  • Time for some shameless publicity!

all for One productions announces its 2008 – 2009 season

all for One is excited to produce thought-provoking, family-friendly plays which are seldom if ever seen on any other Fort Wayne stage.

This September, experience an evening with the genius behind The Chronicles of Narnia and Prince Caspian as all for One and Emmanuel Community Church produce The Spotlight Series with professional actor Tom Key, performing C.S. Lewis On Stage.  Performances are Monday and Tuesday, September 29 & 30, 7:00 PM at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd., Fort Wayne. The public is invited to stay for an open discussion of faith and art following each performance.  Rated G for all audiences.  Material of interest to Middle School +.

The Home Stage season opens with the hit Broadway comedy, Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DiPietro (author of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change).  Nick spends  every Sunday afternoon with his two sets of Italian-immigrant grandparents in Hoboken...until he's offered a major job promotion which would move him to Washington state.  The grandparents' plot to keep him on the East Coast proves to be embarrassing and exasperating for Nick, and hilarious for the audience.  An uproarious comedy which celebrates families and what they give to us, whether nearby or far away.  October 24-26; October 31– November 2, 2008    Rated G for all audiences.

all for One's alternative theatre piece to beat the mid-winter blahs is the provocative and timely two-character drama, I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me By a Young Lady From Rwanda, by Sonja Linden. This surprisingly funny meeting of two cultures introduces us to Juliette, a young Rwandan refugee living in London, and Simon, a middle-aged struggling novelist assigned to help her with her English writing skills. As he encourages her to write her personal story, and she resists, we are drawn into the reality of tragedy and triumph for all those who have lived in war-torn countries.  February 13-15, 2009  Rated PG-13 for subject matter.

all for One closes its season with an exciting new period drama by D.W. Gregory, Radium Girls.

Set in the 1920s, Radium Girls tells the story of the painters of luminous dials (paint made with radium dust) and the dreadful deaths suffered by many of them before the dangers of radiation were discovered.  A lively comedy-drama in which 10 actors and actresses portray 30 roles, Radium Girls explores the moral and ethical obligations of scientists, doctors, employers and the media.  As Grace fights her way through the complex and resistant legal system to force the industry to accept its share of responsibility, we are forced to ask hard questions about how we each view the employee/employer relationship.  April 24-26 and May 1-3, 2009  Rated PG for subject matter.

Call 260.622.4610 for Season tickets and information on Early Bird ticket discounts.

Unless otherwise noted, all performances are at the Allen County Public Library Auditorium,

900 Library Plaza downtown Fort Wayne.

  • It's the birthday that never ends! And Jon even gets a little something. Thanks Mr. Hinkle & Julie!

When I handed Jon his present, to which a balloon was attached on the outside, the first thing he said was, "Oh, balloon!"

Jon got Gordon. He loves trains! He's enthralled with the "ticket" that came with the train!

These are the cutest aprons! Julie made them. Now Rachael has her very own aprons to use when she helps me in the kitchen. The fish one is so cute! I love the stripes!

  • Here's the cutie with the missing tooth! And the short hair.

    lost tooth

Her haircut went great. The cut really suits her. We had her second 6th birthday party today. This one was with my family. Mom and dad were on vacation over her actual b-day, so we had the celebration today. She got some fun stuff.

    roller rach

She's been asking for roller skates for a long while now for her birthday. We found some adjustable ones that will hopefully last next summer as well. And a really cute helmet and pads set. She strapped it all on at Grandma's and wore it home! She's sitting in her little booster seat in helmet, pads and skates. I should taken a picture. It was very cute!

And here's a funny story about Jonny. We went to see "WALLE" last night at the theater. Jon got totally engrossed in the movie and he's now saying that Walle is his best friend. Well, there's a part where tension is kind of high and Walle is in peril. The theater is, of course, quiet and Jon pipes up and says, "What's going to happen to Walle?" We shush him and a few seconds later, he's crawling into Brent's lap, and just can't keep still because he's so into this movie he can't stand not knowing what's going to happen to Walle. So his arms and legs are just going, and then Walle really gets into trouble and Jon yells, "WALLE!" And bursts into tears. Loud wailing sobs, as a matter of fact. So, Brent and I are trying to shush him and reassure him that Walle will be fine and eventually he calmed down, and quieted down. I was trying so hard not to laugh at him. I thought it was pretty cute that he was so concerned for Walle, and it was just funny to me that he could get so into this movie and so attached to this little robot that he would be so affected by it. I was surprised by how much he understood, too, because there wasn't much talking done by the robots. It was a lot of non verbal communication and I was really impressed by how much both kids really understood what was going on.

So, that's our big news around here. "Walle", missing teeth, and roller skates. I'd say it's been a pretty full weekend!

  • Rachael just lost her top right front tooth!! Add that to her haircut and she's looking like a big girl! I'll post pictures later today hopefully.

  • A little addition to Jonny's story... (I've been meaning to post this since last Sunday!)

When Rachael and Daddy got home Sunday night I told them that Jonny had asked Jesus into his heart. Actually, I made Brent read the blog because I knew if I talked about it I'd cry! But when Rach got upstairs, Jon was still awake and I told her what he'd prayed for. She got really excited, gave him a hug and said, "Jonny, I'm so proud of you!" It was a very sweet moment.

Haven't heard anything on the house yet. We put the offer in on Friday a week ago. We should hear something in the next week.
