| From Break to Bruise: Marvels of Modern Medicine (or not) ****WARNING!!!! DISTURBING IMAGES TO FOLLOW!!!!****
If you were to look at a red, purple and green leg, swollen to about 1.5 times its normal size, and its owner told you, "I dropped a rock on it," what would you suspect? A bruise? A break? An insane rock-hurling maniac? Take a look for yourself:

And up close:
For background, we were trying to build a dam in the creek near our grandparents house. I was collecting rocks, and decided to climb the hill so I could get some bigger and more useful ones. The blue arrow in the photo below points up the hill I climbed. I was a bit up and off to the right. One rock in particular caught my attention. In relation to my torso it was probably about 1x1.5x2 (WxLxD). So it wasn't small, but not too big either--certainly something I could handle (hahahahaha). Based on how smaller rocks were falling, I figured this one would fall down the hill to my left. When I finally got it lose however, it came straight down at me and clipped my left knee.

Well, I went to the ER, where I had some X-Rays done. The doctor looked at the X-Rays, asked a bunch of questions (after the rather insightful nurse called me a dummy), and concluded I had fractured my tibia, but without any displacement. The swelling and bruising was a result of the tibia bleeding.
Well, well, well, so much for my summer. I'd be on crutches for at least 4 weeks--or so I thought. The ER doc advised us to see an orthopedic doctor for further help. So as soon as we could (Monday), we made an appointment with the fill-in for our regular general practitioner in order to get a referral to an orthopedic doctor. On hearing I'd dropped a rock on my knee, she smiled and proceeded to examine the X-Rays.
See anything obvious?

Very good! Neither did she. She explained to us that ER docs often make a guess when they're not sure what's wrong, just so that they have a diagnosis, and that there was a good chance I didn't have a fracture at all. But one glance at my swelling told her there must be a problem. She then referred us to her favorite orthopedic doctor, who, providentially, was able to see us that very afternoon. After a brief examination, he informed me that my leg was certainly not broken, and that he would bet money I had injured my MCL (some ligament somewhere). He also said it was a common football injury. I thought that was cool--don't ask me why.
From there we went to get an MRI, and Wednesday we returned to the doctor to see the results. And now things were even better! Not only was my leg not broken, but my MCL was fine too! All I had was a massive bone bruise on my femur. A bruise! In these MRI images, the femur is the top bone (I asked my sis ) and looks considerably less solid than the lower bone; that's the bruise.

At any rate, I'll still be on crutches for probably two weeks, and may have to do some physical therapy, but hey! it's not broken, praise God! TTFN, Ta Ta For Now
| Under AttackHere's an update on the case of the photographers being sued for not photographing the sodomite wedding: http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=61342
In other news, I've got tons and tons of work to do, but today
I just played around on my computer. *contented sigh* I wanted to
set up RoundCube on my server, which would require a complete mail
system (besides HTTP, PHP, and MySQL). I thought I had SMTP already
figured out, but AT&T apparently decided they didn't want me
relaying email through their servers and thus made my Postfix configuration
worthless. So I spent a while fixing that and did some configuring of
MySQL, and now I guess IMAP will have to
wait. I'm thinking of using Courier-IMAP.
What's your opinion? | | |

| And They Strike AgainFrom a guy in my classes:
Class,
The brother of a man who goes to our church is being sued by the ACLU
because he would not take photographs for a homosexual wedding (he owns
a photography business).
The H--s are being defended by the American Defense Fund (ADF). Hearings start TODAY!
ADF has said that this has the potential to be a landmark case
regarding the rights of businesses to act on their beliefs. The
implications of this case may be HUGE.
Please pray.
K--
"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice
such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also
approve of those who practice them." (Rom. 1:28-32)
