6 years, I had never missed the busiest period, no metter it was the end or the beginning of the school year. Now I can finally say, I am going to be a free man. No more stupid anal boss, and no more re-imaging. Well, I am going to miss the students.

Cross-training !?!

The term "cross-training" is supposed to decribe some kind of interactions. "Training" is the action, and "Cross" pretty much means the interactive part. So, in a real life situation, if two parties do cross-training, it should means both parties are sharing their experience and knowledge with each other, so any one of the two parties can always be replaced by the other one.

However, this doesn't seem to be the meaning of "cross-training" when it is being used in the I.T. department. When the Helpdesk is "cross-training" with another sub-department, that actually means, the Helpdesk is being told to do extra works which should be done by the other sub-department, and this is the "training" part. However, there is only a one-way direction on the "cross" part. None of the other sub-departments who "trained" the Helpdesk would care how the Helpdesk operated so, they off loaded most of the responsiblities (if not all) onto the Helpdesk but takes no works from the Helpdesk. OK, it sounds like, the Helpdesk is not inreplaceable, because Helpdesk knows everything from everyone but no one else know how to run the Helpdesk. Well, this not really the case, at least this has not been reflected on the Helpdesk team's pay-cheque. The people who had off-loaded the responsiblilties is still getting the high paid while the Helpdesk takes all the blames.

Sounds rough, if you understand what I am saying, but the good thing is, this is no different than anywhere else.

A good reason to love Facebook

Start using Facebook a few weeks ago. It is nice, but not as cool as what the students said, well, not until today.

One good thing about Facebook is, unless many other Blog sites or online communities, people who are using Facebook are required to have some level of honesty about their personal information. This is kind of good and bad. The bad is people are actually responsible and accountible to what they put on the Facebook, which means people evil like me cannot really say something offensive with hidding the identity of the person you are pointing finger onto. However, on the other hands, this makes you very easy to identify the people who you don't want to see you and your entries on Facebook.

Well, if you find out that your boss, or your superiors (i.e. parents, teachers, VPs, etc.) are on Facebook, but you have something you really don't want them to see. All you need is to locate the "Block People" option in Facebook and you can easily identify them since most of them are not intelligent to use a fake email address or short-form names. OK, if for some reason, you want to be nice to your boss and your superiors, but with a limit. Check out the "Limited Profile" option. You can still add them as your friend, but you can also limit what they can see about your stuff and you have total control of that. This way you can still be "friend" with your superiors but without them spying the bad things you wrote about them.

Because of those two features, I begin to love Facebook. And next time instead of saying to people, "I will not play with your" or "You are not my friend anymore", you should say "I block you on my Facebook".

Just got a new game, Bully, for my PS2. I heard the name of this game long before it gets released, from groups of teachers and educators' mouths. If you are not sure what this game is, here is a review from The Globe. Apparently, most of the comments are mainly negative toward this game, but how many of these "judges" had really played, or even turned on to take a closer looks of this game?

On an article from The Globe, Bad boys learn their lessons in Bully, the author does have an pretty different point of view toward that games. Well, apparently, Bully does have more, and much more education value than Super Mario Brother. So true.

Interview - just bunch of BS

5 years had been pasted since the interview I had from my last job, and 5 years after, I totally forgot how much BS I had to put up in order to pass the interview and get a job, even trying to be a teacher - a job that supposes to be repected by the others.

Just had my first interview for a teaching position, I have to say that interivew for teacher is somewhat different than other jobs espeically in the public education system. Firstly, I did not interview by any human resource personnel, those people are usually the expert on hosting interview. Secondly, the people who interviewed me, the VP and the department head, did not make up the questions but instead, they used a set of pre-made questions which they were not really sure what the questions really means sometimes. Thirdly, the interviewers were not always want to know how much I care about students' learning and how willingly I want to learn, they just want to straightly limited the answers to match the questions and then pick what they want to hear in between my answers.

Well, yes, I did not get the job but I am not piss or upset. I just found funny that my observation about teachers are living and only willing to live in their own world, is really true, and their world has no connection to the real world which explains why many people said they had learned more about real world from work than any schools, and they skipped school early to join the work force.

Let go back and enjoy another job hunting day.

Harrah! I am done school and I am just waiting for my degree and ceritifcate! Finally!!

Well, I am now also officially "Out of School - Out of Work". I can't wait to enjoy sitting at home all day long and do nothing!
