| Had a GREAT Thanksgiving, but...I just wanted to vent real fast... I hate when people define themselves by believing that they are one of those people who don't fit into any box. Do you know those types? The ones who can sit around for hours debating the truth in any philosophy, not because they're the open-minded, accepting individual they're trying to portray themselves as, but because they find it impossible to know what they actually believe. They try to prove to everyone by the way they act, the music they listen to, the poetry or deep meditations they write and the way they dress (etc) that they can't be defined and that society has no grip on them, even though by everything I just described, they fit into a stereotype. It's not that debating philosophy is bad or that dressing differently is a crime. I'm all for it! Just for goodness sake, have an opinion of your own! Believe that SOMETHING is right, even if it's not what I believe because then at least you'll have some kind of backbone! Have an answer for a question, rather than another question. Have a REASON for what you do rather than just showing us that you're not like us. WHY aren't you like us? Maybe we aren't actually that different and you've bought into a stereotype about ME. Frankly, some of you are flat out snobby. You're not above me, more "intellectual," "sensitive," or "globally-aware" than I am just because I look and possibly even act (which you won't know about at first glance either, by the way) somewhat mainstream. Augh! Don't know if this made sense, but I feel slightly better. |
