I'm a G-Man

As most of you know, I'm currently working for DFAS (Defense Finance & Accounting Services) for Department of Defense...God I love saying DoD all the time haha...Well, I like it alot better than Huntington's Bank for several reasons.  More challenging than being a lowly worker over at Huntington's, better pay obviously, and finally a sticker that says DoD on my car haha...Well the weekend was great, spent time with the group and drank alot that day, enjoyed the parade, spending time with Katie.  David came home and tagged along with Katie and I too see Da Vinci Code on sunday.  Oh I also saw X-Men 3 which is better than I thought and considering they're thinkin about part 4 already haha...

Well theres this dude Russell that I work with at DFAS, whom is a Vietnam Veteran and owns these dogs from hell from the pictures he had showed me.  His first dog was what they called "King Doberman" weighed 150 pound beast that was a Vietnam War Dog named Kodiak...Interesting story behind that.  What happened he told me was there was this battle, he didn't say and the American platoon was being overrun at some place in the middle of the jungle and the Dog Handler was wounded and this Dog dragged the master by the strap on the vest for 10 miles back to base for 4 days.  During those 4 days there were 9 Vietnamese soldiers got killed along the way by Kodiak as he paced himself and carefully dragged his master back to base.  The Master unfortunately died a couple days later after arriving on base and they didn't know what to do with the dog and Russell decided to keep the dog as his own so they wouldn't put the dog to sleep since he has no Master.  Russell showed me the picture of Kodiak and damn that dog is fuckin huge.

Well, overall, this past weekend was a blast...too bad it was short for myself.  I enjoyed spending time with everybody.  This coming weekend I'm gonna take Katie out to see the Break-up movie shes been anxious to see that and I'm willing to see that cause Vince Vaughan is in it haha...

    Thats it for now

I'm a working man

Well its been a while since I've updated....lets see where to begin.  I'll start with New York City trip.  Undoubtably some of ya know and heard from some of us that went.  It was great , I had a great time and spending that one night with Katie walking around was a blast.  It was enjoyable to have just the two of us going into stores and especially Disney store there...lol Katie had her picture taken with Cinderella and Pluto statue and I had mine taken with some evil woman from 101 dalmation.  Tao's Restaurant was a nice place to eat lol and it wasn't so bad on price but somewhat I've expected...oh by the way I saw Hitch after NYC trip where Will Smith was sitting was where we were at, which was interesting.  Empire State building was quite majestic and the view was perfect except for cold winds blowin in our faces.  Katie will have that picture of us up on it if you guys want to see it and head over to her xanga whenever we can get it to work lol...

Umm as some of you know, I've been working at Huntington Bank since March 27th.  First day was orientation and it started from 8 till about 3:30 pm which was just going over policies, rules, regulations,  quick training on using lotus notes, going over the benefits I'll have, opening up accounts so my paychecks can directly deposit there and  going over the benefits which  its pretty nice.  Well, I actually worked the next day which is pretty much my typical day there for the time being, it goes through several process.  First I open mails and take out applications such as Loans, Mortages, Titles, payoff checks, auto-drives, and leases.  I have to write application ID numbers on the mail envelops and sort the applications into piles.  Once I get that done, I headed over to the other table were we take out unneccessary paperworks and put them into certain orders into sets of 10 applications and have them get scanned and uploaded onto a computer.  Which by then the people in my department index them onto the databases and ready for the people in the other departments to use.  After that, we individually put the applications into folders and put them in alphabetical order so they can be handed off to the filing room next door in the morning.  By the way first four process have to be done by certain time no matter how many we get haha...So that makes up my typical day so far.  Oh I don't come home till 8pm which is a bummer...especially not seeing Katie so much now that shes going to college.  But we have been making time for us to see each other which is real great for me to see her, spending time with whatever we have left for the day with her after a tiring work day.

Well, I'll see ya guys around...o by the way I have 2 papercuts so far :S

Leaving for New York

Well, today's the day we take off for New York...unfortunately I'm coming down with somekind of cold/cough/sore throat sorta damn thing....but its not gonna stop me from going to New York City.  George desperately wants to borrow my Star Wars Empire at War lol...

Anyways...I sent a resume at Huntington Bank last 6th of March and two days later...got a job interview...So that went really well, the lady like talked to me for 45 mins straight about everything to know about the position with an austrialian accent.  Also DFAS had me fill out employee background check forms and haven't heard anything else from them.  Huntington Bank had me come in yesterday and take an oral drug test, little sponge and soak up your salivia for 3 mins and then find out the results by this little thing...well obviously I passed.  So things are really moving along now...perhaps I won't be able to work at Velvet now...since this job is really fast paced environment and demands constant eye to the detail...

Well....till then have fun this weekend guys...I know I will up at New York even if its cold hahaha...

Valentine was great, we had valentine dinner at our house, we cooked Steaks, corn, salad with italian dressing, and cheesecakes for desserts.  We've spent good afternoon preparing the dinner.  It was fun, I enjoyed it alot with her and ha, first Valentine dinner with Katie.  I've been drawing up this 11 x 18 picture of Italian coast with a house overlooking the ocean with a little bridge with a river feeding into the ocean and a little boat of us in it.  Toughest part so far was the roof of the house with all the round tiles...took good two hours to detail them onto the paper.  Katie got me Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 (first half of season) on dvd...hell yea!!  For those who haven't seen the show....you're missing out one of SCIFI's greatests shows on TV...Rolling Stone magazines like em by the way and of course tons of candies...mmm yummy...

Katie and I went to Millers for this employee valentine special.  It was really good, those primeribs at millers were great and highly recommended for those that wants to try out their primeribs.  Followed up with coconut cream pie which was delicious and haha, I was stuffed before I could take more than one bite out of it.  I brought em home to finish it on my own haha that is if I don't forget to eat them. Katie and I certainately had a great night together and it was great to go out and eat together.

Well as some of you know regarding to DFAS interview.  DFAS stands for Defense Financial & Accounting Services by the way...they're under Department of Defense dealing with financial matters for instance, process & make checks for Military personnels, bookkeeping, and etc.  Anyways, what was explained to me just before the interview, other DFAS locations are closing down periodically over time.  Jobs are being transferred or others resigning that are willing to relocate, they're expecting 500-600 job additions over at Columbus location which is good news haha.  What happened was that they creating collective pool of candidates that are qualified so over time and when a new position pops up they'll call me and make an offer.  They don't know the timeframe for all this to be exact.  However, I certainly left an impression at least from what I was told and the interview was flawless on my part.  So I hope I'll be in their mind.

Well I did a follow up on PNB, got up in the morning looking my best (even though I didn't shave).  Apparently those positions I've applied were already filled...and they told me to check out the websites and theres some openings over at Columbus locations too...I sure don't want to be a teller.

I got a call from Mary Ann from Velvet asking if I'm gonna come back again this year...at this point I'm not so sure and damn I don't really want to.  However getting some money would be nice.  If that comes down to it, I'm still gonna look for a job while working at Velvet obviously if that is I didnt get hired at DFAS or some other companies first.

Oh by the way heres this Johari window thing of me, it seems to be quite trendy among the cool people:

    Thats it for now folks.

Well it sure has been a long while I’ve updated this xanga…Let’s see here, where to begin.  Well as some of you know, I didn’t manage to get into JP Morgan Chase’s Bank One.  That’s ok, I’ve applied to places like Huntington Bank, Park National Bank, DSSC or DFAS (Columbus defense supply center), Dominion Homes, some more at JP Morgan Chase.  I’ve gotten couple of leads at Park National Bank and DSSC.  Got an interview with DSSC, apparently I’m one of the 40 selected to interview out of 150 people and its on the 17th…keep your fingers crossed people.  Park National Bank is interested in talking to me, I dunno if they meant it as an interview or just chat…which they haven’t specify the nature.  Other than that I’m aiming for DSSC over Park National Bank cause of full benefit package i.e. health care, dental, paid vacation, and there is more than I can remember at the moment.

Well, I went to Alabama with Katie for her cousin’s wedding.  It was about 11 hour drive give or take.  On the way down there I watched 24 last half of season 4 which was so cool, I dunno how Katie put up with me on that part lol. The wedding was a nice one, never seen some priests in monk suit…which I want one so I can play star wars haha.

Lets see here, I also helped Monica and Danny with redoing the bathroom.  Apparently she had gotten herself into a bigger problem when she decided to paint the bathroom wall haha and having to rid the ugly marble paneling.  She was in luck because my mom has panel boards and trims to go along with it.  My job was to umm cut wires to the medicine cabinet that was on the wall above the sink.  We shut off the electric…whole top floor…wires and I proceeded to cut them and I got shocked.  It wasn’t fatal I’ll tell ya that it was more like one of those gag novelty item that shocks with little bit more power.  Then one of the wires somehow touched one another and shot off sparks which was hilarious haha…at this point anybody would be nervous dealing with these apparent “live wire”.  Monica was trying to loosen up the cabinet so we can get the wires through the hole that was running inside the cabinet and encased with metal.  Well, it gotten too loose and she let go of it to Nate and I grabbed it with pliers and took it down haha…Well the bathroom turned out really nice and I won’t say much till you guys see it.

Katie just had a birthday and it was a cute one.  She got herself variety of cake flavors like cheesecake, chocolate, in quarters of the cake.  Haha we went to the Lion’s Den and it was interesting with all the stuff there.  Katie picked up this cool shot glass, which you guess the number and if you get it wrong you have to drink it and I don’t know if you had to drink it X number of times…

Well, I can’t wait till spring comes around, I have several projects I like to attempt…first off I like to build me entertainment stand.  Definitely need more rooms to put my dvds on shelf since they’re beginning to stack up on the floor.  Just want to be able to put DVD player, TV, VCR, Stereo, Video Phone, DVDs and VHS tapes.  Second project is gonna be an L shaped futon…I know it sounds complicated but I believe I can pull this one off.

Thats it for now and come check back in couple months for my next update...j/k.
