Well, I haven't updated in a REALLY REALLY REALLY LONG TIME, so this might be a commentary of my whole summer. Okay, so I worked at Perkins all summer and enjoyed it. Sure, there were moments, but it really wasn't that bad. It was neat to be in the "REAL WORLD" again. Not the Cedarville bubble or BaYouCa county, but the real world. I realized how desparate people are for the love of God. They have no clue. Then, I realized the amount of people who were at one point and time followers, but have wandered way off the path. They might know, but definitely don't live it or care. It's sad, and although I haven't been able to directly talk to anyone about my faith I'm positive they realized I'm different. So, work was neat. I not only worked this summer, but I taught a class when I could at church. It was cool to have my first shot at leading a class. (Even if there was a HUGE gap in the age group.) I learned a lot, and hope to teach more this school year. I was able to spend some time with my amazing family. We went to North Carolina to visit some relatives for a week. It was fun to ride horses, attempt to water ski (my first time), see ticks, go hiking, see a bear (also a first), swim in the lake and ocean, and relax. Good time. My family also visited Washington, D.C. for a few days. It was neat to remember all the American history. And almost see it. (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the War memorials, the Declaration of Independence, and Constitution.) If you ever have a chance the Smithsonian Institute was pretty awesome too. (Internation Air and Space Museum and Museum of Natural History. Although the American History Museum wasn't open we saw a part of it, and I'd highly recommend going there if you ever have the chance.) I also visited the International Spy Museum. Definitely cool stuff. This summer, I also took a trip to the Emergency Room for the first time. I also had my first stay in the hospital with kidney stones. Definitely the most painful thing I've ever experienced. (If you aren't familiar with it, pain is worse than giving birth. If I can use that as a comparison.) That was obviously a fun trip, but I finally passed the stones this weekend! Thank you for those who prayed. (I know most of you didn't know.) I was able to visit camp for about 6 hours one day. It was nice to help out a little. I miss it bunches and can't wait to be back! My relationship with God grew this summer. My devotions are steady again, after college they weren't going so well, but I've read some really really good books this summer. (If you want a list, just ask.) Right now I'm reading "Becoming A Contagious Christian" and I'd recommend it. Hopefully as I head back to Cedarville Saturday my devotions will continue to be steady. Although my major is still completely up in the air (I'm definitely going into missions somewhere, but don't have a major yet.) I'll be at Cedarville for the fall semester. You can pray that I figure out a major. I may be transferring to BBC. Pray for that as well. Thanks! Right now my grandma is in the hospital and things are kind of crazy around here. Pray for my family. There is a LOT going on, and it's not easy. Thanks! Well, it's extremely late and I work about 9 hours tomorrow. (My last day!) I'm sorry this is a bunch of jumbled thoughts about my summer. I'm to lazy to proof read it, so if something doesn't make sense just ask. Anyhow, that was my summer in a nutshell. I'd love to tell more if you want me to. : ) |
