I'm just going to go through everything that I've done in the last two days, okay? If you don't want to know about it, then please stop reading this entry.
So, I woke up at 7 Friday morning, packed my bags, made breakfast for Nick, and then got picked up at 8:30. I was going to Vermont with Christine's family and some of their "family friends". Her and I watched Pirates of the Caribbean (How do you spell that???) on the way there until we arrived at this place with a very very weird name. It was basically a bunch of walking/hiking trails for people to go and look at rocks and trees.....Cool, right??? It was pretty boring, but I got this necklace this and I really like it so I suppose the several hour walk/hike was worth it. Except, there wasn't much for me to eat when we wre there. Christine's mother packed some food but it was....questionable, so I had like half a mini bagel and then part of this...something made by some other woman.
After this, we went on a ferry and arrived at this town place. After the adults spent a long while looking at trees and water again, we went to this shopping center. And I found this very nice shirt at Urban Outfitters but I couldn't buy it because we were a little behind schedule after having to make a stop to get a first aid kit for Christine's foot(she stepped on something) and then running over to give money to a really talented street performer.
Then we finally arrived to the hotel, which was luckily a suite so we didn't have to be near her parents very much. We spent a couple hours watching Degrassi and hiding from the sketchy hotel manager who kept coming in and out of our room to fix the toilet before we went out to dinner at Friendly's (apparently the decision of which restaurant was made by the mother's of each other the three families there because it would be easier to take their kids there [though I think the original plan of ordering pizza would still have made a lot more sense considering it doesn't require even leaving the hotel {Except for one of the families who decided to stay at a Marriot, they would have had to drive to our hotel}]) BUT ANYWAYS, we came back after, took showers, and went to sleep.
The next morning, very early, I woke to the loud and never ending ranting of mrs. shieh. I think she was trying to get us to wake up (which I ended up doing even though Christine refused [she's a pretty heavy sleeper {and a real pain to share a bed with btw}]), though I'm not entirely sure since it tends to take a lot of effort for me to listen to her talk. Because, the thing with her talking is that it never ends, ever ever ever. It's not something I'm willing to deal with that early in the morning.
Right, so after we got up, Christine and I went and got breakfast from the sketchy little restaurant in the hotel, which was being watched over by the sketchy hotel manager. Then we got in the car and arrived at a museum. They let us go by ourselves for the many many many many many hours we were there. It was tiring and by far, the most uninteresting museum I have ever been to during my 15 years of living so far.
AND THEN! After a lot of begging, we went to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. It was amazing. I made a teddybear who has cow patterns on it...I named it Seal (hehe, it's a cowbearseal). I like being immature sometimes (a lot of the time?).
After that, we left for home. They took the really curving road on the way back instead of the big highwayness and both Christine and I felt really carsick. That motion sickness could have also been caused by the fact that we were on that road AND watching a movie in the car at the same time? Whatever. For dinner, we stopped at the cp diner, which was okay and then they dropped me home. And here I am blogging about the entire event.
Okay, now I think you should realize what this trip was really like for me. I....was....soooo....out....of....place. (: Because, in case you haven't picked up on this fact: I am not Chinese. None of the adults would speak English (unless one of Christine's parents needed to say something only to me, which was rare) and most of the kids there weren't speaking English either. Luckily, I've learned to take the words that they say and turn them into a somewhat relaxing background noise. So, basically, the last two days, it's been a group of 9 asians.....and me. Which looked kind of funny when we all were out at dinner because they were all so loud talking about things (that I couldn't understand) and I was just sitting there daydreaming...totally zoned out the entire time. Which, I completely don't mind, I've gotten really used to it, but sometimes in certain situations, it makes me laugh a little to myself.
Oh, and this was the first year in my entire life where I haven't done anything at all for the 4th of July (apparently no one thought it was very important [ I don't really either, it's just different than what I'm used to]).
AND.
During the car ride, both ways, that's like 5 hours total, Christine's parents listened to the same exact cd through the car stereo. Oh....my...gosh. I wanted to break that cd in half. It was like rock/rap/pop/jazz music (all in Chinese) and it was so horrible. I'm kind of glad that I didn't know what they were saying, because I bet the words to it would have made me get even more annoyed by it. But seriously, they put it on repeat for 5 hours. I ended up listening to track 3 of the cd at least 5 times and as I'm sitting here now, I can remember how it went. It was like intense rap with random pop verses and some orchestral stuff in the background... it was so bad.
Overall, I have had a pretty good couple of days...interesting at least.
(:
Disclaimer: I didn't edit this entry and I just kind of poured my brain out on my computer and I can;t even remember what I put in it now. So sorry...?
