On occasion I play games online. The most recent being Call of Duty 4. In the past I've played Halo, F.E.A.R. MP, Land of the Dead (lotd), a few skillground games (the shitty fps one for example), Cod1, and... well, a shitload of crappy fps games.

I've come to realization that you can't get too good in any online game because sore losers start calling you names like "aimbot," "h4x0r", "n00b", and the list goes on. Getting good in an online game requires one thing, concentration. Well...a few things, such as concentration, a good set of headphones (or speakers), and a good computer (for pc gamers). There are also other factors, such as personal experience. Last night I was playing call of duty 4 for like....30 minutes. It's a nice stress reliever, I'm not good at it by any standards, but I'm decent. I had a kdr (kill to death ratio) of about...1/1.5. I know...not that good. [One kill for every 1.5 deaths.] But ever since my halo days I learned to track people through walls. You know, when someone runs through a room to try to flank you and you see them, so you follow them with your mouse so you can shoot at them when they pop out of the other side. Well this one guy, thought he was smart, he shoot at me and while he was reloading he ran behind a garbage dumpster to get to cover. In cod4 you get to shoot through certain objects, so when he went back there I shot at him with my mp5. Of course, almost every shot was a hit on him since he didn't stop halfway through the run to actually go prone, he just walked on by and by the time he popped out the other side to shoot me he fell dead. Dude got pissed cos I accurately tracked him and called a Vote to Kick me. Of course, some nooblets who don't pay attention voted ys (about 7) then a user who owns the server said "any reason why?".

This dude, who sucks ass, and probably used the level 55 cheat to get every gun in the game and not work for it, said "aimbot noob".

I'm going to tell you something about online gaming. It's going to hurt you little kiddies.

YOU WANT TO PLAY A FUCKING ONLINE GAME LEARN TO PLAY IT FIRST!

Apparently its against the rules to get good at any online games because people start complaining about you "hacking". I think I've said this once before. Hacking is NOT cheating.

Let me tell you again.

Hacking is not cheating.

Cheating is cheating.

Most cheaters are script kiddies who do not know the real definition or real amount of work it takes to really hack.

Like online gaming, hacking is a skill. Obviously a different set of skills. If someone is cheating on an online game I usually say, script kiddie, or cheater. Never hacker.

I have to admit, I used to be flattered when someone would call me a cheater because they believe that it was impossible to play that well. I'm beginning to just get offended. That's like someone stripping a hardworker of his job just because you believe that they didn't do anything to get that job. I'm sure there are better examples, but so far, in every game I've played, I've been accused of cheating at least once.

I'm sorry kiddies, but gaming is not a sport.

Go play football if you want to be "Pro".

I'm just going to run my own cod4, fear, halo, and lotd servers. Then anyone who whines about losing will get kicked. I used to run my halo and fear servers like that, anyone who complained would get kicked. I know what a cheater does, I know what to look for. I'm not a newbie.

Lousy Reasons

Yeah, here comes another one.

You know what they tell you about college? It's great, you'll learn a lot, experience a lot. What they don't tell you is how annoying it could be. You'll learn and experience a lot in both good an bad ways. This semester I'm taking one class I have no interest in. I hope that come December I will have a different outlook on the class, then again it was the same thing with the politics course. Not just that, but books. They cost too much. Talk about price gouging, one class was going to set me back a maximum of $235. It's really annoying, as it is we pay upwards of $4000 for a class, at least pack the book with the class. At that the professor was a total nutcase. I use the phrase nutcase rather conservatively, I hate using that word and reserve it for the people who really are nuts (i.e. 90% of the people on abovetopsecret, or the callers on coast2coast am, or the majority of myspace users).

It's pretty annoying really. When you realize you wasted all that money on a name. Well given that private colleges (the majority being religious based) charge double, or even triple the amount of money a decent public college will have. I know that whole bullshit argument "you get what you pay for" but in the education realm, it's not competitive pricing, its just politics. I'm not saying a private college is bad, so keep reading. (What I'm really saying is that you need to make wise choices. You can also waste your money on community colleges so it goes both ways.)

Your education is not a dollar store deal, anywhere you get it from you are paying for the same thing. That same thing is an education. In a step back you'll see that that extra 8000 dollars you may be spending (assuming you are paying triple what a public [non religious] college charges) is really just 8000 for a name on your bachelor's degree. (Keyword is paying, because somepeople actually pay, if not by grants, in which case you are lucky, then by loans, which you are paying, just not right now.) What's the order again? Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D/Doctoral. (More on the money issue later.) Sound like a lot of money? It can be, but that depends on a few things. Do you live on campus? Off campus? Are you from the city or state? I mean, many, many variables come into play. Not to mention your wicked degree plan.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the last two degrees (Masters, Ph.D) are in the realm of what we call graduate school. You have to apply for that separately. The first one, aptly titled an 'Associates' you get at a community college within 2 good years of school. You can also get it at a University if you decided to Minor in a field and you ended up completing your Major and Minor. So you get a Bachelors and an Associates. Sound good?

Let me clarify for a minute. When they say "4 Year University" or "2 Year College" they really mean something like.....4 and 1/2 year University, or 3 year college. This is because usually a major in a university is 120 hours for a bachelors (unless you are a music major where you need 80-90 hours of good schooling and practice, more on that in a bit). You need summer school (not as easily funded by grants or scholarships) to actually finish within 4 years. Massive summer school. Anyone going into college straight out of highschool will learn that their 'college prep' classes really did not prepare them for college. Those classes are good for getting credit hours that may or may not transfer, yeah it's a good idea to take them but do not expect them to actually prepare you for the major event.

If money is an issue, remember there are things you can use to get money. The fafsa being one of them, you can also apply for private grants, scholarships, and a last resort loans (next to paying out of your own pocket, which should always be seen in competition with loans, if not above loans). School does tend to get more expensive as you go higher and higher up the food chain.

[I know my first year was somewhere around the 3,000 mark (maybe
under), with books totally 200 bucks. Then as soon as I became an
upperclassman (junior), I'm around 3500 to 4000 depending on the course
numbers. The tougher courses might have slightly cheaper books, but
they cost a fine load of money.]

Be careful with loans. They can get out of hand. I have many friends and family who are paying huge amounts of money back in loans. You have to know that the job you're getting into is a well paying job and has a good amount of security. You don't want to end up with a 40,000 unsubsidized loan and wind up paying double (maybe less) for the rest of your life. It's a nightmare. If you are unsure, just remember to keep it as low as possible and do as many scholarships as possible. For some people loans are unavoidable, especially if you come from a poor family (like me).

A community college is a good idea if you really feel unprepared or just need a smooth transition, it's basically a high school with less rules. 900-1500 dollars a semester really is not bad, but make sure you know what University you plan on transferring to if you want to get a bachelors. For some people an associates just will not cut it. Some university's are picky about what credit hours they will accept. I know UTSA only accepts certain classes from certain majors, and will drop unnecessary ones, unless you talk with a counselor and say "I really want to get the hell out of here!" [I made the choice to jump into a 5 year university, but I had to take some educational psychology courses to help me transition easier.]

I am not going to sit around and tell you "go to a university that's expensive because it's better or don't go to one, because both are a lie. That's like believing .flac is better than .wav, or glass is better than plastic. Apples to Bananas, they both have their upsides and their downsides. You just have to understand that having a high class college name on your resume will not make too much of a difference. Look at our president. (For the record I'm attending UTSA, hardly a private school by any definition.)

If you are going to a college to escape home, remember it's going to be expensive. Choose wisely. You don't want to go off to college and then regret it because you don't have the cash or the willpower to do it anymore.

I have one big rule for you, it's not the name, it's the presentation. Remember that and you should do fine. Choose wisely, don't go for a name, go for what suits you. Even if a college doesn't have the name but a great degree plan or program just choose it. Just if you choose to go the tech school route (which really isn't a bad idea for computer techs) just remember to make yourself presentable and don't forget to never stop learning new things. Same goes for when you graduate from school (whatever choice you make).

I'm not going to go on and on, if you wanna know anything more feel free to ask me. (Anyone is allowed to comment on my postings.)

I hope one high school kid reads this and gets something out of it.

Remember. (I'm going to paraphrase this one. Correct me if I misquoted.)

The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know anything at all.
Music!

Ok peeps. I finally have my music up on a site for sale!

Seriously it's so great to have my music out there, but I have one problem, I have no idea how this cd is going to look when it's printed. I have it up at lulu.com in both physical and digital format.

The digital format provides me more revenue, so obviously I suggest people buy that. Lulu is so weird on their royalty and payment ways. It's not bad, it's just that they add on a percentage to how much you want off what you sell. It's weird. The base price for a physical cd is 5.50, my royalites are like 4 bucks, and lulu adds a dollar for their royalties. So it sells for around 11.50. My full length gives in digital format me 7 bucks royalties, they add a dollar or two for their own usage.

Naturally I'm pushing the digital download more.

Meh...finally have my music out there, hope it catches on.

I think this is my storefront if you are interested. Here.

Music.

I finally finished my first full length album.
Awesomeness.

The album is titled:

Dictated, but not read...

here is the tracklist.

01 - Iced
02 - Go Drown
03 - Brick Wall
04 - This is a Bore
05 - Say
06 - Away
07 - It's Not
08 - West of Home
09 - I'm Here
10 - Actual
11 - Yours
12 - Dictated, but not read...

I have to finish one minor thing on the cover art and that is the cd art. Like, the picture that will appear on the actual CD itself.

I'm already selling my Iced EP on lulu. It's 5.50 for a download. Pretty good for 7 songs if you ask me.

Anyways, laters all.

No rant today.

I'm going to make this post nice, in the sense that I'll say something other than rant.

Blogs are commonly used for daily musings about life, and here is one of mine.

My wisdom teeth are coming in. I sure as hell don't feel any smarter. More mature really, a little older (I'm 22 now), and when I look back on it, I think the real reason I've been getting so many headaches lately was because of my wisdom teeth. I thought it was the drop in exercise (im back running as much as i used to, as well as eating like i used to the normal 5 times a day shit), or loss of sleep (i am on a good sleep schedule now), or maybe it was just stress (i'm not as stressed as i was before). Nope, I'm 97% sure that they were the result of my wisdom teeth.

Guitar Hero was a game I saw in a negative light before I actually tried it. It's not bad, just...real guitar is easier. It's fun, but you know, really expensive. I'm reading In Cold Blood right now, and no it's not as gay as Capote [chuckle, its a good book actually]. I'm trying to get my thoughts back in order 'cos my voice is getting a workout lately, and my music is sounding fresher. Old songs are sounding better than they did before since I learned a lot of little recording tricks. My computer which had a badass soundcard is now dead. Speaking of computers, I'm sure that I know how to help people with their computers. It's what I do best. That's a good quality about being someone who grew up on a computer, yeah I'm a nerd but hey it's fun. I know a lot of guy fix computers to get with girls and stuff, but meh, I do it for fun. Like guitar, I actually do listen to my own music. Yes I know that sounds weird and prolly wrong, but yes, when I'm done with an album I play it out like any other cd I have. I disconnect myself from my voice cos I don't like the way I sing, but still I listen to it. I critique it, and yes, there are songs of mine that are rated one star on my zen.

I found a copy of this album "Halfway between here and there" by the Rx Bandits (one of my favorite bands) signed! For a dollar!

I'm considering doing electronica lately. It's fun to mess with drumbeats and midi and such. Maybe electronica will get me to put drum tracks in my music. I tend to keep it simple with a guitar and such, and I have new music up on my myspace (clicky the word). You might like it.

I mentioned earlier that I ran. For those of you who don't know. Running for me is a form of meditation, not really exercise. I do it to clear my mind, it's easier to write music or think or just be more productive (or kick ass at videogames! ...greg...thomas...ed....eh...eh....nahh....). It's just, my relaxing alone time. Yes, on occassion I do take an mp3 player, I do that to block out the noise of people around me sometimes, cos it just helps me to be more concentrated on my breathing and such. I suggest finding your own form. [Yes playing guitar and singing is another form for me.]

Yeah, anyways, I have to get back to doing what I was doing, this is scheduled to be posted at 2:00 pm on July 2nd. I like that new future post feature on xanga, it's sweet to use to put your posts on a deadline or a timer, so you don't have to worry about being online when a post gets released.

Another phrase that makes me cringe.

You know, I've heard this phrase numerous times, I've been told it, I've seen it as the title of a song. It's normally used when people want you to listen to them even when they are wrong. It is the cliffs notes version of "I'm a dick, so you better hear me out."

You know what phrase this is? It's used even more in political discussions of NWO and bullshit like that. Who ever said an NWO is a bad thing? Who ever said that we're not already in a world like that? For fucks sake people, don't use this phrase around me ever (again).

The two word phrase/Rage Against the Machine song: Wake Up.

For fucks sake, I'm awake. (hey that rhymed)

Shit man, my two eyes are open, and I'm looking at you. Am I not awake? You that pretentious to imply that I'm not paying attention?

You are dense. Apparently, it never crossed your mind, that I am listening, and I am awake. I just do not give two shits about the words that are coming out of your mouth (or keyboard, or pen, or whatever the fuck kind of communication you are using). Never use that phrase again, asshole. I swear that if I hear that again, I will soar through the air, and send my dog to pull out your vocal cords.

Ok, maybe not, but still. Shut the fuck up.

Listen.

One of the most disturbing things about people is the inability to listen. You know someone does not listen to anything when they ask you a question, and simply ignore your answer. Even worse, when someone asks you for advice and they never take anything you said into consideration, but instead dump everything into a mental filing cabinet labeled "Selfish Advice from a Selfish Person". I'm not saying any one person has done this to me. Nor am I implying that I am all knowing. I'm simply stating the obvious. Although people may not actually label that cabinet as "Selfish advice", they may label is "Dumb advice" or "Bad" or "Wrong" or "Not what I want to hear". Ninety plus percent of the time I believe its the final label which gets used up.

I say this, because, I an currently as a loss of emotion for the amount of time, people have asked me for advice, and it has been ineptly ignored. How awesome is that? For someone to ask you your opinion, and say: "...nevermind", halfway through the response? I know, it's beautiful. I love society [insert sarcastic inflection with the appropriate scoff here]. [Insert, lame emo heart here <3].

Seriously, it's amazing. People do not like to be told the truth, because sometimes it is painful. I'm getting tired of people not realizing that they are not always 100% right. There is no such thing as perfect (more on that word later), and that you can never one-up anyone without seeming like a jerk. I live by this motto, as inappropriate as it may seem.

Don't be dense, shut the fuck up.

Does that seem beautifully simple to you? If it does not, then you should go outside, find yourself a library, and walk to the philosophy section, or the psychology section, and start reading up on how you should think. Because I will tell you one thing. You will never, ever be right. Even something in this article I am saying can be refuted, but this is not a two way discussion, this is a statement. You can refute it to yourself all you want, but please, for the sake of mankind, just listen. There is no one answer to everything. Unless you are Hitler, you should know this.

Speaking of the right answer, the word perfect should be taken into context a bit more lightly. Whenever I have heard someone use (or hell, whenever I've used it) the word "perfect", I've heard someone say "perfect is purely a point of view" or "there is no such thing as perfect". Sit back and read those two statements, and tell me why you just said anything. Can you answer it to yourself? Can you figure out why someone would say something like that?

I'll give you the short answer, which I've observed. People love to be right. Let me break that down. A person will have a severely positive reaction to the notion that their ego is being fed positively by saying what they perceive as the right answer. You can argue that I myself am doing just that. However, I do not care if anyone thinks I am right or wrong. Seriously. I have already stated that two paragraphs above.

I understand that whole thing of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and whatnot, I even understand how it has been used out of context numerous times. The hard part is getting people to understand, that saying something is "perfect" is just what it is: an opinion. So once more, don't be dense.

Listen to what you say before you say it. Run it over in your head, because if it sounds wrong to you, it probably will not sound right coming out in a full sentence.

I'm getting tired of people always being in competition with each other. I have that belief that the people of the world will not become a properly unified group of people, under a true democracy (not our horribly torn apart united states idea of a democracy) will not be achieved until some major world wide catastrophe comes upon us. It may sound absurd, but an alien invasion or a meteor striking the earth may just be a very real slap across our faces to actually get us to attempt to help each other.

Yes, I know that may sound crazy or insane, but you have to put it into perspective and philosophize on the subject.

The answer I have for my own personal advice is simple since I know for a fact I do not ask for advice because I know, that no book or person could possibly give me the advice I need. In that, most of the times I have had trouble, I have had to look into my own experience and emotions for advice.

Just food for thought, and remember to just listen.

Don't be dense, shut the fuck up.

Listen, and the phrase "Don't be dense, shut the fuck up." by Jacob Steven Limon is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
Questions

Where did (do) you get your information?

This question is the epitome of asshole. Seriously, are you that fucking dense as for me to not realize that you are actually saying: "Are you stupid?" See that's the problem with language, people do not know how to interpret it. When people ask that question, I immediately stop talking to them. That's just so cocky. It's a proverbial kick in the nuts to imply that you are an idiot, in any way shape or form.

I recently read this article about a guy who openly admitted he loves cars. (Let me give you a minute to reread that sentence.) Ok, now think about that for a while. Would you believe me if I told you he has sex with cars? Well, he does. This guy is fucking insane. If anyone is that fucked up or left alone, to where he loves an inanimate object...wait...

Ok, I'm not going to vote this year. Why? Because all the canditates are jokes. There's no point in voting for the same guy if it really doesn't matter which one wins.

More ranting later....

Last.fm

I have a last fm page up for my music.

http://www.last.fm/music/Jacob+Steven+Limon

my myspace is still

www.myspace.com/jacobstevenlimon

I'm currently working on four new songs.

I probably will not put all four up, until after I'm done with my next album. I have the cover artwork already complete, I'm still working on the reverse side. Lulu seems a fitting place to market the album, and (just like the iced ep) I will give 5 people an advance copy which will serve as the basis on how I will order the tracks, and so on...

I'm looking around, and my dead line is somewhere by the end of next month if not July, I will be hard at work on this album and my xanga rants will be far, and between (if I have any).

Happy listening!

(fre)eBay

eBay has changed it's policies once again. Aside from pushing up the cost of postings, they have made one rather crucial change to the feedback system. A change so big, it's bigger than Jared Leto's ego. (and that is huge.)

eBay is currently allowing only positive feedbacks to be given by Sellers, while Positive or Negative by Buyers. To put this clearly. Sellers can receive either positive or negative feedbacks with neutrals also meaning negative. Neutral is supposed to have a value of 0, positive +1, and negative -1. This is, after all my understanding of the Likert scale. It now is... positive +1, neutral -1, negative -1. So...neutral is also negative now?

At that buyers can have only positive ratings now. (100% everyone?)

This is heavily skewed, and unreasonable. Now if I sell something, the buyer can say "it's not what I want, and I want a refunt". You being a seller, you will have to give them back the money (via PayPal if you use it, which is instantaneous), and the seller can keep the item and you will only be able to give them positive feedback and file a complaint later. This complaint will never be looked at by eBay. I should know, eBay does not give a shit about it's sellers. They just proved it.

This is a seriously skewed and retarded system. I was about to seriously start selling things on eBay, now that this system is in place, I don't think I will. I canceled my PayPal to prevent any fraud, since PayPal is as secure as a high school here in Texas. Which is to say, it's as secure as sex with a 10 dollar prostitute. You're sure to get fucked not once, but twice when the disease hits.

I sure as hell will not bother with eBay anymore, and I think no one else should. Fuck a boycott, just forget it exists. I've been watching the stock go down, and man...it sure is a shame.

Apparently eBay doesn't want the seller to "hold the feedback hostage". What the fuck? They forgot that the seller is the real customer, that is who eBay makes the real money from. The seller has to pay to put the items on eBay, and the seller is the one the buyer buys from (sometimes, the payment doesn't go so well and that is why sellers need to be able to rate the buyer as well).

Last I checked, a store can tell you that you suck. Albeit not as explicitly, but shit man, I should be able to leave a negative for a buyer who does not pay. I've seen scammers pop up on ebay, and I don't want that shit to come to me.

eBay, has now become freeBay for buyers.

I'm done for today.

I apologize for this unfunny, unentertaining, and very....very pissed off rant.

Fuck off eBay, horse ejaculate is too good for you.
