| July Already!Wow, time is just flying by....I am back here working at the Moncton Hospital after a week off! I went up to Halifax for wed-sunday and it was so much fun! McG drove us up! Had so much fun hanging out with Seb adn then having a big potluck at my house on the saturday! I really really missed everyone after they left my house. haha...I think I had too much fun really, as I am feeling kinda blue since I got back Hahaha...I think I just need to motivate myself to get going doing stuff. Just been doing too much sitting around being lazy! Steph called me yesterday and I have a coffee date with her, so that is super exciting! I haven't seen her since March! Then on Thursday, there is a hospital Surf and Turf dinner for the residents and students, which rocks! Ali tells me that it was amazing food last year and I am always about the good food! I am really enjoying this week in Family Med! THis morning was pretty exciting and I learned a really important lesson. We were doing rounds on the inpatients this morning and found one of the patient kinda sprawled around her sheets with one hand clutching her shoulder and the other clutching a bottle of Nitro spray! We woke up the patient and turns out that she had been experiencing chest pain for about 30 min took some nitro spray and fell back asleep. Apparently she didn't feel it was necessary to tell the nurse. To tell the complete truth, when I just glanced into the room, I just saw that she was fast asleep. If my preceptor had not taken a double take and looked more closely, I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed!! Thus, I need to work on my observational skills. For sure. | | |
| FUn FUn fun in Moncton!Well, I've been working back in Moncton for almost 2 weeks now! First week was super fun in Orthopedic Surgery (admittedly a lot more fun than I anticipated). The Ortho dept in Moncton is definitely a boys club, but not at all in a bad way! They are actually really great and that's prolly why I had a good experience! This week, I'm in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I must admit that Gyne makes me squeemish! And seriously, not much does that to me! I've been doing a lot of prenatal exams and soon I"ll be a pro! I've also done like 20 Pap smears and I'm glad to be getting the practice! So it's really been all good here in Moncton! Last night, I got a call from Nessa saying she was in town and asking me if I wanted to go see her brother Gino's Dinner THeatre Show! hahaha....of course!! It was a pretty good show and the food was alright. But I just got a kick out of Gino acting, singing and dancing! hahaha...it's just his summer job because he doesn't know what he wants to do with himself...I told Nessa that he has a shot of being a male model She thinks the same and then she can be his agent. Anyways, after dinner theatre, Nessa drove me home and we were chatting in the car and we didn't notice how long we were talking, but apparently we drained the battery!! So had to get my Dad, put the car in neutral ( I steered and Nessa and my Dad pushed) then my Dad pull the car out and we did a boost! Neither of us 3 had ever done such a thing. I'm surprised we didn't electrocute ourselves!!! At one point, Nessa dropped the wires and there was a snap and some sparks. hahaha...but it's all good, we got the car started and Nessa was on her merry way. Alright, I'm just on a quick lunch break here and I've got to get back to the office! Hopefully I'll remember to update more frequently than I have! | | |
| No more teachers...no more books!Wow, I can't believe that was the last exam of 2nd year. I must admit that I wrote it quite painlessly, now, that doesn't mean I did well...but I do believe I passed and I don't care how I did as long as I passed! YAY!! SO excited that summer is here...except that it's quite chilly! We had an early morning exam and I guess it was kinda nice to have the whole day to frolic! After the exam, I came home to do a bit of laudry (which reminds me that I should bring in my laundry!) and then Jenny came over, we had lunch (eat some of that food in my fridge!), then Ronak came and we went with him to get his new license and pick up his new car!!! Sweet! Then we drove to Jer's new house and hung out there for a short while and went to the End of the Year BBQ at the Tupper. I got to be the first to ride in Ronak's car! So sweet! The Acura's a sweet ride! hahaha...nope, I'm not gonna get one of those, I'm waaaayyy to cheap for that! The BBQ was fun too, lots of food and people, but it was getting pretty cold out by then! We hung out in the Link for a while and I just got home. There's a party at the Morash's tonight. I'm going to head over to Laura's in a little bit and we'll head over together! Prolly won't be out long, have my last day of volunteering :( So sad about that. I will miss my volunteering in the summer. I'll especially miss Les! I still can't believe that summer is here, I'm just not ready for it.....but ready or not, it is come! My parent's are coming down to get me on Sunday afternoon and then I'll be working in Moncton for a couple of weeks, then a week off! Excited already about celebrating McG's B-Day and coming to Hali to visit! Then back to work for a few more weeks! SO many exciting plans shaping up for the summer with Jen Knight coming back to visit and Collin potentially coming to tour a bit of the Maritimes! Will be awesome!! Alrighty, bye for now! | | |
| Soon it will be crunch time again...Wow I cannot believe that it's the last week of school!!! How did the time pass so quickly? Also, I can't believe I haven't updated in so long! I guess life has been pretty busy. With everything wrapping up for the year, there have been tons of social stuff to go to and of course things like end of the year reports to write! So much exciting stuff has been going on that I don't even know where to start... Well right now I'm pretty excited for tomorrow as I am going to have dinner with Andrew whom I haven't seen in forever! Gosh! It's funny to think that in undergrad we hardly went a day without seeing each other, just cause we were all in the same classes. I feel a bit sad that we've grown apart in the past few years. Thinking back on it, he's been a pretty great friend. Well, at least I'll see him tomorrow and we'll catch up! Also exciting is that I just started dating someone who is fabulous. We went out this weekend and I'm supposed to give him a call after dinner tomorrow to maybe hang out for a bit My timing is as horrible as ever though, as I am set to take off for Moncton on Sunday! And pretty much I'll be away all summer...but hey, gotta roll with the punches. But I am pretty excited to go home as well! To hang out with my parents, my friends and home and the McG of course! We've gotta keep watching MDWAV!!!! hahaha...marathon! It'll also be nice to work at the Moncton Hospital again. Wow, there really is a lot of exciting stuff going on...I am also looking into getting auto insurance as well as getting an auto this month! The whole process is pretty complex, but I'm sure I'll figure it out . I had a little visit with Dave Shaw and Aurora today and that was really fun. They are such a cute couple and I love them! We could just sit around and shoot the shit for hours, but of course I hadn't eaten supper and really needed to head home anyways. It was such a gorgeous day out today. So warm, 20 deg. It has cooled down quite a bit though. I hope it's nice and sunny out tomorrow too! Alrighty, time to do some studying and maybe just chill out for a bit! | | |
| For the second time in my life...So today, I walked into the IWK Play room and sat down with this little girl who was sitting by herself doing a craft. So I started talking to her and helping her pick out little beads for her craft. After a few minutes, she says :" You know what?" Me :" What?" Her: "You are some cute" Me: "Aww..really? thanks!" Her :" oh wait, I mean you are pretty" hahaha...isn't that so funny? I think I got a funny look on my face and that's why she added the "pretty" part because that was the second time in my life that someone told me i was "some cute". I do believe the first time was by some random guy who tried to talk to me on the bus or at the mall... HAHA... She was such a cute little girl and she was working so hard on her craft! I love long weekends spent at home. No going out tonight. Just being lazy and watching some Ghost Whispere (yES!) Went out for dinner last night with Ronak and Amy and guess what? Who walks in but Dr. Goldbloom (ex-Chancellor of Dal and super cute man!) with Adrienne Clarkson!!(former gov gen) So crazy! hahaha, they must be old buddies. Actually, the Thai place we were eating at was pretty much filled with docs. The table next to us is our current unit head (presumably with a table of collegues and there was a resident sitting in another corner. Ah, time for tv! And putting away laudry...Have a most pleasant evening! | | |
