- Regulatory sign- A sign that informs highway users of traffic laws or regulations, and indicates requirements to perform in a certain manner.
- Warning signs- yellow or orange sign with black symbols or lettering that inform drivers of possible dangers ahead.

- Stale green light- a traffic signal ahead that is green at the time when first noticed, but is most likely to turn yellow when you reach it.
Basic speed law- a law stating that you should not drive faster than is safe for the weather conditions, and the conditions of the road, regardless of posted speed limits.
- Maximum speed limit- the maximum speed limit on most expressways is 55 miles per hour or 65 miles per hour in most rural areas.
- Pedestrian Signal- a traffic signal, or symbol for the use of pedestrians, usually reading wait, walk, or dont walk.
- Right turn on red- turning right when the red signal is on, unless specifically prohibited to turn.
- School Zone- a portion of a street or highway near a school that is subject to special speed limits.
- Yield- a sign that tells a driver to allow another car to or roadway user to proceed first.
- Odometer- a device on the instrument panel of a car that tells the number of miles a car has driven.
- Alternator light- this device warns that the battery of a vehicle is being drained. The more electricity used, the faster the battery will be dead.
- Turn signal indicators-2 small arrows, each which flashes to show the direction of the turn.
- Foot brake- pushing down on this pedal will slow the car down.
- Accelerator pedal- this pedal controls the speed of the car, and when pressed will make the car move faster.
- Passive restraints-describes a safety device that works without the action of a passenger or driver. This restraint will act by itself in the case of impact or other events.
- Dimmer Switch- on many cars, you change the headlights from high to low or vice versa by moving the turn signal lever toward the steering wheel.
- Cruise Control-a device that allows the car to maintain a certain speed.
- Selector Position (automatic)-it is the gear shift in a car with a manual transmission.
- Selector position (manual)-the gear shift in a car with a manual transmission
- Secure car procedure- keep foot on brake when stopped in an automatic transmission, shift to park, set parking break and turn off accessories, release foot break, and remove the keys, unfasten seatbelt, close windows, and lock doors.
- Starting procedure-parking break is set, selector lever is in park or neutral, turn on ignition, release key as the engine starts. When engine starts check gauges, check fuel supply, and electrical system, oil pressure system to make sure they are working properly.
- Blind spot- the area that rear-view mirrors cannot show the driver.
- Downshifting- shifting from a higher gear to a lower gear.
- Automatic choke-valve that opens and closes automatically to control the air flow through the carburetor.
- emergency flashers- device that flashes to warn other vehicles that there is a hazard.
- Friction point-in a stick shift car, the point when the engine begins to turn the transmission and move the car as the driver releases the clutch.
- Emergency flasher-a point of the car around which all of an objects weight is evenly balanced.
- Energy of motion- Kinetic energy, or the energy an object has as it is moving is called the energy of motion.
- Tread- the grooved surface of a tire that grips the roadway
- Banked Curve-curve that is sloped down on the inside and up on the outside to overcome a cars tendency to tilt toward the outside of the curve.
- Breaking distance- the distance traveled from the time the breaks are applied, until the vehicle actually stops.
- Friction- this is the resistance to motion between surfaces that touch. Friction is the force that keeps each tire from sliding on the road.
- Perception time- this is the time it takes a person to become aware of an object or situation ahead
- Reaction time- this is the time it takes a driver to respond to a driving hazard once it has been identified.
- Total Stopping Distance- this is the total distance that it takes to stop a car including the perception distance, reaction distance, and breaking distance.
- Angle parking- this is when you park a car diagonally to the curb.
- Perpendicular parking- this is when you park at a right angle to the curb.
- Turnabout maneuver-a maneuver for turning the car around to go in the opposite direction.
- Under steer-when the driver does not turn the wheel enough to make a turn
- Over steer- when the driver turns the wheel too much to make a turn.
- Downhill parking- when you park a car downhill

- Arm Signals- these are a way of communicating with the other drivers, usually about your direction.
- Hand over hand steering- a method of turning the steering wheel in which one hand pulls the wheel down while the other hand crosses over to pull the wheel farther down.

- Tail gating- When one vehicle follows another too closely.

- Entrance ramp- the ramp leading onto an expressway.
- Merging area- the stretch of roadway at the end of an acceleration lane on an expressway where cars join the flow of traffic.
- Acceleration lane- the lane that permits drivers entering the expressway to accelerate to the speed of traffic.
- Minimum speed limit- the lowest legal speed a car may drive on certain roadways under certain conditions to prevent wide differences in speed among vehicles.
- Common speed- the speed used by most drivers on the expressway.
- Wolf pack-a group or formation of vehicles traveling on the expressway.
- I.P.D.E.-an organized system of seeing, thinking, and responding that includes the four steps: identify, predict, decide, and execute.
- Deceleration Ramp- a ramp that permits drivers leaving an expressway to slow down without obstructing traffic on the expressway.
- Exit Ramp- a ramp that permits drivers to exit an expressway.
- Rumble strips- these are sections of rough pavement intended to alert drivers of roadway construction, approach to a tollbooth, or other traffic conditions ahead.
- Velocitation- a condition of unconsciously driving too fast as a result of driving for long periods at high speeds.
- Highway hypnosis- when a driver is dulled or drowsy, trance-like. A condition caused by concentration on the roadway ahead, and monotony of driving.
- Emergency flares- a device that burns with bright red lights to warn approaching traffic of a hazard on the roadway.
- Tire chains- these are devices placed over the wheels of a vehicle to increase friction when driving in conditions of ice and snow.
- Controlled breaking- a technique of applying the brake to slow, or stop quickly without locking the wheels.
- Overdriving your headlights- driving in a speed at which the stopping distance exceeds the area lit by the headlights.
- Rocking the car- a means of loosening a cars wheels from snow, mud, or sand by alternately putting the car in a low gear and moving ahead, then shifting to reverse, and moving back.
- Hydroplaning- a condition in which the tires of a moving vehicle ride on the surface of water, resulting in loss of steering and breaking control.
- Stopping time- the time in which it will take a vehicle to stop.
- Jack- a hand-operated device for lifting the corner of a car, generally used when changing a tire.
- Blow-out-a sudden loss of air pressure in tires when driving.
- Brake fade- a loss of breaking effectiveness caused by overheating the breaks after long, continuously hard breaking.
- Lug nuts- these are small pieces of hardware that hold a wheel to the car.

- Glare recovery time- the time recovered to regain clear vision after being temporarily blinded by a strong light.
- Color blindness- the inability to distinguish colors from each other.
- Field of vision-the area that a person can see while looking straight ahead.
- Night blindness- a condition of being not able to see well at night.
- Depth perception- the ability to judge distance between you and other objects.
- B.A.C.- the percentage of alcohol found in the blood as a measured by chemical tests of blood or urine.
- D.W.I- the level of intoxication in most states in which a drivers blood alcohol concentration is .10 or .08.
- Field sobriety- roadside tests given by police officers to detect driver impairment.
- Hallucinogen- a mind altering drug that tends to distort ones perceptions for an amount of time, distance, and shapes as well as colors.
- Implied consent- a state law providing that a driver must give up her or his drivers license if he or she refuses to take a chemical test.
- Peer pressure- the influence of a friend or group of people on a persons actions.
- Stimulant- a drug that quickens your heartbeat and speeds up your central nervous system.
- Depressant-a drug that slows down your heartbeat, as well as your scentral nervous system.
- Peer pressure group counceling- a type of counseling that uses peer leadership to help others make decisions and determine goals.
- Assigned risk-a type of insurance that provides minimum bodily injury, and property damage liability coverage to a high risk driver for a higher premium.

| haha wellz nuttin else betta tah do den blog ryte? fa sho.. well yesterday i talked to my cuhzzo jannelle that i havent seen or talked to in HELLUH long! like WHOA.. lol she's so different now but she changed in a good way... we talked for a while.. and then i watched that gross bug show and that medical wun where they showed like an anchor goin into some guys head GROSS... but then [[today]] i woke up.. en i was like wdf?! no ones home?! haha dey left widout me to go grocery shoppin... no surpirse.. i sleep too late... so of course online.. and OMG can u ppl plz stop callin my house for at least 10 minutes! every second the fone if ringin.. like i had ta go pee helluh bad but i had tah hold in even longer cuhz da dam fone rang! NOT COOL! hmmm... and then mommie came home and the sister... and i had to help them wid da groceries... and then off to band practice she went.. leavin me and my sister to tear eachothers head off...
