The isssue for this week is this:
What if scientists find a "homosexual gene"?
My response is that this will ruin the argument for homosexuality in two ways. The first is that it will undermine the idea that homosexuality is part of human freedom, which is the most common argument I hear for homosexual marriage. Shouldn't they be free to marry according to their own desires? (I am strongly agaisnt homosexual marriage so you know)
The second way is that if there is such a gene then people are programmed one way, taking away human freedom, and cannot escape it. However, the very second someone who has this gene fights back and overcomes the gene, their entire basis is gone.
God would not have created man in such a way that after salvation he would still have no way of fighting a sin, but that is just what some Christians seem to say to justify the sin of homosexuality.
