 3-2 win in Portugal over Braga who had been unbeaten at home since last October. After a nil-nil first half, two goals from Robbie Keane and Malbranque respectively gave the London side a comfortable lead in early second half but Braga levelled the game in five minutes turned the game into a thriller. 30 seconds before the final whistle, Keane brought the last laugh to Jol's boys scoring his second goal of the match.

Outstanding Berbetov Highlighted the goalless First Half

Braga started aggressively in the early 10 minutes yet soon were calmed down by Tottenham's fast counterattacks leading by Berbetov whose 33rd minute slicing pass sent Robbie Keane to the edge of the box with only the goalkeeper to beat. Keane's shot was just deflected over by the Portugese keeper Paulo Santos. Spur found another golden chance five minutes later when Keane leaked Lee's cross to Berbetov at the spot who hit the ball straightly to Santos and the latter made another save to Berbetov's shot outside the box ending an all-square first half.

Spectacular Volley from Keane Broke the Deadlock

Coming out from the changing room, Tottenham continued their pressure and they found the opener in the 57th minute when Lennon skipped two defenders and made a lovely chip ball to Robbie Keane. The Irish captain chested it down and fired a magnificent first-time volley to the back of the net. Lennon once again threatened the Portugese side in the 72nd minute. His shot came off Paulo Santos and Malbranque picked up the rebound and hammered it home.

Braga Levelled up

Bringing in three pairs of fresh legs, Jorge Costa saw his side came back in the game after taking the full advantage of two unnecessary fouls of Spur. In 75th minute, Brazillian substitute Diego was brought down in the box by Gardner giving the Portugese side a penalty. Robinson blocked Paulo Jorge's spot kick but the latter made no mistake in the follow-up pulling one goal back. Castanheira swang a free-kick into the box and Ze Carlos headed in their equalizer in the 81st minute.

Tottenham Celebrated Their Final Victory

When the first leg of the semi-quarter final of the UEFA CUP is about the end as a tie, Didier Zokora's lethal pass found Robbie Keane breaking the off-side trap on a one-on-one run and Keane scored the winning goal for Spur in the 92nd minute. The second leg is fixtured on 14th March at White Harte Lane Stadium, London.

Match Report

The French side dominated the first half

Robinho sparked Real Madrid¡¦s attack at Stade de Gerland. The new Brazilian striker won two free-kicks in the early stage but Beckham and Roberto Carlos missed the target respectively. Lyon broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. Carew deflected P. Juninho¡¦s re-taken free-kick into the net. A powerful 40-yard free-kick from Juninho in the 26th minute extended Lyon's lead. The sloppy defense of Real Madrid gave enough space to Wiltord meeting Reveillere¡¦s cross in the 31st minute to make it 3-0. Lyon was granted a penalty kick four minutes before the half time after Juninho was tripped by Sargado in the box but Iker Casillas saved the spot-kick from Juninho.

Coupet secured a clear sheet for Lyon

Real Madrid tried to pull back a goal after the break. However, lack of co-operation and monotone central penetration limited the shots of the Spanish giant outside the penalty area. Steady performance of Coupet kept Real Madrid from the score line. A nice pass from Robinho in the 60th minute found Raul into the penalty area but Coupet denied Raul¡¦s attempt. Guti was in to bring some fluency and efficiency in the attack of his side. Three minutes before Guti missed the chance to turn Coupet¡¦s only mistake into a goal, Juninho nearly scored his second goal in a counter-attack in the 62nd minute. Iker Casillas gave a great save to Juninho¡¦s close range shot. The game ended goalless in the second half. Without much pressue, Houllier celebrated his first Champions League victory with his boys after one-year leave in coaching position.
