End of spring 07

Does anyone read this thing anymore? *announces a roll call and waits for the answers*

So here we are,... last day of the spring 07 semester, a week before graduation. Well, technically, 8 days before grad. Which reminds me... I want Banchis... *emails the parents to mail her some*

A lot has happened... and it's kinda weird that four years here at APU have flown by. What comes next... I ahve no idea... but I guess I better find out soon...

Highlights of the year, semester so far (a few out of the many)...

Luau 07
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=apu+luau&search=Search
See if you can spot me. I'm in virtually all the girl songs... >.>
Luau was a blast and it was hectic and fun and busy busy busy and we all ended up with leftover shredded pork and chicken to last us week. Good thing it's heavily salted... it helps preserve it longer... right? Yeah... of course.

These are just the girl dancers... there's a whole heck of a lot more when you throw in the guy dancers and all the people who helped out as well. Crazy!

Canyon Hopping!
http://apu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2029301&l=f4468&id=56901118
Yes, I facebook as well... kinda.
But during Easter break, my uncle, aunt and cousins rode down and we went canyon hopping, hitting the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon. You might think... "That's a whole heck of a lot of rock,.." but when each one is so unique and different... Oh, it was beautiful and marvelous.

This past semester has also been one with more spiritual growth than one can shake a stick at. And while that sounds all fine and dandy... it also means falling flat on your face and wallowing in the depression and pity before God shakes you out of it and says, "Get up! You're made of stronger stuff than that." So for all the tribulations and trials and brokenness,... thanks. Because how else is one supposed to have a personal relationship with God when your own ideals/thoughts/rules are in the way?

Finals week is coming up and then comes Graduation. After that, who knows where I'll be. whether I'll be staying down in southern California or moving to the Bay area, it's all in His hands, is it not? Of course it is. It's a walk that takes you one step at a time. It's a struggle that you face day by day, person by person.

For those of you who I haven't talked to in a long time or who I've lost touch with... a huge hello to all of you. Thanks for reading.

 Mood:

Thanksgiving was a blast. Mochi and I made Thanksgiving dinner. That includes our turkey, Fredorick, mashed potatoes (we never make enough... it's always the first thing that gets eaten up), candied sweet potatoes (the toasted marshmallows on top remind me of smores... yum), the stuffing (we stuffed the turkey and voila we emerged victorious with non microbially infested bread and herbs and stuff), the gravy (none of the powdered stuff, we made it from turkey drippings) and green beans (no remark about them except I told Mochi that fresh green beans are a whole heck of a lot better than canned ones.... xD)

Got back to the apartment at around 1:30am and then stayed up all night cleaning up the apartment and packing before leaving to catch the bus at 5:30am to go visit a friend. I swear, everytime you go on a Greyhound bus, you end up with an adventure.

1.- On my way down I met these two guys who were getting off at the same stop I was. Which was good cause they made sure I didn't transfer bus at the wrong station. Would you know it, they were also no the same bus I was on Sunday afternoon? I mean, what are the chances of that?

2.- On the way down, we were stopped for about an hour between Indio and El Centro due to a traffic accident. It was most (un)amusing to sit in the bus and stare outside at the other non moving vehicles. After all, misery loves company.

3.- On the way up, I was scheduled to take the bus which left at 1pm. It comes and the driver tells me there is no more space on it and that I should take the next bus. Well, the next bus to El Monte didn't leave until next morning, but a bus leaving for LA would come at 3pm and told me to come back then. >.< So I come back... and when the bus comes around, they tell me once again that it's full and I'll have to take the next bus... at which I most vehemently and in my fastest and angriest Spanish I said I needed to get on that bus as it was the second time I would be delayed. So I got on. yaaay. n_n Of course, I had to stand for about 2 hours with this other girl who also had to get on it, but hey, at least I was on.

4.- That overbooking incident happened again at the next stop. After finally finding a seat, the driver had the same issue with too many people to fit on the bus. So once again, we had a few standing in the aisles.

5.- We were stopped by a border patrol car that demanded to see our IDs. I was this close to not bringing my passport and all that as I wasn't even leaving the States... but good thing I did. n_n

6.- Ran across a random Asian guy on the bus who was also getting off at LA and we talked in Cantonese for about two hours. It was quite interesting. According to him, he was a chef from Singapore who had cooked in Israel, France, Italy and other places. It was good practicing with a perfect stranger I guess. And then I hailed a cab for him at the LA station to take him to LAX. Which cost him $45.... from downtown LA to LAX... wth...

So needless to say, it was a good trip, although a bit long on the bus part. In the end it all worked out fine, for which I'm glad. Foggy Azusa at 5:30am looks very weird.

tengo haaaambre....

 Mood:

I just gave my persuasive speech in my public comm class, and I must say, it didn't go as bad as I thought it would. Considering I was told on Tuesday that I would be presenting on Thursday (today) I would say it went pretty darn well.

Did you know there are 10 teaspoons of sugar in a 12 oz can of coke? Go ahead and measure it out for yourself so you can see how much granulated white refined sugar. That was pretty trippy. Note to self... never ever drink coke again. Well, not that bad, but I'm still staying away from it.

In other news.... eh... nothing much. I have my second draft of my molec lab write up due as well as studying for another molec test for this monday. And write an annotated bibliography for my Shakespeare class. I think it's annotated. After all, I skipped class today. Oh well. I'll deal.

I'm excited for Thanksgiving. Depending on what happens, Thanksgiving will either make me or break me.

I'm downloading Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. It's the live-action version of Sailor Moon and it reminds me so much of old school Power Rangers so much it makes me happy. Aaah, good times.

That's about it for now. Until next time,... cheerio.

Mood:

While procrastinating on my Hamlet paper... I was overcome with a curious urge to find out which Hamlet production we watched so long ago in AP Lang. (Or was it Lit? I forgot already)

I remembered the modern setting, Ophelia dead in the fountain and the ghost vanishing into a Pepsi machine.

Armed with these few details, I decided to hit up Amazon and look through their Hamlet movie selections.

And I have found it. Surprisingly enough, this film adaptation was also talked about in our Shakespeare text, which makes me infinitely happy, cause how cool is it when a ghost walks into a pepsi machine?

In case any of you are curious as to which adaptation it is...

Directed by Michael Almereyda starring Kyle MacLachlan, Diane Venora and Ethan Hawke.

No, I have no idea who these people are. But it's nice to finally be able to know which version it was. And now that I have finally found this vital piece of information, I can rest in peace knowing that I now know what we were watching back in high school.

Currently Listening
Silk Road 1
By Kitaro
see related

 Moods:

I have found it! Finally, after years of wondering, I finally found that artist that I listened to when I was small. Weirdly enough I found it while looking for anime stuff. If you are wondering, it's Kitaro. It's a relaxing/calming/soothing New Age sound with traditional Asian instruments and melodies. Found out I really like New Age. Oh well.

Stayed up late working on a paper, thinking it was a long paper (it was an analysis of a film production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night) and when I turned it in, I found out it was only two paragraphs. *headdesk* However, in the process of writing my paper, I have found out that I really like drinking Jasmine green tea and stir it with chocolate pocky sticks. And pudding milk tea. Funny how one learns little things like that. But I still don't like eating pudding by itself... Oo

I have found the perfect topic for my informative speech in Public Comm. It will be about Dicrocoelium dentriticum. It's definative host is the sheep. Being a trematode, it has two intermediate hosts, one being a mollusc. The other one is a sheep and here is where the most interesting part of this parasite lies. Ants will ingest the cercaria that is left behind by the snail. The cercaria will then develop into a metacercaria, some of which will travel to the subesophageal ganglion and cause a behavioral change in the ant. During cooler temperatures, such as dusk, the ant will climb up to the top of the grass and hang there all night by its mandibles until the day warms up again. Why does it do this? Because that's when sheep graze, therefore increasing the chances of the parasite getting into its definative host, the sheep.

Amazing isn't it?

I think that's about it for now. And I really like Hainan chicken rice. Oh... so good. Must find a closer place than Savoy's.

And I really want a Galak.

Dark chocolate, whiteCan I give you a Galak?I haven't thought of thoseIn years. (But they were goodRice crispy crunchy yummygoodness gracious!Has it really beenone month and six daysplus two weeksplus two weekstimes two, I can't believeHow much I....and you.
