Happy 4th of July

And so it came to pass, another long weekend "wasted" in not really doing much. For the past month or so I've been dreaming of change.  Doing stuff I don't normally do, but also not stepping too far from who I am... Not exactly sure where the drive came from but I tried acted upon it.   Going on vacations on my own (but eventually meeting friends at the place I was going), signing up for online dating sites like eHarmony (only to backout when I found out the cost of the subscription), working out (on the wii fit)... Now about a month later I feel like I am back where I started.  The trip was amazing and I did have a lot of fun, but not only was it a temporary escape, it showed me more of whats out there and made me yearn for going away more.  Next step would be my job, which at the moment isn't looking too well.  It's not like I can easily leave it with so much pressure on me.  But then again, a friend also reminded me, I've always ran away from trouble when it comes to work... and right now, in this situation, I'm doing the same... Of course, with the pride I had, I said this was different, but thinking about it.. is it?

As for eHarmony, yeah this is probably more interesting for you haha.. one of my earlier crushes found me on facebook.  In fact, she was my first crush in elementary school.  It seemed pretty weird but also made me think, did I have that kind of impression on her at our 8th grade prom that she was "bored" enough to look me up and find me?  And so I set off to try at least one online dating site.. Ive heard much about eHarmony, how it was more for serious people out there looking for "that someone.'"  However, I was also hoping there was some free trial period that came with it... who would have thought "that someone" would cost $60 for just one month or $20/month if I got the year plan.  I mean... this would come out to be more expensive than my online games like WoW!  But there was that one person who caught my eye.. Pamela.  She had a pretty amusing profile.  Humor is still the quality I look for most. But this was still too rich for my blood, at least for now..

And yes finally we come to my "progress" on the Wii Fit.  I was doing pretty well for about a month doing like 5 30-60 workouts a day per week... That is... until one unfateful day where I woke up in  the morning and I started having a cramp on my right leg.  Man....Ive never had such a serious cramp because once the episode was over, I almost felt like I couldn't walk!  I had to pee too! so it was a great chore for me to "run" to the bathroom right afterwards.  Took me about an hour of massaging and stretching before I felt confident to walk again with a massive limp.   It wasnt until another day and a half before the pain subsided, and that was with the help of 2 advils (aka wonder medicine) too! So since then, I've been quite lax with my workouts which has now become more like 2 times a week for about 30 mins.   A damn shame if you ask me, but then again, I wasn't seeing any progress with what I have done so far.  It kinda sucks that it has to tell you, "You're overweight!" in  that cutesy voice also -___-.

And now its back to work I go... and so my weekend came to pass.

So after having come back from my vacation, you would think I'm all refreshed and ready for work again! It IS true to some extent.  I was able to pick up from where I left off and be able to follow up to opened items.  But not before the week was over, comes the news  that we have narrowed down our initiative to a have a few more projects for the next few weeks and out of a group of 10 or so developers, out of 8 or so items, I would be involved in 5!  3 of which I will probably be personally working on and 2 I'd be overlooking.  I mean its nice and all that I guess I'm an asset to the company but dude! I feel like I'm carrying a lot of the development work when we have 10 developers!!!! Bleh! So over the course of these few weeks, I was able to make a working demo of 2 of these 3 items.  I'm working hard towards getting them done but Im also trying to pace myself now so I don't wanna seem like I can over exert myself so much, I can deliver super fast.  Some may think this is good but over time working here, it seems like they just expect more outta you. *sigh*

In other good news, G whom I met in my SF trip below is back in the east coast with her family now, decided to visit NY yesterday.  This also gave me an excuse to take the day off hehehe and of course that would mean it was my turn to show her around and be a tour guide, which is something no longer new for me.  So I took a more common route.  Always meet in ctown, have lunch at either New Malaysia which is where we went (or Big Wongs).   Seems like New Malaysia remodeled also!! so they look a lil classier now and they don't have the banana plant in the corner we've all grown to love =[.  To be honest, it looks like that was a bad idea since business wasnt booming as usual, like how it used to be even during lunch time!!! The curry is still good tho as I had my usual Curry chicken on rice.   The pancake seems to have decreased in size tho.  I never really liked it but usually whomever I eat with, we would all share it and there'd still be left overs!!

Anyways so after lunch was the real tour! I took her south first to Brooklyn Bridge, Pace Uni, City Hall, 911 site.  Then took the subway to Whitehall and took the SI ferry over to Staten Island.  Did I mention this ferry ride was.. FREE :D.  And it passes by the Statue of Liberty pretty close to boot! So all you tourists who wants to snap pics and have a free and quick ride, this is the way to do it hehe.  After arriving at SI, we came back and headed up manhattan to Rockerfeller.  Looks like that japanese book store, Kinokunia is gone now and have moved.  And while we were here, of course we'd have to stop by the Nintendo store.  I took a new DS pic on G's camera so hopefully I can update my profile pic as soon as I get it.   I also forced G into playing a quick WiiFit game hehe which she had a lotta trouble with.  So it was definitely amusing to watch :P Then we went up to the second floor and watched some ppl play Rock Band (and failing) hahahahaha XD Im so mean...   Then a Mario Kart station opened up so I showed G how to play then had her play that while recording her on her own camera so she can see how idiotic she looked :P hehehe Too bad it wasn't on my own camera.  So I don't a copy of the movie =[.

And before you know it, it was 4:30 already!! stayed half an hour more than I had planned! The nintendo store is sooo fun :P  But we had to head towards Union Sq now (skipping Times Sq & the Macy area since shes been there b4).    Met up with 2 of her friends, Jason and Winnie (tho I thought I heard Twinnie so Im  still unsure).  Being the usual shy self that I am, I was pretty silent the first half hour or so as we continued with my touring plan to visit the NYU area/Village.  Snapped a few pics there then decided to go towards St Alps near St Marks so we can take a rest stop and get a drink.  Mmmm Apple Green Tea =P~~~ the only drink I really like from them places.  Never really liked tapioca.. bleh!  So we sat down and started talking a lil more and it seems Jason was a big fan of Warcraft.  So we ended up talking about it so much, the other 2 girls (my friend and his sis Winnie) just ended up watching how engaged in conversation we were hahaha. It was funny too cuz I guess neither one have seen the other (Winnie and Jason, G and I) talk with so much passion and blah blah blah.   Anyways, seemed like they were pretty cool friends since they were from NY also and there was a lotta other common stuff BESIDES GAMES we could talk about.   So next it was off to walking down St Marks to show them wat food were available for dinner.. but we ended up going to JasMart, a japanese supermarket.  Stocked up on some junk food and we started walking back to Broadway... Passed by Menkutei (noodle place).  I mentioned  this was her last chance to grab a quick dinner before heading back.. but alas no one was hungry.   So instead, the last hour, we spent just walking back to Ctown.  YES WALKED! haha  So I got to know Winnie a lil more this time as we were the pair that walked in front and it seems she was kinda frustrated by "other factors" @ work but also enjoys what she does with a passion. So much  that she doesn't mind hard work.. unlike me haha.  So that was a good chat and it seemed like she knew a lotta good restaruants around NY so I gotta pick her brain a lil more often if I have the chance.

Finally after a 30 or so min walk which didn't really seem that long with good company, we finally arrived at Ctown.  Stopped by the bakery to grab more snacks for the road and then G was off to catch her bus. Since I didn't have dinner, I stopped by Big Wongs and was finally able to get the SoySauce Chicken & Roast Pork on rice that Ive been craving for the past month! :D Also called home and picked up food for my family also!  So I ended up looking like a gai see por (street market lady).  I was also debating if I should pick up some congee for breakfast or not. Ended up deciding not cuz I didnt wanna carry more and I was afraid it was gonna go bad. But in retrospect,  I think I should have anywaysss... that way I could be eating it now instead of writing this hahahaha.  Ah well.... so I go home and so the day ends ... I dun wanna go to workkkkk >_<

SF Day 4, 5 & 6

Hehe figured it was time I finished my journal..

Day 4
Finally had my chance to go around San Fran on my own since I was ditching E and H today to wanted to spend some time with G.   So I made my way to the airport to take the BART(subway) to G's area then had lunch with her.  She then took me for a nice tour of her area then to Golden Gate Bridge.  Too bad it was all foggy that day though, but it was still fun.  It was pretty windy too hehe so we were pretty cold.  Then after that, it was off to SFSU.  I got to see her campus and even got a chance to draw a lil turtle next to her name in the wall of graduates. Hehehe XD.  Next it was off to Castro, this supposedly gay area.  Not that I have anything against gays but Im just not fond of the idea of being surrounded by too many.  I'd like to see some straight women too! Hehe. But luckily for me, it was still the afternoon so there weren't too many queers(I'm kidding!!! :P). Finally it was off to JTown.  Even got to meet up with one of G's classmates.  They caught up for a bit until like 5 mins into the conversation they remember I was there too so I get introduced -_-.  Then it was time for dinner so we stopped at this japanese place (JTown duh!) and had this really good applely flavored sake.  I had a few cups and I was all red ~_~.  Then it was time to head back but we got lost so we ended up going downtown SF in this nice shopping area.  Good thing there was a BART station there too and off to home I go. Thanks a lot to G for showing me around today.  Gotta give her a proper thank you someday for that.

Day 5 pt 1
So today was the last day before heading back.  Today was also when H was heading back so we met up for breakfast at Millbrae Pancake House with E, H & D.  Man I haven't seen D in so long but he still seems  the same.  Hehe all secretive and all.  But he was nice.  After we were done, we split up. E took H to the airport while D took me to San Jose for the second part of my day.

Day 5 pt 2
So today was also the day I meet up with A.  We've been speaking on the phone for a while but never actually having met, it seemed kinda weird.   G too was someone new but somehow I felt more at ease with her.  Prolly cuz shes kinda crazy :P Anyways so D drove us up to D&B and we spent sometime playing Time Crisis 4.  Made it all the way to the last boss but our credits ran out =[.  But it was still fun after not having been to the arcade in years.  Finally A made her way here and D went off his separate way.  So A was saying how D was my chaperone hehe.  Anyways we went to grab a bite to eat then we went to watch Chonicles of Narnia 2: Prince Caspian.  It was a pretty good movie and well worth the $$ but still it didn't measure up to  the first one.  Then we walked around a bit more until it was time for dinner and I had my salad for the week hehe.  Finally seeing that it was getting late, she drove me back to my hotel and so ends the final day.  Again gotta thank her again for keeping me company today even after coming back from her asia trip.

Day 6
Time to go back!  Left to go to the airport a lil early so I can take advantage of the free wifi internet they had there and also have a chance to grab a light lunch.  On the plane ride back, I watched The Forbidden Kingdom which was kinda cheese but still worth watching.   The rest of the way, I flipped thru the channels and found Top Chef to be pretty interesting.   Watched all the way to the Finale!! but it was time to get off. Ugh.  Good thing I was able to dl that today and finally finish it and see who wins.

Epilogue
And so all in all, this was a great trip and met my expectations if not surpassed it.   E and her family were very hospitable and nice so it felt really good and not awkward (except for one point where I was kinda questioned at the dinner table) but I guess t hats to be expected also hehe.   SF was a bit chillier than what I had expected but still bearable.  The food was decent tho I don't recall it being especially goodor bad.  And the feeling there was terrific and exactly what I needed... people who are laid back and relaxed.  Not rushing everything and worrying about stuff like in NY.   I think I'd come back again soon given he chance and $$ of course hehe.

Quick Updates:
* My WoW account is officially cancelled as of Jun 13.
* My sis got Wii Fit and yes, it says Im over weight.  But I have been trying  to get into the habit of doing a work out a few times a week.
* After having one of my earliest crushes find me on fb and seeing that she's married now, it sparked me to start thinking about how I can start finding my own soulmate out there.  I've gone as far as checking out a few online dating sites like eHarmony until I ran into the brick wall where I can't really see pics or communicate with anyone unless I pay a hefty fee -_-.
* And speaking of a hefty fee, I have plopped down a good chunk into a lifetime membership of Lord of the Rings Online -_-.  Yeah I gave up one MMORPG for another hahaha.  But in all  honesty, I havent really been playing it since I got back from vacation trying to put my focus on other stuff higher on my priority list.
* Rediscovered the convenience of http://www.pandora.com/ again :P

And lastly, results of a cheesy quiz I took on facebook. Pretty ironic as I think I've gotten so used to being single I really probably did see all girls as just friends never giving too much thought to bringing it to another level until its too late now -_-.  Ah well!~~~

I'm Independent romantic
You don't really care about girls! You see them as friends and don't need one for you to be happy. Girls love this. You love to party and hang out with friends, and just have a good time. But be careful!! One day you'll probably just start seeing girls as more than friends so don't blow off all the girls now!! Keep being you!!

SF Day 2 & 3

Day 2
Today I got to meet Jackson, E's bf.  He was our driver for the day.  So thanks to him, we got to go to a few places today, the day for our typical trip to ctown just to see how the chinese communities here are.  So it looks like there are quite a bit of chinese ppl here but its still not as big as the one in NYC.  However, it was still interesting nonetheless.  We went to eat lunch at ABC.  I had myself a cha siu wonton mein.  It wasn't that great cuz it seemed a bit plain.  But I guess its also good cuz that also means theres less msg then we normally have in NY.  The cha siu was pretty good too but it aint no NYC cha siu.  Then we went around to do some souviner shopping.  Then we got some of the infamous darn tart at this Golden Gate place.

Afterwards it was finally time to make our way to Fishermen's Wharf, the hottest tourist spot in SF.  So we started our walk  from pier 39.  Walked around there looking for sea lions.  Being that it was by the sea, it was pretty damn windy there.  We walked a bit more across the area and made a pit stop at "In n Out," a left coast exclusive fastfood place.  Being the unhealthy eater that I am, I had to try it out :P.  So I had my first In n Out burger. Yumyum.  Then we walked down to Ghridelle Square where I bought some dark chocolate.  Finally we walk back to the car and we go back to E's place to rest up a bit.  Then it was din
ner time at E's Aunt and Uncle's place.  The food was great, especially the spicy jellyfish! And there was so much other food too!  Anyways, after eating we went back to E's place again, and tried a bit of Lianna's pasta.  I couldn't really eat anymore so I only had a bite but that was good too :P.  Then it was time to head back to the hotel.  Decided to order the internet service that night to check up on some stuff online and go chat a bit :P But damn was it expensive! Ah well...

Day 3
Great America! Wooo :D We went to Millbrae station to pick up G.  Then we were off!  Think today was the best day since we had the most people today.  E, H, G, L, her friend and me :D.  We must have went on every coaster there but it was amazing!  I haven't been on one in years!  The first one was still the best one tho.. FlightDeck or something.  We were worried about getting sick after eating from rides so we went on as much as we could.  By around 2pm we were starved!!!  We had corndogs/sausages and curly fries.  Mmmm curly fries.  I must have had so much cuz not everyone were able to finish theirs so I ended up finishing for them hehe :P We also went on this log ride where E was sitting in front of me and got hella went, especially her socks.  But the look on her face was priceless hahahaha!  I must have been laughing for like 5 mins straight.   We also got some dipping dots so today I got to try that for my very first time.  Also played some DDR with G cuz I saw her looking at it while we were walking around looking at arcade games.  She was surprisingly good but alas, still not as good as moi ;)  Still, Im not as good as I used to be.  Finally, at night it was time to go so we headed back to G's area and we had Olive Garden.  Our waiter was some leng jai so E took so many pics of him and got to know so much about him :P.  Man she's soooo "friendly" and social. Hahaha.  Finally, when all was eaten(doggie bagged) and done, we drove G home then me home.

Day 1

"This morning will be rough, but tonight will be magical. Have fun!" Morning wake was fine but I didn't have a chance to have breakfast :[.  Left the house at 6:30am and got to the airport at 7.  Plenty ahead on schedule since my flight was 8.  After a bit of walking and checking in and all that stuff.. finally I make my way to gate 7 as they were already starting to board already!  So everyones boarded already at 7:45 so the captain annouced we could leave early! Woot!  So I start exploring the tv channels we have.  Tick tock tick tock.. its 8:35am.. Unfortunately, we spent a lotta time waiting for an opening to lift off >_<.  So instead of early, we left half an hour late!  So now that we're finally flying along, I spend more time flipping thru the channels.  Woot they have the sci-fi channel! No need to bring out the laptop with all my movies hehe.  For food, I had some chocolate chips and this chip mix thing.  Man was I starving.  Finally a few hours into the flight, my tv channel selector stopped working! >_< Good thing it was on Sci Fi before it stopped working hehe so I can live with watching random crap from there.   Till finally we land, BUT...... we were in San Jose!!!  Apparently we were circling around  SFO for a while but the weather conditions were bad. Ugh... I also got the msg that Helen arrived early.  Double ugh.  I was gonna land then look for her cuz she was gonna arrive half an hour after me.  So we refueled, fly up for like a few mins then it was time to land again lolz!  So I finally arrive at SFO at 1pm.  1 1/2 hour later than when I was gonna get there.. =[. Rough morning indeed!

But once I got there, it was alllll goood :D  H E & L(E's sis) came to pick me up.. yeah HELL came hehehe.  And more importantly, we got food!! and I met E & L's mom.  Then we went to E's place and played some Mario Kart.  But then we figured since we were here on vacation, cant spend too much time on games so we headed out again and went to a nearby mall to walk around a bit.  After that was Jamba Juice! Ive finally walked into my first Jamba Juice after having not gone in even when they opened ones in NYC.  Had myself this mango a go go thing and it was pretty good!  Not sure I wanna turn this into a habitual thing tho since its still pretty $_$.  Then we stopped by Gamestop to pick up 2 more controllers so we can play 4 player mario kart ^_^.  Came back and kicked ass hehehe.  Then played some Wii Tennis and got my ass kicked :P.  Man I havent played in too long.  Then it was almost time for dinner and I was pretty hungry cuz by that time it was like 7pm PST/10pm EST.  We went to Benihana and had sushi which wasn't all that bad as I was thinking it to be.  But still not as good as my ny monthly Tokyo Cafe tho hehe.

Finally it was time to go back and check into my hotel.  So E's dad drives us to Fishermen's Wharf and then we realize they booked  the Mariotte near the airport instead.. so we had a nice preview of Sunday's intinerary by driving thru downtown SF and ctown hehe.  Finally we make it back to the Mariotte near the airport. Take a nice shower and had a good nite's sleep cuz I was pooped!
