a lovely sunday *

the weather is too wonderful in London !!

Hot, Sunny, Balmy - makes working hard so difficult!! Am lucky that part of "work" includes going round all the fantastic galleries and auction houses though !

Had lunch at Royal China Club with Christine, Anne, Erin and Grace , haha Christine said we had a 'sex and the city' moment hahahaha. Then walked down Bond Street and went to Bonhams, Sotheby's and Christie's to their Chinese Ceramics/Photographs/Contemporary Art preview . Christie's updated Website is so much better now!!!

Walked home and passed by all the lovely people basking under the sun - went to Sainsbury's and then took all the free weekend magazines!

Looking forward to going to exhibitions at White Cube, Haunch of Venison, National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery!!!!

Am enjoying the end of the wkend and watching 'Legally Blonde'

Spent Saturday at the British Museum , went to see American Scene: Prints from Hopper to Pollock + Fascination with Nature, then had Korean food with muimui for lunch

* up on sale at christies *

RICHARD AVEDON (1923-2004)
Nastassja Kinski and the Serpent, 14 June 1981
oversized gelatin silver print, printed 1982
signed and numbered '14/200' in pencil on mount and overmat; copyright credit reproduction limitation, edition and title stamps on reverse of mount
29 x 43 1/8in. (73.6 x 109.5cm.)

GAVIN BOND (b.1931)
Gisele, 2006
oversized chromogenic print
signed, dated and numbered '1/1' in ink on label on backing board
60 x 40in. (152.5 x 102cm.)

Bond has been fascinated since his very beginnings as a photographer by the atmosphere and picture possibilities of the frenzied moments backstage at fashion shows. A feature published in The Independent Magazine on 26th October 1996, when he had just graduated from St Martin's College of Art, demonstrated his precocious skill in this area. The present image captures star model Gisele Bündchen backstage at a Victoria's Secret show -- a context of high-fashion erotica with a Latin American carnival twist perfectly expressed by Bond's glamorous subject.

MICHEL COMTE (b.1953)
Gisele Bündchen, 1999
oversized chromogenic print, printed 2008
signed by photographer, titled, dated and numbered '1/3' in another hand in pencil on typed credit label on backing board
60 x 48in. (152.4 x 122cm.)

Taken for Italian Vogue, Comte's image, accentuated by smudged eye make-up and half-smoked cigarette, proposes an edgy interpretation of modern glamour.

MAC COSMETICS MOISTURELUSH CREAM, £21.50

 PERFECT FOR DRY SKIN

This innovative new face cream from MAC Cosmetics boasts a rich texture that glides on effortlessly to give skin a dewy, silky finish. Its deeply hydrating formula soothes and eases dry and chapped skin, while intensely moisturising from within. The cream creates an even smooth surface, giving a perfect base to apply make up. MAC’s senior make-up artists apply Moisturelush liberally to models’ skin backstage at shows to replenish the lost moisture that results from air travel. For best results, apply after cleansing in the morning and at night.

Carpe Diem .

Seize the day!

Original usage from Odes 1.11: (thank u Wikipedia!)

Leuconoe, don't ask — it's dangerous to know —
what end the gods will give me or you. Don't play with Babylonian
fortune-telling either. Better just deal with whatever comes your way.
Whether you'll see several more winters or whether the last one
Jupiter gives you is the one even now pelting the rocks on the shore with the waves
of the Tyrrhenian sea — be smart, drink your wine. Scale back your long hopes
to a short period. While we speak, time is envious and
is running away from us. Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

Woke up feeling Very Grumpy 'cos I couldn't sleep last night, but the thought of missing Ming and Qing Dynasty Furniture motivated me enough to ROLLLLL outta bed at 9:50 am , Run to the Bus stop - no bus, try to hail a cab down, realising I had no money to do so, run to HSBC cash point, realise Debit card had been deactivated, used Credit Card to get money (incured a fee!!), hailed down a cab, and paced it to class .

NO CLASS . Silly lecturer just returned from Asia and was too jet-lagged/ill or something to come in . ARGH .

Luckily it was such a wonderfully sunny beautiful day, so we decided to make the most of it and head outdoors!  Tiffany, Lin, Wen and I walked down to Oxford Street and went shopping at Topshop, H&M, Crabtree, Swarovski and Laduree, making our way to Fortnum and Mason's for lunch .

haha kinda felt like a 'ladies who lunch' situation cos the four of us were surrounded by old people/ snotty English women!! Gnocci and Cod were good!

Afterwards we walked back up Bond Street, ooing and ahhing to all the yummilicious jewels!! Got to Asia House to meet with the CEO for a Curatorial session . I still feel uncomfortable mixing charity with money . I was very cynical .

After our session the four of us walked down Regent's Street and bought MORE dessert at Paul - Strawberry tart, Rasberry tart, Chocolate Eclair, Coffee Eclair, Apple Latice, Apple Donut, Macaroons !!! hahahahahah so PIGGY !!!! ><

To top it off while heading back to mine on Oxford Street, we stopped at Beard Papa to buy TWO BOXES of cream puffs and Lin went to Yauatcha again to buy another box of Macaroons !!!! AIYAAAAA there's no WAY i'm gonna lose weight in time for Summer and the sun is shining in London already ! haha Flab and Fat are DEFINITELY NOT admirable assets for Summer .

Had a Dessert Party at home, and I made muimui dinner - Fried Vermicelli -mummy's suggestion!!

Went to the Royal Opera House to see Sleeping Beauty for the third time !! - I LOVE STUDENT STANDBY tickets!! Orchestra stall seats for only 10 pounds !!

Except was not too pleased with the Lilac fairy, she wasn't as good as Marianela, but otherwise loved the production ! Ahh if only I were light and ballerina-like hahahaahahhaaha

Make each moment fantastic!
