| THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MIGUEL DREEBUSH Chapter 1: The First Day It was Miguel Dreebush’s first day at his new job, and he was really excited. Sure, he missed everybody from Tennent, but he couldn’t wait to start teaching at Bensalem High School. He remembered when he was a high school student, and he was excited to see what kind of students he would be teaching. He certainly hoped that they were as nice and talented J as the children he had taught at William Tennent High School the previous year. He marched assertively down the hallways towards the band room, politely nodding at anyone and everyone he saw. Miguel could not have been more excited; his dream had finally come true. By the time he reached the band room, Miguel was smiling from ear to ear. He certainly hoped that his students were just as excited as he was. However, Miguel was in for a big surprise when he opened the door to the band room. It was complete chaos. Paper airplanes were flying, instruments were being thrown about the room, and to Miguel’s horror, the picture of him and his saxophone was being torn to shreds by a very angry piccolo player. Miguel had absolutely no idea what to do, so he decided to hide under the piano until he composed himself. He really wished that he was back at Tennent, throwing tape at people and telling them how badly they sucked. Oh well, it was too late for that now…he had to get this class in line. Just as he was about to come out from hiding, a mallet nearly knocked him out, so he stayed under the piano for a few more minutes. By the time Miguel gained enough composure to confront the class, there was only about 10 minutes left. He stood up nice and tall, and started screaming at the kids, and although most of it made no sense at all, he was convinced that he had gotten his point across. The kids were silent; their new teacher, Mr. Dreebush, was serious, and he meant business. The bell rang, the children shuffled out, and Miguel was quite proud of himself. Not a bad first day…he was sure that his good friend Leena Gennox would love to hear this story! Chapter 2: Texas?! Miguel was so upset when he heard the news. Leena was leaving for Texas! What was he going to do? He wanted to go see her to tell her goodbye, but by the time he arrived at her house, she had already left. Miguel started to cry; he was going to miss Leena very much. She was his best friend in the whole world, and she had just left without even saying anything. He began to ask around, looking to find out if anyone knew anything about Leena’s whereabouts. Soon, he was off to Texas, and he couldn’t wait to see Leena. He had so much to tell her! When he finally found her, she was so excited to hear about all of the happenings at Bensalem, but she was only able to visit for about a half hour. As they talked and drank coffee, Miguel mentioned that he would not mind moving out to Texas too, but Leena told him that it would be better if he stayed in Pennsylvania. Disheartened, Miguel left Texas to return to his job, and he was anything but excited. Chapter 3: The Concert It had been three months since Leena left for Texas, and although Miguel still missed her, he needed to focus on getting the band ready for its annual winter concert. Everything was going well; the kids were showing a lot of improvement, and he could not wait to show everyone what he had accomplished. Concert night rolled around, and everything was going perfectly. The kids had made a complete turnaround, and it looked like they were going to pull it off. As Miguel walked onto the stage, he saw a familiar face in the front row. It was Leena! This performance would have to be special, and more importantly, spotless. He most definitely wanted to impress Leena, and as he opened the score to Esprit De Corps (his favorite song), he was extremely confident. The performance went well, but it was not as good as Miguel thought it was going to be, and he was very upset. Leena would definitely not be impressed with that less-than-stellar performance. He saw her coming towards him, and he turned his head and began to walk away. He didn’t want to hear what she had to say. However, just then, she grabbed him by the hand and pulled him into a huge hug. “Great job,” she whispered into Miguel’s ear, and he couldn’t have been happier. He may not have been very happy with his performance, but everyone else sure was. Miguel left the auditorium with Leena, and they both lived happily ever after. THE END dear lord i love band essays |
