  • Engaged?

is it just me, or does this music player not work?

Keith Urban - I Wanna Love Somebody Like You

i love country!  (i love it in a very novice way...i am by no means a country professional)

so, Simon's roommate got engaged recently. my roommate got engaged yesterday. Simon and I should room together so one of us can get engaged.

why's it so cold here today?! so friggin cold!!!

my life's been pretty much the same. taking 5 coures this semester. doing praise team. loving my tufts small group. trying to create stuff with my guitar. maybe it's time to stir up some change...

for lent i'm fasting from meat. i'm doing the vegetarian diet, no meat, but seafood is okay.  i've never really observed lent, and this is my first time seriously doing it. it's tough. especially considering the anti-delicious vegetarian options we get at school sometimes...

Jesus is the man. God is cool.

"We Are The Reason" - Avalon

    back home!

so i'm back in seattle! er...lacey...er federal way...er whatever.  it's good to be home...but i must say, that there has been a growing attachment to boston...and the notion of where "home" is has slightly blurred.  i'll be here 'til january 16th, and then it's off to boston again..

while i'm here, of course i'll be kickin it...but i also have some reading that i want to get a head start on for next semester...and maybe some time for the gym? the gun show hasn't been very impressive as of late...

    looking back...

this was a great semester :)  i had more classes than last year.  i had more church responsibilities than last year.  i had many more fantasy teams than last year.  yet, i got all my reading done. i'm expecting around a 3.5.  i'm whooping people in fantasy football (basketball is another story...one that we shall not talk about).  and i think i can say that i love God more now than i did when the year started.  yup...busier than ever, and still time to whoop in fantasy...how do i do it? glory to God :)

    looking at Christmas...

christmas time!!! yayayaya!!!!!  i love christmas :)  why? well, lemme take you for a spin...i'll try to take you through the thoughts in my head....

[suggestion: slow down to read this]
God...just the thought of God is pretty crazy isn't it?  This entity that is bigger than anything we could ever imagine.  He isn't bound by time; he isn't bound by space.  He holds the world in his hands.  In fact, he created time itself...he created the world.  If we try to imagine what God looks like, we don't even really know what to imagine.  When i try to imagine God, all i really imagine is an incredibly bright light...i really don't know how to picture God.  He's just God...the infinite God.  now...take that same God, and put him in a box...umm, okay, there is no box big enough...but let's say, you have a little box and somehow that infinite God was held in that box...actually, instead of a box, let's imagine a baby...somehow, that infinite God is now confined to a baby...a crying, helpless baby...wow.  the God that holds the world, now fits in my arms...what would it be like to hold God in my arms?  what would it be like to look into the eyes of baby Jesus, and be staring straight into the eyes of God?  God on earth...it's an amazing thought isn't it? God on earth....God on earth....

  • Hello!

    aww...poor kid...

Now Playing: "In Your Freedom"  Marty Sampson, Raymond Badham - Hillsong: Savior King

i love this song...but lemme ask you a question...what does it mean to say "in your freedom i will live"?  i mean, it's a pretty common sounding phrase, according to Galations 5, it for freedom that we've been set free...but practically speaking, what does it mean to live in God's freedom???

so the road trip ended a couple weeks ago, and i am now back in school doing the school thing.  i'm taking a five class load, and so it's gonna be lots and lots of work. 3 classes is average, 4 is a little more, and 5 is where i'm at.  so far however, i like my classes, and it's good to be back and doing the study thing. hopefully this isn't more than i can handle...God be my strength.

here's just one picture from our road trip. this one in planet hollywood in new york :)

for more you can check out nathan's page. www.xanga.com/bbhnatedawg08

so after only 2.5 months...my car has racked up 11500 miles...oyi...

my answer to my question: "what does it mean to live in God's freedom?"

it is simply this: to live a life that glorifies God.  we either live in freedom, or we live in slavery.  without jesus, there is only slavery to our sinful nature, but once we have been crucified with Christ, we are free from our sinful nature and can live in freedom.  we can escape the sick cycle carousel.  instead of being trapped in a world where we chase things that will never satisfy, we can begin to chase the one thing that truly does fulfill.  we can begin to chase God, live the way that God calls us to live and then truly live in God's freedom...i'd try to elaborate, but long paragraphs scare some people away.

put another way...to live in slavery is to live chasing the things that enslave you...but to live in freedom is to live chasings the that free you...and only God sets you free...

  • status report

    update!*******************************************************************

    current status:

pastor peter's place in virginia. seattle time: 9:40. here time: 12:40. here time now = boston time.

so...we changed our plans a few days ago, but as we were going, we changed them again. we didn't go to six flags, and we didn't stop by st louis. instead, we drove straight through st louis and spent the next day at kings dominion. compared to some parks, kings dominion may not be the biggest, but its the best i've been to in a long time, and it was nice going there again after ten years. and they added some new rides! some really really fast cool ones! ones that flash a green light, and launch you screaming from the get go, once you run out of air to scream you inhale once and start screaming again, by the time you're out of air the second time from your prolonged scream, the ride is done. the hypersonic. fun! i bought a video clip of us riding the volcano too. nathan has quite the entertaining face. you will soon enough see this on youtube =)

it was good seeing old faces in virginia. we even went and drove around to my old neighborhood that i lived in 10 years ago!! it was weird. and somehow, it seems like our old house got smaller. i guess everything just seems bigger when you're younger. tomorrow we go to pastor sam's and he's going to fire up the grill for us and get some ribeyes on there...nice!!!!

then we head up to philly for a day, then new york for a day, and then boston....the road trip is coming to an end soon...but so far, so good....

random thought. every once in a while, someone finds you on facebook that you haven't talked to in a long time and you can talk again. pretty cool.

    conversation i had today:

sora: so what school do you go to?
    me: gordon conwell
    sora: what?
    me: gordon conwell
    sora: what?
    me: gordon conwell
    sora: what??
    me: gooorrrdddoooooonnnn ccooonnnwwweeelllllll
    sora: gordon combo?

    another conversation:

ji: yea, i hear it's different out west
me: it is pretty different. when i first moved out west, i thought the schools were so easy...
    ji: the squirrels??
me: o.O ...yes...the squirrels were so easy...

    another conversation:

ji: [[laugh, laugh, giggle, restraint, giggle, cover mouth, laugh]]
me: ...why were you laughing just now?
    ji: because, wait what??
    me: ?? o.O what??
ji: how did you know my name???
    me: huh?
ji: my american name...how did you know it??
    me: o.O eng??
*explanation* somehow, "just now" was heard as "jessica"...hahah

other info: we went bowling today. i bowled a 159 the first game...and a 110 the second game...oyi.

    ***************************************************************************

    current status:

super 8 motel. seattle time: 2:02am. here time: 3:02am. boston time: 5:02am.

    completed:

las vegas. came up $18! wahoo!!!
    hoover dam
    grand canyon

    summary report:

so yea, vegas was fun...lots of things to see and a lot more things to play.  vegas in the daytime is cool, but at nighttime it's a lot cooler.  good food, good company (although, a girlfriend to take pictures with would have been nice) good times.

and right now we're in new mexico. the original plan was to head out to virginia beach and then kings dominion...but the weather report is not looking good. straight thunderstorming out there! what we supposed to do at a beach in the midst of thunderstorms?!?! so we changed the plans. head towards missouri, checkout st. louis, play at six flags in kentucky, then go to nova and pickup the original road trip plans from there.  we're driving about 1000 miles on drive days.....butt is getting quite a workout.

  • something happened...

Now Playing: "All Because of Jesus" - Steve Fee

ok...so i haven't updated in quite a while, and i wanted to get a few pictures before updating again...but something happened that got me really excited and forced me to write something...I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND! psyche! hahah...suckaz.  kg got traded to boston! i didn't go to any celtics game last year when i was in boston, and i was already excited to go back to school and catch a game with ray allen now being there. ray allen and paul pierce would have been fun to watch...and now kg too?! nice!!!

okay...since i'm updating, i might as well give some updates on my summer. it's been fun. leading worship at dmc youth retreat was fun...met some cool canadians and learned to play bunny bunny. sweet! second trip to canada for the weekend was fun too. not exciting, just chill, relaxing, and fun. and caleb is pretty much the cutest baby i've ever interacted with. but you wouldn't know his full cuteness from a picture, cuz his cuteness stems from his personality. and this past weekend i just spoke for the youth at the kac retreat...which was a lot of fun too. good group of kids. and not this sunday, but next sunday i'll be flying out to north carolina to speak for pastor mun's youth group. looking forward to that as well. and soon after i get back from that, it's time to start driving back out east.  road trip this time goes like this. washington --> las vegas --> virginia beach --> king's dominion --> new york --> boston. total trip length: 10 days. same road trip group as last time: brother and nathan.  of course, there's a collage of birthdays scattered throughout the summer (bottom heavy), and this and that hanging out, conversations about church and about people, and little things like biting seattle...but that about sums up my summer. it's been fun :)

question to ponder: your actions speak louder than words. when God looks at your life, what do your actions tell him? do your actions say "i love you God"? or do they say something else???
