  • Open Air Preaching

So, is everyone called to Open Air? I ask because I think maybe I should be doing that in addition to one on one, but I am not sure that it's a calling, versus just me trying to add some filthy rags to my collection...

  • Praying to be Broken?

    Hi there,

So, have any of you ever prayed for brokenness? Just wondering. I know that many times we find ourselves in a place of brokenness through events in our lives, or emotions that attack us, or any number of reasons. Death in the family, unrepentent friends, etc. I think it can be fairly stated that most times we don't like getting to the broken part, but that we do learn from it, and grow in our faith after He restores us.

But have you ever, when things are just going along smoothly, prayed for God to break you? Crazy thought, I know. Trust me, I am not lightly recommending it either, because this is a prayer that always ( at least for me) seems to be answered precisely how it is prayed. I used to not recommend this at all, for knowing just how low we have to be brought to really be broken. But then I remembered the growth that came of it. Then I remembered the trust I learned to give to my Lord through it. Then I remembered the pride that was revealed to me in my life, of which I was formerly clueless.

I am wondering what you guys think... should we pray for brokenness? Can you think of some of the pros to doing this? What does the Bible say our attitude should be towards God, and does being broken help bring us there? Is it worth a little suffering to come closer to Christ, and His love?

  • A Poll...

OK. Question time. By a show of comments, who among my regular visitors ( all two of you  ) think the Bible is to be taken literally? How many of you think it is purely poetic, or illustrative? How many of you think that there is both poetic, and literal?

What are your thoughts on why so many people who read the Bible don't believe it?

Or is it that so many who don't believe have never read it? ( I mean more than one line here, a psalm there...)

    Thanks!

@reecebiddle@revelife - yeah. it's disgusting. It's blasphemous. It's not merely a joke, I dont need to relax. thats the problem. we have become too relaxed in our view of God. He is called THE MOST HIGH for a reason. I think that it was made up by non believers, but what they dont realize is God is

@reecebiddle@revelife - Well, my home is in Florida, but I am a truck driver so quite often I live wherever my next load takes me. Hence my time for xanga. I am forced by laws ( quite annoying, and foolish laws) to take a ten hour break every day, so...How about you? Welcome to my site! Thanks for d

Hey you don't know me but I ran into this on one of the Blogrings and just wanted to say I enjoyed the reading and also thank you for helping me find a way to add music to my own blog. I figure in the course of eternity we were bound to bump into each other so a hello now would be just a good as one

only a compliment. though I was concerned that there was a complete lack of polish style yodeling. have you no taste? hehe... I was in the Seattle area a few times. It's beautiful up there. I especially enjoyed driving over Yakima, and Snoqualmie ( spelling? ) in a near blizzard. I think they closed
