  • I'm going to repost a previous question, because it didn't receive much response.
Also, as you may know I have been absent from this for quite a while. I was without internet for about three months. I live in the country and it's hard to get internet sometimes.
Anyways, I have it back now. So I'm reposted this previously asked question.

    Did God create evil?

  • Can all religions be true? Is there an ultimate truth?

What's your opinion on the subject?

I read this in a book and thought it was pretty funny.

'A Bible-believing student was on break and decided to be adventurous one Sunday and attend a church that he had never attended before. But as soon as the paster uttered the first sentence of his sermon, the student realized that he had made a mistake--the pastor was contradicting the Bible.
"The theme of my sermon this morning," the pastor began, "is that all religious beliefs are true!" The student swirmed in is seat as the pastor went on to assure each member of the congregation that every religious belief that they had was "true!"
When the sermon was over, the student wanted to slip out unnoticed, but the heavy-set, robed pastor was waiting at the door bear-hugging each passing congregant.
"Son," the pastor boomed upon greeting the student, "where are you from?"
"Actually, I'm from Bowling Green, sir. I'm home on break from seminary."
"Seminary! Good. So what religous beliefs do you have, Son?"
    "I'd rather not say, sir."
    "Why not, Son?"
"Because I don't want to offend you, sir."
"Oh, Son, you can't offend me. Besides, it doesn't matter what your beliefs are--they're true. So what do you believe?"
"Okay," the student relented. He leaned toward the pastor, cupped his hand around his mouth and whispered, "Sir, I believe that you are going to hell!"
The pastor's face turned bright red as he struggled to respond. "I, ah, guess I, ah, made a mistake! All religious beliefs cannot be true because yours certainly aren't true!"

Indeed, as the pastor realized, religious beliefs cannot all be true, because many religious beliefs are
contradictory--they teach opposites. For example, conservative Christians believe that those who haven't accepted Christa as their Savior have chosen hell as their ultimate destination. It's often overlooked, but man Mislims believe the same about non-Muslims--they're headed for hell as well. And Hindus generally beileve that everyone, regarless of beliefs, is caught in an indefinite ycle of reincarnation based on works. These contradictory beliefs can't all be true.'

What is the basis for morality and ethics?

There are certain things in this world that people just don't do. Why not? There are certain things that people don't do, not matter what religious background they come from. Why not? Where do we get the basis for our morals?

Some say it's determined by the individual person, in their own mind. Well, okay, whatever, but wouldn't that make Hitler right in his choices?

And I would recommend the above book.

  • homosexuality.

    Your opinion:
Is being gay wrong? Why or why not?
Are people born gay, or did they chose to be gay? Why would they chose, and support your answer if you think they are born gay.
Is the "love" between a man and a man or a woman and a woman really love? Why or why not?
    What is love?

Please try to support your answer.

I know that this has been discussed earlier, but I thought I would make an official topic out of it.
