2 more days of summer school!!! YESSSSSSS!!! Then i'm home for a rocking 15 hours before I head down to north carolina with the fam. saweeeeeeeet!!! I've actually been looking forward to this for a verrrrrrrrry long time seeing as it has been F-O-R-E-V-E-R since I've spent some qt with the whole fam. wahooooooo!! Thats all for now:)

sooooo...hajnal asked for a "i'm back in the united states" post. here it is. i like the united states, i like chipotle, i love my fam., i like understanding everything thats going on around me, i like watching american tv, i like old navy, i like american pillows, i like american food, i love my pets, i love my friends, i like finally feeling comfortable and relaxed, i like sharing stories from france and feeling like i lived in a dream land for a year, i like wireless internet, i like facebook, i like xanga, i like the us dollar, i like driving cars, i like listening to the radio and singing my head off when i'm driving alone in my car, i like backyards, i like fresh cut grass, i like doing my laundry, i like sitting in my pjs till noon, i like wearing sweat pants for days on end, i like the challenge of living at home, i like not being looked at like i'm a dumb american, i like talking on my cell phone, i like not having to use an adaptor to plug things in, i like taking long showers, i like drinking dr. pepper, i like not feeling awkward, i like babysitting, i like and miss camp, i like the united states.

now, don't get me wrong, i miss france a lot, but there was nothing more that i could possibly have gotten out of that experience. I learned a lot about myself and how to communicate with others. i learned what its like to be an outsider and not always fit in. and i do feel a little pang in my heart every time i look at a picture or talk about france because its an experience that is very near and dear to my heart and as much as i love talking about it, there are only 46 other people on the face of the earth who know exactly what my year was like. even though i was not necessarily friends with all those people, they were there with me through all the riots, strikes, protests, funny looks, mean frenchies, and random moments with dickinson.

i think the scariest part of being back is the fact that i have one year left of school and nothing planned afterward. my dad, mom and i had "the talk" the other day about what i'm going to do with my life. there is nothing really aside from teaching that the french major can do for me, so i think i'm just going to hold that part of me in my heart for a rainy day when i've saved up enough money and can go back for a bit. as of now, the plan that my dad and i came up with is college admissions. i did an internship last year in the admissions office and absolutely loved it. yes it was stressful and it had its down points..ahem..april...i loved the high schoolers that we worked with and i loved the feeling of representing dickinson. now the challenge is finding a job. i'm not really thrilled about that part, but hopefully things will fall into place and i'll have enough experience to make colleges give me a second look. hopefully being the key word...

for now, i'm sitting in columbus for a week on my brothers couch with nothing to do but visit with suzy and amanda, go shopping and blow all the money that i made babysitting the past 2 weeks, walk the dog, drink coffee, watch tv and eat chipotle. sounds like fun but is actually surprisingly boring...its been about 12 hours since my bro left and i'm already bored and lonely(hence the super super long post)...saweeeeeeeet.

ok, so i kinda suck and kinda forgot about xanga there for a while...woops. but i'm back. speaking of being back, guess who comes back to the united states in 22 days. that would be me. thats right...22 days. no, i'm not counting or anything, but i'm stoked to be coming home. chipotle, pjs, cats, food, food, my bed, food, my fam, friends, my cell phone, old navy, sweat pants, my shower...oooh i can't wait for it!! i love the france, dont get me wrong, but i miss home. a lot. A LOT. I'm going to be in cleveland for a rocking 13 days from may 31st to june 12th. So mark your calendars because i want to see all of you!! please please please make it to cleveland to see me because i would love that. If those two weeks dont fit your schedule, i will be chilling in wonderful carlisle pa making up the class that i didnt get to take in france because the frenchies were on strike. great...thanks france for making it so i couldnt go back to camp. you will always have my resentment for that. but i do love the france. it has given me one of the best years of my life. the best and the hardest. while it has been great, it has been a challenge being so far away from the life that i know. oh france...gotta love the love hate relationship we have developed. so please all of you wonderful people out there, tell me when you'll be around so i can make plans with you!! lotta love.

i have offically forgotten how to do homework/any work of any kind. the french, while good at many things really are not so keen on doing homework or anything and thus i haven't had homework since last may. now i've got 2 research papers to write and grammar homework to do every week and i just sit at my computer and stare at it because i honestly have the attention span of a 3 year old and i don't know how to change that. shoot.

So things that I miss...are you ready???

my pjs, my bed, being able to watch tv while sitting curled up on a couch, watching movies with my family, DRIVING!, chiptole, moms cooking, living on a floor with tons of people to entertain me when i get bored, having access to internet 24/7, being able to talk on my cell phone without having to pay for the super expensive minutes that they have here in europe, my flip phone, wearing sweat pants and not getting weird looks, singing to my music/the radio in the car, hugs, not being awkward when i walk into a store, speaking in my maternal language 24/7, not being awkward in my house, tourguiding, chicken ranch wraps, my friends, my cat, being able to go into the kitchen and take food from the fridge at any time of the day, ohio, arabica, starbucks, old navy, gap, taking a shower longer than 5 minutes, not having to do money conversions every time i buy something, being able to blow dry my hair every day, synchronized swimming, BEN AND JERRY'S, being in the same time zone as everyone else i know, having people online to talk to, reeses peanut butter cups, PEANUT BUTTER, milkshakes, not having to worry about stepping in dog poop, being able to buy DVD's at the store without worrying that they aren't in the right zone, I MISS YOU GUYS!!!

but there are tons of things about europe/france that rock...

being able to travel pretty much whenever i want, not having homework ever, speaking french, living sorta on my own, french food, hot chocolate, the desserts, the metro, the eiffel tower, every day is a new adventure, the bread, the music?, the history, the gardens, all the new foods, umm...i know theres more, but i can't think of them right now.

Okk...I know this blog is going to surprise some people, but I know this is the way that I'll get it out to camp people.

1st...I'll be home for the christmas(holiday) break. I'm coming home December 16, 2005 and returning to france December 31, 2005. Therefore I will be completely missing new years and will be looking for people to celebrate on the 30th with me. Please join in...it'll be fun. Besides, I've now learned the way to have fun...french style

2nd...I'll be staying in France until June. Although an unexpected decision, I am very happy with it. I haven't quite found what I'm looking for and need to stay here a little longer to see if I can find it. I also have not mastered the language as much as I would have hoped and therefore need to continue to work at it in France. While this may come as a surprise, it also gives all of you longer to buy that plane ticket and come to see me(spring break!!!! you know you want to!!!!)

Anyways, let me know what you all are up to over the holidays so that I can hang out and spend some time with my fav people in the world (dave...I'll be in chicago at some point too to get my visa and I'm trying to get nature sarah to come along too!!!).

I hope that everyone is doing well and I will be sending out the email tomorrow that will inform the rest of the world about this, so keep your eyes on your inboxes and don't forget to send me mail!
