eck, I'm in a very offing mood lately. I think I just want school over.

Monday, May 14, 2007

Allah's Will

So today, us kids were totally stoked about going to chi-town, and we were all like "woo-hoo!" only to come to school to find out that the trip was postponed because a teacher was sick (mind you she hasn't been at school now for a while) so we were like "NOW it makes a difference?" And so the principal was totally stressing out, and we were stressing out as well (and that's what you get for being so last-minute). Meanwhile, the teacher that was going with us told us that there was a problem with finding teacher substitutes, since the principal didn't like whatever person was supposed to sub. So while we are freaking out over "What's wrong with the sub person?" another problem comes, which is that the amount of test booklets for the little kids is not enough (and this was the postponed test-taking date too!) So us kids are just sitting in the room being upset, and people are constantly asking us about the trip, to which we replied "WE DON'T KNOW". So finally at 12 we ask the principal about what's going on, because we thought he'd be done with tests, so he's like "ok I'll pray istikhara." So after a bit (like after an hour or so) we find out that we ARE going to Chicago so we were like "yay alhamdullilah" oh let me tell you me and this other girl were screaming because we were happy, without realizing the principal was at the door *embarrasing, very*. He thought it was funny. Then, so, when we're getting our bags- the teacher who was supposed to go with us gets sick. Turns out she has like food poisoning from this stuff she ate, so she's like super sick and her husband has to pick her up *Allah yashfiha* Meanwhile the other kids who aren't going are looking at us and saying "is THIS enough of a sign for you?" so we were like "yeah, yeah" and totally bummed because that's been the fourth problem I mean the first one is the main girl who this trip was mostly for wasn't going to go cuz her dad was like "no" so when she gets permission, teacher is really sick and doesn't show, test booklets are short, when we get permission, chaperone teacher gets sick. So we didn't go today, but he said we could try tomorrow. Of course, then we might go with a different chaperone *which I'm sure the girls will love, considering they really wanted the other one to go* and the school's going to lose money on hotel bookings and stuff anyway.

The moral of this story is that: If Allah wills something, nothing you can do will ever change that, and His Will will always happen. See, we wanted to go, and one after another something came up and got resolved, but the bottom line is it was not Allah's Will for us to go today (or maybe at all). So all you can say is alhamdullilah, because you don't know what could have happened.

Wednesday, May 09, 2007

You don't expect these things to happen.
But they do.
So what do you do?

Tuesday, May 08, 2007

I finished reading slaughterhouse five. later this one girl was like "the best friend is the one that stays with you your entire life, like wherever you go, they go" we were like "?!?!" and she's like "don't worry, you'll get your best friend one day."

That comment made me so undescribably angry...I felt like somebody had gashed my heart. yay.

Well, three of the major teachers (principal included) were gone (one came later), so it was mad chaos everywhere.

I'm kind of dreading Monday...wait...don't I always dread Monday?

I played dodgeball, and got all sweaty. it was cool, we stayed in a cottage-esque thing. I liked going to the canyon. No, don't think "grand canyon".

gosh, I really intended to write something on here...conviniently forgotten...

this speech thing that kept getting delayed I will inshaAllah be making tomorrow, and then well the paper itself kept delayed, alhamdullilah that was actually a good thing, because then I was able to work on it more. nevertheless, I spent all of last week and the first part of this getting inadequate sleep, which took its toll last week, as I got sick.

I didn't read a play, so I couldn't take the quiz for it...hehe...well I got to do an essay about it overnight so I guess maybe she'll replace the grades or give me something?

I think the girl next to me in one of my classes is a widow. Seriously. (no, this is not high school class)

I've got a test tomorrow, so I'd better study for that. And I've got to read for this other class. And I've got to finish reading ^^^.

So I will. After I watch Naruto.

*edit* Naruto apparently isn't in yet. eck...looks like they delayed the new episode a week...

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Why are people motivated to do certain things? Is it out of fear? Out of yearning for acceptance?

So, someone remind me why I am staying up late today to continue a paper that is due Thursday when I have a Quran test tomorrow? Oh yeah...because I don't want to stay up late tomorrow. eh, can't win 'em all.

Today we had to build a seesaw gadget for some little kids. The pieces were metallic. Needless to say, the boys in our group took the event as an opportunity for competition, and for gloating, boasting, and whatever else. So, while they rattled on about how they were going to finish first and how us women are all so slow, I produced several reasons for their incessant taunting.

A) Because they just have a thing for competing;

B) They probably have more experience building things;

or, my favorite:

C) Because this is something they can actually do and are able to talk about how much better they are at it than us (because they sure don't have a case in the academic fields)

To elaborate on how much better they are at it than us, they finished building in around 40 minutes, while we spent 30 minutes trying to do step 2 (which was basically connected to step 1)

Now that I think about it, I think step one was maybe turn the base bars or w/e over so we could screw the nuts in?

Eventually, our group grew from three ladies to five and we were still having trouble. After roughly two hours, we still couldn't finish it, and will have to continue tomorrow. I really think the pieces were defective.

In our defense, we read the instructions, while the boys just looked at the picture (which explains their leftover pieces).

My family and I are going on a trip to some other city (oh yes, to those confused individuals, we only have TWO DAYS off this week!) over the long weekend we have. I am taking this as a much-needed vacation, so natrually, I am not bringing any schoolwork along. Maybe I'll bring along that *see above* book.
