EMPOWER YOUR SPIRITUALITY 100%
by Neh-wu-yeh
The elements (as in the Elements) are seldom understood as they relate to spirituality. They are not there as mere symbols of power, but as PATHS of power. Most people involved in neo-paganism, the New Age movement, shamanism and Wicca simply don’t understand the Elements outside of them being symbols of power. The mage uses them as symbols or incarnations/archetypes and/or spirits when he/she invokes the spirits of the directions and elements. However, there are Paths to each Element...and walking down each Path will empower whatever spiritual endeavors or disciplines you currently find yourself in.
To put it simply, quickly and bluntly:
Earth represents solidity and grounded nature. It represents strength and gives the Seeker power to withstand and lift the weight he/she is given to sustain. Quite simply, the Element of Earth gives the Seeker (Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, neo-pagan, New Ager, shaman, witch, etc.) stability. As a Path of Power, the Element of Earth is ritual. Many, if not most, neo-pagans and New Agers thrive on one or some of the other Elemental Paths, but ritual is seldom one of them. Ritual brings stability to the Seeker in times of turmoil and strife and war and famine. Spiritual famine, spiritual war, physical difficulties of the same: it is daily ritual that empowers and stabilizes the Seeker. The Path of Earth is ritual.
The Seeker needs to ritualize whatever spiritual path he/she has chosen and to ritualize it daily. If the Seeker has an altar, the altar needs to be utilized daily. If the Seeker creates Circles, then the Circle must be drawn daily. If not in group then singularly.
The next Path of Power is Water. Water is purification and it comes at the end of ritual. At the end of walking the Path of Earth you need to continue along the Path of Water. Another words, to put it simply so all understand, after ritual you need purification. Because before you get to the next Elemental Path, you must be purged or you will regret it.
Purification may require ceremonial bathing and can even involve dousing a few drops of water upon yourself. It may require praying certain prayers or invoking the power of the Goddess Diana or a particular colored light such as golden or white light. This purification is not only beneficial but necessary before walking the Path of Air.
The Path of Air is the Path of Journeying. It is the Path most Seekers belonging to world religions leave out. It is the art of using imagination to go to "other realms", to astral travel and/or use imagination to enter the Dreaming or the world of thought. The reason the Path of Purification is so important is because when you come to the Path of Journeying you may meet up with negative entities that may wish to rob you of energy or possess you. Harboring anger, resentment and/or other negative emotions will draw these dark denizens to you. Negative emotions have a lower vibratory frequency and will possibly summon/invoke/call those spirits of the other realms to you—for like calls to like.
However you chose to walk the Path of Journeying is up to you. If certain steps are not taught in your world religion or spiritual path, then you need to find one. Becoming the most powerfully spiritual person in your faith is nothing if you cannot walk the Path of Journeying, because there is more to life than physical reality and there is more than one dimension to carry your power and love to.
Next is the Element of Fire. Fire is chaos. Sometimes controlled and sometimes uncontrolled as in forest fires. Chaos or entropy is necessary to break things down and destroy them. We die daily, we are destroyed daily, and in order to become the spiritual person we want to be when we grow up we must walk the Path of Destruction. We must learn to destroy those things within ourselves that threaten to rob us of our spiritual power. And we must destroy those things we meet in life that threaten to rob us of our spiritual power. This is the power of the prophet who uses the curse. The curse falls under the Path of Destruction.
There are two Paths (believe it or not) to the Path of Fire. One is the Path of the Healer and one is the Path of the Warrior. The Path of Fire is walked only after the Path or Ritual, the Path of Purification, the Path of Journeying. Now, outside of your physical body, you will need to either walk the Path of Healer or the Path of Warrior.
The Path of Healer means using the fire to purge, cleanse or heal yourself on deeper levels. It also means purging, healing and cleansing others. Most people report warmth flowing through them when a healer lays hands upon them in order to heal them. This is the Path of Destruction, for not only do healers impart energy to build but they also impart energy to destroy. Viruses and cancerous cells need to be destroyed. Remember, it is easier to destroy than build. See how long it takes to plant a corn field and wait for the harvest! See how that cornfield can be destroyed in one day by weather or fire! That is why some erroneously go to the dark side and use black magick. They discover results and effects are more quickly obtained by the act of destroying rather than building and growing. The act of murder takes only minutes or seconds, but the act of growing takes years. So the Path of Fire (as related to the healer) involves destruction of germs, negative emotions, diseases, etc. The Healer will use the Path of Destruction while healing him or herself as well as others. As such, the Path of Healer isn’t that far off from the Path of Warrior.
The Path of Warrior means using the fire to destroy one’s enemies. The enemies may be the Warrior’s or it may be someone else’s enemies just as the Healer may heal him/herself or another person. Oftentimes the Warrior has a flaming sword when he/she Journeys and battles astral denizens. Other times the Warrior has no flaming sword or any weapon whatsoever. Some Warriors use words of power such as holy names or prayers. Other times they use weapons or musical instruments even. Yet whatever their instrument of choice, they actually do battle denizens of the other realms. Before they go into battle they must purify themselves, of course, so that they are not beguiled in any way by negative energies and/or denizens of the other realms.
These are the four Elements, but often there is a neglected fifth Element: Void. Walking the Path of Void means walking the Path of Stillness. "The Way is always still!" Lao Tzu There is a Void within everything and for that we should be thankful. There is Void within the rocks and trees and animals and even your pets. This Void is an emptiness for Spirit. Whatever god you pray to will fill the Void within you. Yet getting still through meditation brings us to our Void. If nothing is there then we come face to face with the Void or nothingness within us. If something is inside us—be it a demon or benevolent spirit—we will come face to face with that particular spirit. There are spirits within the trees surrounding where you live; within the rocks and landscapes; within electricity that flows through your house; within the sunshine and even within the blades of grass. Wherever there is Void there is the possibility for spirits to exist. Since Void exists everywhere and in everyplace and in every person, spirits can exist everywhere and in everyplace and in every person. The source of power behind your paradigm, religion, beliefs or sect/cult will determine what spirit inhabits you. Also, it isn’t uncommon for spirits to manifest with the Void of a particular person or thing at various times. Even the Bible mentions when believers were full of the Spirit meaning there were times when they were not full of the Spirit.
So meditation and/or contemplation brings you to the Path of Stillness. The manner in which you meditate/contemplate may be different from your best friend’s meditation. You may, as I do, chose Transcendental Meditation. Or you may chose to study in depth Scriptures, meditate upon joy or love, use Oprah Winfrey’s method of contemplating all the blessings in your life. Whatever method you chose, it will bring you to the Void within...and if you are empty then you will know it. You may ask a spirit to fill you up if you desire. Jesus will come to you. The spirit of Buddha can manifest within you. Mother Mary or the Goddess. Whatever spirit you ask will come and live within the Void of your heart and soul and esoteric body. Or you can remain empty, but that is fruitless since humans are created to be vessels of some type of spirit.
These five Elements are not conclusive, but I will pause here to bring to you the light of the Pentagram. Each of the five points of the Pentagram represents one of these five Elements, thus also reflecting the Path of Power of each Element.
There is, however, a greater symbol than the Pentagram and that is the Hexagram. Six points. What is the sixth point? What does it represent?
Six numerically represents humanity, and thus the sixth Elements is Humanity. After having walked the Five Paths of Elemental Power it is time to walk the sixth Path of Elemental Power: the Path of Connecting. The Connecting I am referring to has nothing to do with making friends; it has to do with real spiritual connections to other members of the human race. Humans are an Element as real as any other Element, and spirits know and understand this. That is why demons attempt to possess people; they need the sixth Element (humans) to work magick. The magick and spiritual power of any one person is magnified equally by the number of people he/she effects with his beliefs. Gather a group of people who have the same ritual, the same purification ceremonies, the same method of journeying, the same methods of destruction (whether for healing or battle), the same spirit within their Voids, and you will find a group of like-minded people capable of moving mountains. Their understanding will be far superior than other groups who, perhaps, do not Journey or do not practice the art of destruction (whether for healing purposes or spiritual warfare).
Summary
In conclusion, you will increase your spiritual prowess and spirituality 100% if you develop and maintain/hold onto ritual; develop purification ceremony or adapt one that already exists; practice Journeying to other realms to meet spiritual creatures; fight spiritual denizens or heal spiritual denizens (including but not limited to human spirits of those surrounding us); practicing stillness that leads to our souls and the god within; and then connecting to others with like-faith.
This Connection isn’t something that can be done consciously, by the way. It cannot be done by you. You don’t determine who you will fall in love with or befriend; it just happens on levels as deep as the soul. When those connections fall away (which sometimes they do) there is nothing that can be done. Soul or Astral Connections are created by beings from the other realms and we have little to do with them. But by remaining cognizant to where Spirit is leading us, whatever Spirit we chose to follow, worship and invite to live within us—we can understand and feel those astral Connections binding us to those to whom we will empower by our spirituality. And these selfsame people will empower us with their spirituality. Thus their spiritual power is transmuted and grows like the planting of seeds within us through the Path of Connecting and vice-versa. It’s a two-way street with the Path of Connecting, and what comes around goes around. You get what you put out. What you plant you will reap.
I hope this will help you on your spiritual climb up the mountainside.
