  • Lovin' it!

So, here's my new favorite thing to do. May be you have seen this, may be you haven't. But you've got to try it!! I've had my eye on these applique's for a while. But I thought they were rather pricey if you bought them from consultants or online. So, I just hadn't bought any. Until I was in Pennsylvania. I found this one at a store in Lititz.

With this brand all you have to do is peel off the back and then stick it wherever you want. It's even repositionable. That's nice, BUT the downside is that you can still see the plastic sticky part that doesn't come off. I don't like that. BUT on the upside it was cheap. I only paid $6.99 for this. It'll work for now, but I'll switch it later.

Then today I was at Joann Fabrics (LOVE LOVE LOVE that place!!) and I had a 40% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket. I was looking for something I might want/need and I spotted the same idea!! Only even BETTER. This particular applique you place on the wall and then rub on, removing the paper. So you get a MUCH better effect in my opinion. The downside is that it was $19.99 (still less expensive than through a consultant). The upside was I only paid about $12 with my coupon!! This is in our Master Bedroom.

I think it looks FANTASTIC!!! And I love that when I lay in bed I look right at it. Whenever I want a new one (which will be soon), I'll just get the coupon for Joann's and go there. I really like the one that says Bon Appetite . I may get that for my kitchen! I've already decided that if I have a little girl next, I'm going to paint her room pink and get the "Princess" applique. The great thing is that they are easily removable. When you are ready to remove it you simply use a hair dryer on it and peel it off. It is totally idiot proof.

If you do one, take a picture and let me see!! I think it's so much fun. And really adds life to a wall! Happy Tuesday everyone!

  • Opportunity Knocks, but I'm not answering.

So, my neighbors commented that they thought I would be a good sitter for their 2 sweet kiddos beginning this Fall. Evidently their last baby-sitter moved on and they need a new one. Of course it would be 5 days a week, full time, but.....to the tune of $700 a month!!!!!!!!!! Holy Cow, what I could do with that money. BUT.......on the flip side we would like to expand our little family in the coming year so I think it's really not a good choice for me. I was flattered that they considered me. I think for now I'll just stick to teaching piano lessons. My goal is 6 students for the Fall. I'm at 3 right now. I've been passing my flyers out in the neighborhood so we'll see what happens!

Tis' the season for the county fair (said with a southern drawal of course). Farm Animals, rusty carnie rides, corn on the cob, and deep fried anything on a stick...that's what the fair brings out. Not really my thing. But I do enjoy taking Caleb to see the animals. Last year he cried his head off when we took him anywhere near the pigs. (they were screeching rather loudly) Poor thing. I felt bad. We'll see what happens this year.

I have my mother-in-law to thank for this next comment. I tried Dibs out at my in-laws and I LOVE them. Oh my goodness. They're just small enough that they satisfy that chocolate craving. And their just small enough you can eat 50 of them and not even realize it. That's the downside, but oh are they sinfully good! Enjoy ladies!

Has it been stinken hot in your neck of the woods? It has been here. I decided it was too hot to do anything today except lounge around the pool. So that's exactly what I did. I grabbed Caleb, some bottled water, and a towel. Off we went to the city pool. (Jon was happy doing projects around the house). Whoever came up with the concept of city pools was a genius. For $3 I can get both of us in for as long as we like. The best $3 I ever spent. Caleb thoroughly enjoyed himself for about an hour, then decided the only fun thing would be to run (yes, I said run) around the perimeter of the pool. This posed 2 problems. One, children aren't allowed to run at the pool. Try telling that to my 20 month old. Two, he was running about 6 inches from deep water. Oh my. I finally decided it wasn't worth wrestling him into the pool, so we left. I really would've been happy staying another hour, but there's no use arguing with a 20 month old that has decided he thinks he knows what's best. The cutest thing was that 3 kiddos (ages 3 and 4) kept wanting to "play with Caleb". Caleb is so big children think he's older. The little boy said, "Can I play with you?" Of course Caleb just stared at him since his vocab is limited to 'ball' and 'bye-bye'. ha! The little girl kept wanting to hug, and yes, kiss him. May be this is why Caleb wanted out of the pool....It is fun seeing him begin to interact with his peers. I look forward to the day I don't have to stand 2 feet away from him the whole time. For now, I don't take my eyes off of him for a second!

I'll admit I love a good summer thunderstorm. However my heart does go out to the flood victims so near our home. I'm sure they see these rainstorms (we're having one right now) and just sigh, watching the water pour right back into their basements. All that hard work and for what, they just have to do it all over again. I think many of the houses will be destroyed and not rebuilt. I've read some articles to say the county may do a buy out. Most of these people had no flood insurance.

Well, I've enjoyed the past several days being back in my home after vacation. The saying is true, "There's no place like home". There's really no place I'd rather be than with my Caleb and my Jonathan. sigh. I am happy.

Enjoy the day tomorrow worshipping in Spirit and in Truth.

  • Fantastic day

I LOVED Gettysburg. Wow. It was fantastic. The Museum is brand spanking new this year, and boy, did it deliver! I've been reading Team of Rivals (recommendation by Karen H. ). It's over 800 pages and I'm about 1/3 of the way through it. It is so timely that I am reading this book since Lincoln's face is of course plastered all over the Museum. It really helped my book come alive for so many reasons! My sister-in-law purchased Gods and Generals. I think that will be my next book. I really have such a deep appreciation for history. Growing up in Alaska really hindered us children from experiencing the historical sites that the U.S. have to offer. (And vice versa, as Alaskans we experienced many things other never will). I think school age children benefit so much from experiencing things first hand vs. reading about them in books.

Whenever I think about introducing my child(ren) to the things I never got to see, I get all teary eyed. That may sound very strange. But the Lord has blessed me with an amazing husband that I love to travel with. He has as much of an appreciation for educating our child(ren) as I do. I know that the next 20 years (especially) will be full of wonderful memories as we raise our child(ren). I keep saying child(ren) b/c Caleb is our only child right now. Nothing else is gauranteed. We pray for more, but only the Lord knows those details.

Jonathan and I purchased a National Park "Passport" in Gettysburg. It has many pages that gives you the opportunity to get a National Park Stamp at all of your destinations. My mother-in-law said they filled an entire book up as a family! Well, we were able to get our first "stamp" Yeah! We're already scouting out where we're going to go next! There's a couple sites we can conquer in Indiana.

This has been a jam packed trip to PA. Lititz, Dutch Wonderland, Gettysburg, etc...What an awesome trip with some fantastic adventures! I've enjoyed this vacation to PA more than any other. I'm sure part of it has to do with how interactive Caleb has become! He has truly blossomed with his personality. He loves his Aunts, Nana, and Grampa so much! I love seeing him interact with them and "love" on them in his own Caleb way. He has a sweet spirit and is growing into such a precious little boy. I love him dearly.

Have a great Sunday worshipping the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Blessings. Can't wait to return and see my dear family and friends again soon! Love you guys.

  • Vacation Mode

Well, we've been having a good ole time here in PA. It's a longer vacation than usual, which is nice, because we can just relax and not worry about leaving soon. I like it. Plus we've had a chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful Lancaster area. This is such a fantastic area for people with children. The highlight was taking Caleb to Dutch Wonderland, which is an amusement park for families. Caleb thoroughly enjoyed himself on many of the rides and then in the evening (after a trip home for a nap!) we returned for the water park. It's all 100% kid friendly. Which I loved of course. It was so cute seeing my little boy going on "rides" by himself. When I get home I will post video footage of some of the rides. Very cute!

I've noticed Caleb is starting to get interested in taking off his diaper...ugh...I was hoping he would just skip that stage. Evidently I'm gonna have to distract him when he tries to do that. Yesterday he ran off before I could get his diaper on him (from a diaper change). He ran promptly into Nana's dining room where all the ladies were. Granted I could've done a lot more to reach him faster. But it was kind of funny. He's usually fine w/o a diaper, well he obviously had to pee, cause he did it right there on the dining room floor. Everyone shrieked and poor Caleb fell into a pool of tears. I felt bad.

Today we are off to Gettysburg. I'm really looking forward to this since I have yet to go. Should be pretty interesting, especially since I have a huge love for history. Especially U.S. history. Being the 4th of July weekend, I'm sure there will be plenty of extra special events going on as well. Yeah!

I have lots of vacation pics to post, so next week I'll post them. Have a great weekend everyone!
