McCain=Bush's Third Term

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Twenty-four students in Chicago Public Schools have died so far this school year as a result of gun violence. But, of course, since it's on the sides of the city that are impoverished, there isn't much being done and it is not getting much coverage. BUT, when ONE person shoots 20 people it's national news. Obviously both scenarios are awful, but it bothers me that shootings keep happening in Chicago (usually after school, not in school) and not much is being done.

Twenty-four. That's ridiculous.

I think that I liked xanga a lot when we lived in Bartlesville, because I had a way to vent and I could make ordinary things seem more important. Maybe that's not fair to say. They seemed important at the time.

But now life is much...fuller? and I don't feel the need to write about it a whole lot...just living it is enough. And I'm just an overall happier person. It's amazing how much my attitude changed by leaving Oklahoma and coming to a place I fit in a little better. There is so much to love about life right now and very little to complain about. The only negative thing I have against Chicago is the winter. But I can deal with that.

I love my school and I have developed so many great friendships with people at Columbia
I love my husband and our marriage is wonderful. Not perfect, not always easy, but still wonderful.
I love Chicago. It's an amazing city and it's so great to live here. The winters do suck, but the summers are perfect.
I love riding my bike all over the city.
I love going to new restaurants and doing new things.
I love our garden.
I love our friends and the community we are developing together.

Life is good.

KU Takes it ALL 75-68

It finally happened. I am still in complete shock. It happened in my conscious lifetime and I can die happy.

I've been saying "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" since I could talk.

I love you KU.

I wish I lived in Lawrence right now. It's driving me crazy that I won't be able to celebrate in Mass St if we win on tomorrow!!! I'll be there in spirit.
