Why do I have 3 kidneys?  Because my 2 original ones don't work.  They haven't been working for the past 4 years.  A machine kept me alive during those 4 years until one Friday night I recieved a call that changed my life.

On May 5, 2007 a young 43 year old woman died and my life was restored. In the last moments of her life, her and her family did one of the most unselfish, kindnest acts a human being could ever do:  she literally gave herself so others mght live.  She saved me, and I am forever grateful and indebted to her and her family.  I could only imagine the grief and heartache of losing a love one.  At the age of 43, my kidney donor was probably a wife and mother.  She was someone's sister, daughter, and friend.  How awful it must have been to lose someone so quickly and at such a young age.  Although nothing could save her, they knew they could save others and through their act she lives on in the lives of the individuals she saved.  I don't live for myself anymore, I live for both of us.
