Whew, I finally figured out how to update; Grace, I miss you!!! Now, I hope to figure out how to respond on other xanga sites...or how to respond to responders on my site...it's taxing on a 44 year old computer-illiterate mind.

We have seen our dear college freshmen off for new adventures, and volleyball night just doesn't seem the same with all of the "seniors" gone.  This Thursday night will be the last volleyball night of the season; time to get the school ball rolling. We have had a wonderful summer and hope to hear updates from all the seniors and will lift them up in prayer.

We leave on Aug. 31 (Chris' birthday) to go see him in Colorado Springs!!  We get to attend classes with him, have lunch with him in the cafeteria, and take him to our "home" for three nights!!! Let me just say that this event will be the highlight of our year thus far.  We have enjoyed good communication with him through e-mails and Sunday phone calls.  Upon my return, perhaps I shall venture into more of the unknown...and post photos????

I am currently meditating on Isaiah 30:15  "In repentance and rest you will be saved.  In quietness and trust is your strength."  This verse has helped me overcome worry with my son at the Air Force Academy.  It helps me to remember that worry robs me of strength, and faith brings strength.  I can do this. (By the grace of God.)

I'm currently reading Facing Terror by Carrie McDonnall.  It's the story of the 5 missionaries (SBaptist) who were attacked by rebels in Iraq.  While stuck in traffic in Mosul, they were pummeled with gunfire at close range through the truck windows. Amazingly, Carrie's husband remained alive only long enough to get her to safety.  The other three died almost instantly. The book is a wonderful testimony of how God prepares people for their callings, equips them, enables them, and uses them.  The book also enables the reader to visualize a portion of life and culture in Iraq.  I hope to use it in a world geography study this year. (It also has smatterings of Arabic...perhaps I can converse with Chris...) Ok, I tried to put the little smiley, couldn't get it to work.

Tina, and family, WE LOVED HAVING YOU!!! You are always welcome in our home.  Tina, through the years, God has continued to use you to encourage and bless me so much.  I love you, sister!!!

Chris, I MISS YOU!!!  Press on, sweet son, in your calling to devote yourself to the protection of your people!!!!  I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

The blessing of friends...

Many thanks to my good friend, Grace Miller for helping me to create this site!  The Miller's delighted us with a visit from Cincinnati, Ohio.  I'm so grateful for the fellowship that results from walking with the Lord and loving His people; so refreshing...
