Nothing big. I've been enjoying Illustration & Japanese classes most of all this semester, as well as learning more about color in painting. It's also cool to learn more about typography (the study of letter forms) in graphic design. Tomorrow will be the first New York trip with the Visual Communications program here with UD. Outside of class I've been enjoying the small group bible discussion that my co-leader Amy and I are doing. So far we've had pizza, played catchphrase, mafia, the family game, and telephone pictionary... oh yeah, and we're studying 1 Corinthians which has been really cool. We had a great discussion on the present day church, what's wrong with it, what's really important about it, and what's merely tradition. There are around 8 to 10 people in the group, and they're all really cool. One even has an aunt or something who plays in Malcom in the Middle... not that I really watch television much, but hey, it's cool anyway.

Tonight I watched The Secret Window with Johnny Depp and music by Philip Glass (an all-time favorite of mine, since a few years ago). My friend David and I have been watching alot of Depp movies lately, including Sleepy Hollow, directed by Tim Burton (my personal favorite, yeah, maker of Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare). In the Secret Window I noticed a scene where Mort's (Depp) ex-wife walks up his stairs and the camera angle and sequence of shots is too similar to not be referencing Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, the aerial view, then the view behind the character walking up the stairs. That one goes out to my brother Jeremy.

Well, who knows how long this page will be blank until the next time I post.

Threadless!

Yo guys!

Checkout Threadless.com... I have a design running right now for about a week in the scoring process. It's called "Eating an Apple". I'd appreciate it if you checked it out and rated it (if you want to). On the site, to the right there's a "random submissions" section which you can search through to find it. If my design gets enough ratings at a high enough score, it could win prize money (for my college fees you know). At the same time, if you think isn't all that great, be honest, give it a 1 out of 5 or something.

I also have another one coming up called "Inner Blob" which I spent more time on than Eating an Apple. I'll let you know when that one gets put up. Thanks, jweb

Thursday, January 18, 2007

I really just want 3 feet of snow to tromp through the woods to someplace I don't know... with my new big snow boots my friend gave me...

It did snow today, I had to shout for gladness, but not enough to tromp through. The flakes did look cool though. I couldn't make out any star-resembling shapes. They were more like icicles, just single picks long and narrow. They were all clumped together so at first it seemed like they were stars, but looking closer they were just miniature stalactites and stalagmites stuck together. I've found out that my eyesight at long range is so poor it's hard to read some street signs while driving, but closeup my eyesight is virtually a microscope.

Sunday, November 12, 2006

A taste of dawn.

Friday, November 03, 2006

The sunrise tomorrow will be at 6:33am. I got 9 1/2 hours of sleep last night and I'm ready to get up early to experience the dawn in autumn Rittenhouse park. Here I come, dawn.

"It never dawned on me." hm... I'd like to make a pun that makes sense out of that, but it's not dawning on me right now... oh wait.

I really wish my colored text was working right now. I'd add some life to this post.

"I hope your year is full of dawns," someone told me on my birthday.
Friday, October 20, 2006

Give me Purity,

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Do you not know
that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? But fornication and all uncleanness
or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints...
understand what the will of the Lord is. For this is the will of God, your
sanctification, that you obstain from sexual immorality. For you were bought at
a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's...
we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him
as He is. And everyone who has this hope purifies himself, just as He is pure. (various excerpts from the bible--matt. 5, corinth. 5, eph. 5, thess. 4, corinth. 6, 1 john 3)

...or give me death.

For this you know,
that no fornicator,
unclean person,
nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (eph.)

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but was in all points tempted as we are,
yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (heb. 4)

'tis the time of need.

Friday, September 08, 2006

Oh Jessica,

What can you guessica

Made such an awful messica?

I just thought of this today, without running into anyone named Jessica and without knowing anyone really well with that name. It's been one day less than 2 months to be exact since I posted last. My question for you is this: if you had a motto for your page, what would it be? On second thought, perhaps the heading at the top of your page is your motto. Than nevermind. But if you had a motto other than your heading...?

Saturday, April 22, 2006

So I was I doofus all day yesterday. It all started when Brett and I decided to buzz out heads Thursday night. Then Brett got this crazy idea to bet $20 that I would not keep my hair only half-buzzed (rather than buzzing all of it off) for the whole following day. Haha, but he was was wrong. I guess since he always had the full ride to college and never had much difficulty in financing his education, he doesn't quite grasp what it feels like to be forever in debt with mom and dad. So I did accept the bet. What's more is that he told me he'd give me $1 for every photo I get with a stranger. So I went to school wearing the T-shirt he made, with the words "doofus for dollars" (that is, getting dollars from Brett--at first people seemed obligated to give me money for the picture so I replaced "dollars" with "free", as you can see) on the front, and "Can I get your picture with me even though I'm a doofus?" on the back. So me and my friend Dan went around getting pictures with people: about 10 people from his dorm, a couple at the bus stop, the bus driver, and even one of the library curators. I added the number of photos up and totalled 23! Thus I was victorious in winning the bet and earning 23 extra dollars for a grand total of $43. Yes! Then I was reminded that I could use this money towards the spring IV retreat to Rehoboth next weekend, something I wasn't so positive about just because of the money situation. But now I'm going.

Sunday, April 09, 2006

Wisdom teeth. Blackout, then no wisdom teeth. I feel sleepy, airheaded, but I arrive at a Cozy Bed. Drugs and Forgetfulness. After I wake up, Yogurt and apple sauce drop into an empty stomach. Continually bed-ridden, an hour of Bible time, 2 hours of sleep, 2 hours of watching the Anime "Steamboy" with my awesome friend Ben Wallace from UD, 2 hours of sleep, 2 hours of learning Japanese while listening to the Beatles, 2 hours of watching a movie with that cool kid John Faxwel, and more sleep. Haha, I'm doing okay, though I'm no less than a chipmunk still from my swollen cheeks.

And in between I wonder... Where, oh where, is Stephe right now? All I can say is that I admire her so much for looking to God through all the African craziness going on in her life right now.
