So I am a slow learner...

...But slow is good and I am so excited to be learning all that I have been learning about healthy eating....so for the past two years or so I have been blessed by the Lord placing some amazing ladies in my life that I have been watching and listening to about the healthy food choices they make for their families. I have also been reading a bit from some whole food cook books like Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and The Makers Diet by Jordin Rubin...I however do not follow any type of method such as The Makers Diet, but I have been learning from those books as well as the amazing women God has placed in my life.

I have been introduced to raw cow and goats milk and we enjoy it so much. I have learned that when raw milk gets sour it is not bad for you at all...in fact it is better for you, but I am not sure I could drink sour milk...maybe someday. Anyhow I had some raw goat milk the other day and ended up letting it ferment and then I separated the whey and made my own cream cheese...and let me tell you it is soooo yummy!!!!

we ate it on some Ezekiel 4:9 bread

My friend Linda gave me a recipe for a beef stroganoff that is so good too so tonight after soaking some quinoa for the past 3 days I cooked up the quinoa and made the stroganoff and we had the stroganoff served over the quinoa...it too was sooo good!!!

Here is the recipe for the stroganoff:

1 lb beef (I used ground bison) but any beef will suffice I am sure.

1/4 C Amaranth (for thickening).

2 cups of stock (I did not have beef stock on hand so I just used chicken stock that I had in my pantry.)

Simmer the above for about a 1/2 an hour then turn off heat and add 1 C of Sour cream.

Serve over noodles or rice.

After my quinoa was done sprouting I cooked it like rice in chicken stock and I added a 16 oz jar of Salsa.

That's it so easy...my kind of recipe!

Ground bison

Sour cream (another duh)

(And one more duh for the record) Salsa

Ok so all the above pics do not do it justice, trust me this stuff is soooo yummy!!!!

And just because here are pics of my amazing husband in the Testimonies Vinyl Graphics office! Isn't he cute? You don't have to answer that...I sure think he is cute though!!!

Here he is sporting his new beard/goatee thing (not sure what to call it) ....kinda has the Amish look going on, although I am not sure there are too many tattooed Amish men going around.

And last but not least here a 3 pictures that I promised in a previous post that I would show you all of the vinyl scripture/quotes we hoping to do with Testimonies, hopefully soon.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Look at what we grew! And oh boy was it ever YUMMY!!!

We have been desiring to have a garden for some time now and we did have one a couple of years ago, however I was a bit overzealous with that one and it got way to much for me to deal with...if I remember correctly I think we planted ANYTHING and EVERYTHING thinking how hard can this be...LOL...anyhow the squash took over the whole garden and the carrots never came up and the tomatoes were eaten by bugs! So this time we planted a small future spaghetti sauce garden with just a few varieties of Tomatoes and some Oregano, Basil, and Thyme. This garden is a bit easier for a novice like me to manage.

Here a few pics of our current garden that Jessica took for me.

Shortly after planting this garden our basil completely disappeared...I mean it it is not like it was withering and died....it was there one day and the whole plant was completely gone the next...someone told me that most likely a bird ate it as they like Basil....I think it might have been this bird that did it.

Ok that is it for today...I will be back in a few days or so to show you all some pics of some new decals we will be doing for Testimonies Vinyl Graphics. Thank you to Carmen for giving us the inspiration and motivation to go back and do what our first intentions were with Testimonies...although in the early days of the business we were only thinking of doing vinyl scripture on cars only and not on the walls in homes, I thank the Lord for using Carmen to push us back to those roots and give us the desire to go one step further.

I am a bit partial to these new decals and think you will like them as well!

I love the message of Grace – I will never get over it!

Yesterday, I was at this great ice cream place and they had the best sweet cream as a base for your "designer" ice-cream. After choosing your basic flavor, then you can have whatever you want cut into the mix. It could be different berries, it could be Reese's Pieces, it could be broken up Oreos, or (sigh) the cookie dough. So, I tried vanilla, but I really liked the sweet cream better –it was kind of mellow. I said, "I want that. I just want one little scoop of that." I also asked for strawberries, so they chopped up the strawberries right in front of me – they diced them up and mixed them in. They mixed the strawberries in and I'm telling you – it was delicious! Mmmm!

Now, come back. You're making plans for ice-cream some time today, aren't you! Focus!

The sweet cream was through all of the flavors. It was the constant. Then, they did mix some sort of a strawberry sauce with it, too. But, the sweet cream was what held it all together. That's Grace! You can mix in other things, but we always have the sweet cream. Amen! I wish I had a little sample, and you could all taste it right now and say, "That's grace!"

We've been busy, busy, and very busy, repainting the kitchen, and living room, office, bathrooms and hallway....the colors we had in those areas were just way to dull and dark so it was time to repaint and refresh those areas up....they are starting to look nice.

Marks eyesight is getting better each day, he still is seeing somewhat blurry though but he said it is definitely far better then before the surgery.

Need to catch up on laundry today and defrost the freezer (oh how I wish we bought a frost free freezer instead.)

Ok this was a much ado about nothing kind of post...I just wanted to let my 3 readers know that I am still alive.

Oh and one more thing...guess who is still here everynight and almost ALL night?

I crawled into bed last night at about 10:30 looking forward to a sweet nights rest, only to hear this:

Now it was somewhat of a nice sound....AT FIRST!!! But here it is now 45 minutes later....

And the ~~saga~~ song continues on still about an hour and a half later...

And all of this sound is coming from somewhere deep in the branches of the orange tree directly outside my bedroom window...

So I headed to bed at about 1:30 to try to fall asleep again, and I managed to fall asleep somewhere about 2:30a.m. however I woke up at 5:00 a.m. to hear the bird STILL singing away (and for that matter, it is now 8:00 a.m. and I believe he is still going now...I can hear that same song through all the noise of life waking up on my street)...what is so important in that birds life that he has to go on about ALL night and seemingly into the daylight hours as well???

Edit #2: pictures from the Passover Sedar...my camera is being stinky again...and many pictures came out blurry...this blurry issue with my camera has been going on for a long while now...the ones that I had to delete would have been beautiful had it not been for my camera and the problems it has with taking blurry pictures, Kayla does take beautiful photos...it was just my camera that was the problem.

Anyhow here are the best pictures from the Sedar.

Edit: Ok Mark is safe from seeing me clearly in all my morning 'beauty' for at least one more day since he woke up this morning still seeing a bit blurry...

On a serious note though...he is seeing better, the discomfort he felt yesterday right after the surgery is all but completly gone, he still does see things a bit blurry, they told him that would be the case for a few days, and that his eyesight will only improve as the days go on. He went to a follow up appointment today and they said his eyesight is 20/30, and will most likely only get better.

We went to church tonight for a guest speaker teaching on the passover and all of us celebrating a passover meal together...we ended up leaving early though as the bright lights in the fellowship hall were bothering Marks eyes...I do have a couple of pictures from the Passover that Kayla took for me as she had a better view then I did (Thank you Kayla) so I will upload the pics in a day or two to share with you all:)

Hi all just a quick post to mention the movie below one more time and to say that we are off to Phoenix for Mark to have his Lasik eye surgery....prayers appreciated that all goes well, and that the car does not give us any problems...it has been making funny noises on occasion lately...so prayers for safety as well because the last time the car made funny noise like this was mentioned in this post and that put us out a few dollars and a couple of days...God is good I trust Him, I just wouldn't want anything to happen that expensive again especially in light of this elective surgery costing a bundle....it would just be more money then we would want to spend...heck this surgery is more then we WANT to spend, but Mark would like to see without glasses his eyesight is very poor and I can't blame him for wanting to see....the part I am not sure about is that after 20 years of marriage he will now know what I REALLY look like in the morning...I think I may actually scare him, guess we'll find out tomorrow morning.

This upcoming Friday, Ben Stein goes back to school. Not to cluelessly call the roll this time, but to get to the bottom of why Charles Darwin's theory of evolution seems to be the only answer to every question. We saw a rough cut of Stein's already-controversial documentary back in January. Then a final print a couple of weeks ago. We finished the job of 3200 decals in record time and they looked nice if you ask me . We were pretty tired last week as a result, but the return for our work was worth it...family working together on the decals all joyfully too I might add was the best benefit. Then the financial benefit was a blessing as well since Mark had been contemplating having Lasik surgery done, but the cost was a bit much more then we were able to fork out right now...then out of the blue God brought us the decal job with the profit being exactly what was needed for the Lasik...so he goes in this Friday to have it done.

Oh my goodness, I am sitting here typing this post the dog is going crazy barking at something outside and I hear the bleating of a goat......we live in the city and goats are not your normal sound around here...be right back as I am going to ~~be nosey~~ investigate the sound...............ok so it seems that our across the street neighbor has two goats and he got them this weekend for pets for his nieces.... He said he wants to get them used to people so my family is welcome to come play with the goats anytime we want, I told him my backyard is full of weeds and said if he wants to feed the goat we'd love to have him over. I think this is cool because these neighbors are muslim and we usually do not say more then a hello to them (not because we don't want to but rather because it seems that is the way they want things...), the whole 9 years we have lived here it has always been that way; they are not to out going and neighborly above and beyond the few waves we give each other when we do see them. Anyhow I see an opportunity to be able to show the love of Christ to them.

This past Sunday we had an impromptu BBQ with friends...it was a fun time, but it already is getting hot here....we should have done it last month when the weather was a bit more tolerable...we had a great time just the same. My pictures may not interest you at all, but I have said it before that this is one way I preserve memories, because I don't scrapbook and because my brain forgets things all to easily anymore...therefore I blog my life.

Are You Attending the "Oprah Church?"

"You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are all around you (for the Lord your God is a jealous God among you), lest the anger of the Lord your God be aroused against you and destroy you from the face of the earth."

Our family stopped watching television a long time ago, so in some ways we're out of the loop to what's going on in the television world. For instance, I didn't realize how influential Oprah Winfrey had become in our culture—even to Christian women. I knew she was popular and touted a lot of psychobabbly, feel good ideas; but, I didn’t realize how “religious” she was and I didn’t know how wild her beliefs had become. It seems as though she has become the latest and greatest “New Age guru,” not just to housewives, but also to working women, and now, even to men. Father Hollywood said this on his blog:

"She [Oprah] is one of the greatest shapers of philosophy and politics in popular America today...She is also popularizing a syncretistic religion that blends elements of Christianity with Eastern paganism and Western Gnosticism, a religion that has great appeal in this day and age of relativism and self-help."

One of my readers sent me this link (thanks Theresa!) and I was shocked when I watched this video. I don't know anything about the book that's advertised at the end, but the presentation of Oprah's beliefs (factual, in context, and her actual words - not hearsay) is startling!

She gives testimony of the moment she finally "saw the light." She begins by describing (with obvious irritation) how she was sitting in her Baptist church one Sunday when she was in her late twenties, listening to the pastor talk about things like how great God was, and how the pastor went on about God's omniscience, and His omnipresence.

She talked about how you had to be there at 8:00 a.m. or you didn’t get a seat (what a drag). She shares how she finally “took God out of the box” and how there were “rules, belief systems, and doctrines” in Christianity that obviously troubled her.

She describes her grand epiphany when the pastor said, “The Lord thy God is a jealous God.” She said she was caught up in the rapture of the moment until he said “jealous.” She then went on to say:

“And something struck me…I was thinking God is all, God is omnipresent… and God is also jealous; God is jealous of me? And something about that didn’t feel right in my spirit because I believe that God is love and that God is in all things; and so that’s when the search for something more than doctrine started to stir within me.”

Hmmm…something stirred within her indeed. The problem is that in her search for “more than doctrine” Satan has deceived her with a “different doctrine;” a doctrine that is devoid of the Truth—one that denies the person of Christ—one that denies the Gospel, and embraces the worship of self—leading to death.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." (2 Timothy 4:3-5, NKJV)

She goes on to say:

“God is a feeling experience not a believing experience. And if your religion is a believing experience, if God for you is still about a belief then it’s not truly God.”

But God’s Word tells us:

"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:

Behold, you despisers,
Marvel and perish!
For I work a work in your days,
A work which you will by no means believe,
Though one were to declare it to you.”
(Acts 13:38-41, NKJV)

We’d better wake up and start speaking the truth consistently and courageously; because false teachers are out there—ear ticklers who would entice us into believing that we are all little gods; we are all capable of our own salvation—that God is nothing more than a concept “within ourselves.”

But be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Pray for Oprah and for those she is deceiving. Remain gracious when dealing with those who have been fooled by heresy. Remember they are perishing—and have compassion. Send Oprah letters of love that speak truth, pray for her, but don’t listen to her—and share the truth in love with those who have.

May God be glorified!
