| Things I've learned so far (2)...- There is a ton of front-end training in nuclear power, much of it about not walking into an area that would start setting off alarms and buzzers everywhere.
- I am probably not going to die from nuclear radiation, because these people are really, really serious about keeping things contained.
- I actually kinda enjoy living alone so far. I'll definitely like it better when I have a wife and family to come home to someday, but it's not too bad even right now. I'm naturally an introvert, so being at work around folks all day exhausts me after awhile, and it's kind of good to come home to quiet.
- The people at First Baptist Church of Vidalia are possibly the nicest people on the face of the planet. My first Sunday there, the guy whose Sunday school class I attended let me sit with him during service and then invited me over with him and his family to his parents' house to eat and hang out. It was amazing food, and they sent me home with another 2 meals' worth of food. Oh, and besides all the food, I liked the service pretty well too, and I'm excited about all the different ministries they're involved in. I'm not absolutely sure I'll join there yet, but I'm going back this Sunday.
- I can heat up canned green beans without killing myself!
- Feathered friends can fly down my chimney, but they seem about as ready to leave my house as I am for them to leave my house. I opened both doors, and easily swept the flying little fellow outside to be happy again.
- Kitchen counter tops and dishes unfortunately do not clean themselves.

| Things I've Learned So Far...- I can put together a table, vacuum cleaner, and hopefully soon a lawn mower.
- When putting gas in a gas can, looking into the can to see if the gas is flowing gets you sprayed in the face.
- Hamburgers should not be attempted using a plastic batter-stirrer thing.
- Spatulas (used after batter-stirrer failed) will melt if left in the frying pan while you're trying to figure things out with the hamburgers.
- Melted plastic does come off of non-stick pans, though it clings tightly to any metal it touches.
- Though my methods were unconventional, I can successfully fry a hamburger.

| From the Pond HouseHello from my happy pond house!
That's right, that's what I'm living in now. I'm just about to put up some pictures of it on facebook, so everyone can see it. I'm proud of this little place, and I think it's a pretty sweet setup too. It's got 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a laundry room, several closets, and a "great room" with an open kitchen and such. But here's the list of really sweet perks:
- It's got a huge wood-burning fireplace.
- It came with a TV, washer and dryer, couch, a couple lamps, etc.
- The kitchen has both a dishwasher and a garbage disposal.
- It has a decent sized yard. This means that it'll be some work taking care of it, but I think I'll enjoy that, and it'll give me something to do while I'm living alone.
- It's got a huge back porch overlooking the pond and the dock (which is also mine).
I'm just trying to get everything unpacked and such right now, but yeah, that's the deal so far. I'm pretty excited. Also good is that my background check went through fine, and I'm starting my job Monday! I'm looking forward to it, though I'm not sure what I'll be doing there yet.
For now, the end.

| Life after graduationHello my adoring fans (or fan... or even no one... hey, I read my own blog).
This is a quick update on the life of Tim since graduation. I left Cedarville after packing up some stuff and helping Bethany pack up some stuff on Saturday after commencement. Then we left Cedarville, in more ways than just our location changing. Leaving is a friendships changing, an occupation changing, a home changing, a church changing, and it was tough, I'm not gonna lie. In any case, I left with Bethany and went to her house for most of the next week. It was really good being able to spend some time with her and her family again, and it was good to have that rest after the stress of packing up and goodbyes and all that. I left PA on that Friday and headed back home in time for Mother's Day (very important for my mom lol).
Since then, I've been getting things together for my job (I start at the nuclear plant on June 16th... and thanks to you who have helped out in my background check for that lol), and I found a small house I'll be renting down in Vidalia, Georgia. If you've ever heard of vidalia onions, that's where they're from, so the next time you see me, you might want to be wary of my breath . The house is called a pond house; it's like a guest house for the main house (rented to someone else) just across a row of trees. It's only 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, but it has a really big living room / dining room with a fireplace, and it has a back porch overlooking the pond. It even has a dock onto the pond. I'm excited about it! I'll be moving in the week before my start date.
Two more quick summaries of trips, and then I'm done. First, me and my brother and a couple friends flew to NYC for a couple days. We did some sightseeing, went to a game at Yankee stadium, and saw the Conan O'Brian show which included Harrison Ford that night. Pretty awesome.
Second is the trip I'm currently on. I'm in Tampa, Florida on a family vacation. My dad rented a condo on the beach, and it's a pretty sweet place. Right across the way, there are a bunch of restaurants and shops and all. Me and my brother might try to rent a jet ski later in the week, and other plans include the family going to Busch Gardens and a state park where there might be kayaking involved. I love kayaking.
In any case, thanks for sticking with me through this summary of a long month, but I hope you're doing well and please say hi if I haven't talked with you in awhile. See ya'll later.

| Spiritual Leader in a Relationship?Me and my roommate were just talking about chapel today. One of the guy's main points was about the guy being the spiritual leader in the relationship. This sounds good, and I agree with it until I realized I don't really understand what that means. Certainly it means living morally (i.e. like the guy was saying, not looking at pornography or doing any number of other sins). But it's gotta be a lot more than that.
Part of it is leading by example. Bethany and I were talking one time, and she mentioned something about how girls seem to take some of their cues on what's acceptable from the guys in their lives, whether they're a boyfriend or just guy friends around. I don't know if that's something just how girls process things, or if I didn't really understand what she was saying or what, but if it's true, then me personally following Christ, reading the Word, showing humility, serving people, being patient, not being ashamed of my faith, all those things, will encourage my girlfriend to do the same, if she's willing to follow me. I'm not saying I'm doing all of those perfectly, but if I'm gonna continue to look more and more like Christ, I will.
Part of it also would seem like leading in devotionals together or praying together, but here's one place me and Kev were kinda stuck. How does that look? It just seems kinda weird to sit down and say, "Ok, now it's time to read a chapter together and pray for 15 minutes, and I can check off my spiritual leadership requirement." I've enjoyed spending time with Bethany in the Word or praying, but sometimes it's felt kinda forced, like I was just doing it because I thought that's what I was supposed to do as a "spiritual leader".
I don't know, I'm honestly asking for feedback / insight on this, so any given would be appreciated.
