| Eragon: The movie, the review, THE INJUSTICE!!!
Books turning into movies is nothing new. Sometimes they are excellent (LOTR) and sometimes they can be mediocre, or even to euphemize: they tried. Eragon is neither. It is simply a mocking, disgusting, horrible ploy to make a few extra dollars off a bestselling book. I do admit the book was not great, and i think the only reason it made bestseller lists was because of a fifteen year old author. This movie though, was simply outrageous. First of all, quality of the movie aside, it totally did not follow the book, but I will discuss more on that later. The movie was a complete injustice, a RAPE, and a ravishing bastardization of the book. To make reading easy, I will simply make three easy-to-read lists: Reasons to watch the film, reasons not to watch the film, reasons not to watch the film (SPOILERS edition).
Reasons to watch the movie
- Excellent CG and animation.
- Pretty good amount of special effects and fight scenes.
- Thats about it.
Reasons not to watch the movie (non-spoilers)
- Does not follow the book AT ALL (read SPOILERS section for more info)
- totally jumpy, even if you watch it as a movie alone, the plot is horrible.
- Nothing is explained properly, nor is there any room left for proper character and storyline development, everything just jumps from one point to the next.
- To me, this was only an attempt to make a few extra dollars in releasing something completely disgusting while titling it after a rather decently written book.
Reasons not to watch the movie (with SPOILERS)
SPOILERS!!!
THIS SECTION WITH CONTAIN SPOILERS YOU ARE WARNED NOW THAT FACTS ABOUT THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE WILL BE REVEALED READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!!!!!
Basically all my reasons for not watching the movie come from having read the book already. If you have read the book, you will understand what I am talking about.
- Many larger concepts and people from the book are COMPLETELY, and I mean ABSOLUTELY COMPLETELY left out. For instance, no dwarfs, Horst (the blacksmith) is NEVER developed and all he gets is a name-drop, any of the extensively detailed training scenes from the book are completely left out, any details of the differences between dragon-rider, human, Shade and Elf, are completely left out, the Twins of the Varden are completely left out. Oh, believe me I can go on, but the injustice is too much.
- Characters that are never fully developed, Murtagh, Arya, Ajihad, Nasuada, Brom, Roran, Sloan, etc etc, (yea i can go on trust.)
- Secrets that were never revealed at the right time, Arya's a princess, Murtagh as Morzan's son.
Summary: Overall, the list of things that were completely and I mean 100% COMPLETELY LEFT OUT of the movie could be pages beyond pages long, i only mention the obvious. This movie is not worth your money to see. It was horrible. It is a complete injustice to the book, and to the author. I cannot believe Paolini allowed this atrocity to be distributed. If you want to hear any more about the movie ask me in person.
My grade on Yahoo!: D+ (poor effort)

| You Are 20% Feminine, 80% Masculine | You are totally in touch with your masculine side. In fact, you probably don't understand women at all (even if you are one!) Dramatic and emotional behavior turns you off. You rather watch football than deal with drama. |

| Psalm 1 from the Bay Psalm BookO, Blessed man that in th'advice of wicked doeth not walk; nor stand in sinner's way, nor sit in chair of scornful folk. But in the law of Jehovah, is his longing delight; and in his law doth meditate by day and eke by night. And he shall be like to a tree planted by water-rivers: that in his season yields his fruit, and his leaf never withers And all he doth, shall prosper well, the wicked are not so: but they are like unto the chaffe, which winde drives to and fro. Therefore shall not ungodly men, rise to stand in the doom nor shall the sinners with the just in their assemblie come. For of the righteous men, the lord acknowledgeth the way: but the way of ungodly men, shall utterly decay.
