I'll be closing this account soon and opening a new one... I haven't decided if it will be another Xanga account or a different site. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Trees can symbolize so much....
the "tree of life", the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil"...
the tree that was split clear down the middle in Jane Eyre and all that stood for...
People can be commended for being an "oak of righteousness".... the stump of Jesse....
Robert Frost wrote a poem about climbing birches and riding them to the ground...
We decorate Christmas trees... Jesus was crucified on a cross, which, as luck would have it, came from a tree...
The dove brought a small branch back to Noah to show him that the world had started to replenish itself...

In a more general sense.... trees can symbolize new life... a beginning... life itself... perseverance as we are encouraged to reach higher and stretch towards the skies.... the changing of the seasons of life on this earth and the season of life as humans ourselves.... even resulting in perhaps relying on the assistant of a wooden cane as we reach the end of that journey....

How many pages have been written on the paper made from trees? how many books... letters... papers for school assignments.... poems.... drawings.....

We research our family trees to the very tips of the branches and to the deepest roots of our past...

We climb the branches to glory in the sun and shrink beneath those same branches to seek comfort from the heat of summer

Couples carve their names in the bark of trees to show that just as that tree will remain for years to come, so their love will last "forever"....

Funny how a splinter can cause so much pain, it's such a small thing... falling from atop a trees branches can break a bone like a twig and you can use the same branch as a splint to help that bone heal again...

The truly magnificent trees have roots that go so deep. Their winding fingers reaching into and digging deeper into the earth, clinging to the sustenance that dwells deep beneath the surface. This sustenance that exists for the trees that remain long enough to grow truly deep. It is these same trees whose glorious trunks are strong and firm and allow its branches to climb higher and reach farther that any of the other trees.

I want to be a tree like that. I want my roots to grow deep from years of going deeper… I want to be strong and have a firm foundation… I want to have branches that reach higher, whose tips dance in the sunlight. I want to have branches that are able to reach far to shield others, to bring joy and comfort to others…. That is my desire.

"Go where you're sent. Stay where you're put. Give what you've got." - words of wisdom

"Niche" is such a funny word... and an impossible thing to find if you're looking for it. Does a niche find you?

Thankful

So I watched a program about the new Mel Gibson movie Apocalypto... I definately want to see it now. Silly thing is... before I even see it, I'm convicted of a few things... sigh...

In keeping with tradition and continuing the crytpic tone of my entries.... read on.

I'm gradually gaining an insight and having my eyes opened in a very unique way. Not necessarily a "spiritual" way.... Although I suppose it it a result an overflow from that place within me.

There is so much, and I need so little... I have been blessed with so much more than I really need, what would You have me do with what is left?
.....there's a world beyond itunes, RedBox, impulsive buys, and eating out.... beyond having the new cd, and grabbing that movie I "have to have", and replacing clothes that are still perfectly fine... There's a freedom of simplicity and I want to know how to define that simple life that I am to lead.
I am and much bigger. Knowing that makes me smile.

I want to go to Brazil. So they will know, and so I will be broken.
