I am dipping into a book by Juliet Gardiner about the Second World War that is very interesting and helpful towards my writing. It tells you exactly when cinemas opened after being closed for fear of people being trapped there in air raids. I also found that there is no point in looking up old newspapers for details of weather on a specific day, as forecasts were omitted for fear of giving away useful info to the enemy. Also, the papers were forbidden from making any reference to the weather of the previous ten days. Helpful.
