We have a new great nephew! + update

My mom (Nora Lee Ingle) called and said my brother Ned is a grandpa again!! His son Jarrod and wife Sharon became parents this evening - April 24 - to a baby boy named Derek Michael Ingle. He weighed 8# 11oz. and was 20 inches long. He has dark curly hair like his grandpa Ned! Jarrod, Sharon and Sofia were back at Thanksgiving (they live in California). It was so good to see them and we send them our congratulations and look forward to pictures. This makes my mom's 17th great grandchild!! The most recent ones born within the past year are: Ben and Emily--a baby girl, Paige, born in February; Matt and Kelly--a baby girl, Alexandria, born Nov. 7; Marc and Ginger--a baby boy, "Shea", born Sept 23. Praise the Lord for each and every one! Grandpa Vern loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren VERY MUCH!!

An update on Bruce: he is SLOWLY improving....tires very easily, still sore on his right side, etc. He hasn't gotten test results yet. Thank you for all of your prayers and concern.

This time of year I am reminded of my dad and his mushroom adventures. He loved to go and he loved to share. He was known around Pleasantville as THEE mushroom hunter. When we were going through his things, we found 3 or 4 little books with the mushroom spots written down! We thought about auctioning them off.....but, they will remain memories for the family. Which reminds me, Dave---do you have all 4 of those?? One time Dad's feet got so sore from all of the walking he did, mom got a picture of him soaking one foot in a 5 gallon bucket of water, surrounded by his treasure of mushrooms all around the bucket!!

What a good crop of grandkids for your family!!  Congratulations to all!

Thanks for sharing the story about your dad and his mushroom hunting expeditions. I was in fifth grade when we moved away from our farm with mushroom hunting timber north of St. Charles. I do remember looking for them- being advised that you could find mushrooms where there was rotting wood and after discovering the treasures, filling bread sacks with them. So exciting. And something that I regret to this day is turning my nose up at eating them. How could I have been so silly???  I thought they looked non-appetizing.

If you find the picture of your dad soaking his feet, that would be nice to see that. To know your dad, was to love and respect him. He was cut out of good cloth.

We continue to keep Bruce in our minds and prayers- glad to hear that he is making progress. Too bad he and Tom can't hang out and recuperate together.

I was just looking last night at pictures of Grandpa and feeling sad but then I remembered the great hope we have in Jesus Christ & was glad he is in a better waiting place.

I would like to see a sample of one of his mushroom books. He was the Mushroom King!

I miss Dad and keep praying for him. It's been a long road for him and you both.

Thanks for sharing the good news about the CA Ingle's! Can't wait to see pictures.

Everytime I look at the profile picture I am struck at how much Matt looks like Dad when he was younger
