| | UpdateHey everyone. It's been ages since I've written on xanga and I'm not really sure if that's such a good thing. I've turned into a Facebook person mainly b/c almost everyone I know from xanga is also on Facebook and so are most of my friends @ U of M.
However, I just wanted to give a short update for those who aren't. Here are the big things that have changed for me:
I've gotten my confirmations back for both Florence and Oxford for this summer. I'm going to be spending six weeks in an opera workshop in Florence, studying in the Corsi Villa where the first opera was composed. This is an amazing location-it was the summer home of one of the members of the Florentine Camerata, a group of men who developed the concept of opera. One of these men was the father of Galileo, the astronomer and he stayed in this house! The historical connections are amazing. After 6 weeks of Italian, Opera training and voice, we will be staging an opera in Florence. We will also be going on an excursion to Cinque Terre and Venice!
I'll have roughly 2 weeks between my spring semester and summer semester. During that time I will be roaming Europe-hopefully I'll find a U of M student to roam w/ me whose schedule is similar to mine. I hope to visit Germany and Lithuania to see some of my relatives and also to visit friends in the UK. I probably won't have time for Ireland, which is a disappointment for me for me, however I will have time for Paris, and that makes up for the lack of time in Ireland. After that I'll have a semester in Oxford in Medieval Studies for my second degree. It will be amazing to study at such an old location and I hope that I'll be able to get an idea of the Oxford experience, as it's one of my dream grad schools.
I'll be gone from the second week in May until the third week in August. It will be a long time but I know it will be amazing experience.
