Never EnoughIs it just me or has anyone else noticed a ton of new variations of classic types of candy having come out in the past few years? How many kinds of M&M's are out there now? Anyway, I was contemplating these questions as I searched for a mid-night snack last night at the Circle K across the street. And, I think it is my duty, as a chocolate lover, to explore all of the new and exciting kinds of candy that have been released in recent years. Last night I finally decided to try out the new Reese's Whipped candy bar. Reese's peanut butter cups are definitely a classic candy, although I usually can't eat more than one without my stomach starting to churn and feel "off". So, I thought the "lighter" version might suit me better. In my opinion, what makes peanut butter cups so awesome is the subtle texture of the peanut butter, and the combination of the chocolate pointy circumference of the cup. Unfortunately the "whipped" version had neither. In fact, it was just like sugary densely packed chalk. Blech. Therefore, I must give it a thumbs-down. Stick with the original. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any suggestions for next week's review? Possible candidates include: chocolate skittles, pb twix, butterfinger wafer thingy. I will also try to incorporate beer pairings in future posts. |
