| Soul Miner's DaughterFor all you Soul Miner's Daughter fans out there... this video is amazing! Seeing Jennifer and Cory performing, even in such a poor format, was enough to send chills down my spine... Maybe this is old news for all the hardcore SMD fans, since it's been up on YouTube for almost 3 months, but if you haven't seen it yet, it's spectacular!
Just check it out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0ACS0wtJnFk
And have a great day!
::Edit 1:: Holy Crap! And now I find out that one of my favorite SMD songs is by a different group with the same name! Check out http://www.zebox.com/soulmd/ and skip to the song called "FALLING DOWN" (the music player is at the top of the screen, near the right, and it takes a sec to load)... Now tell me if that sounds familiar... Again, maybe I'm behind the times, but I always assumed that all of the songs on the SMD CD that got passed around our high school were the Jennifer Nettles and Cory Jones SMD, or at least Jennifer Nettles Band...
pqwejnkjabdsnip <---- That's the sound of the explosion... my mind was just blown... ::End Edit 1::

| Feet are strange...So, it's a Friday night and I'm hanging out at the South Campus Gateway, eating Cold Stone right there by McFadden's and the Ugly Tuna, and I can't help but notice all of the girls walking by in high heels.

I can't help but think how weird feet look and behave. I mean, seriously, look at those things. But, yeah, so I'm looking at these girls, clopping along in their high heels, and I start noticing how some of these girls (particularly the more inebriated of the subjects) just looking like they weren't meant to walk on their toes like that. It just doesn't look natural. At the same time, though, it seems vaguely familiar.
Then, all of a sudden, it hits me:

Every time I'd ever seen a dog walk on it's hind legs, it has looked exactly like these girls were walking now.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think this is a bad thing. After all, there is a certain natural beauty to the anatomy of this creature, which is very similar to most mammals. And there are certainly more than a few girls who deserve the namesake of their canine counterparts. It just confuses me a little bit. I mean, my little dog Maya can barely stand on her hind legs (or, should I say, on her toes?) for more than a few seconds. It seems to me that it can't be too comfortable. Is it really worth it for two to four extra inches and a bit of that self confidence that comes with conforming to today's "sexy" standards?
I won't try to answer that question. After all, high heels do look good. Maybe I'm just trained by society to think that; or perhaps its my animal instinct to be drawn something like that. For now, though, I'll just sit back and be thankful that I don't have to even consider wearing high heels.
P.S. Long time since I updated, huh? | | |
| Insert Witty Title HereBlah, blah, blah... pretend I wrote something interesting and/or meaningful here...
I haven't updated in months...
I'm working at a coffee shop, and have been since last September... no more Kroger for me...
I'm switching my major from Computer Science Engineering to (probably) Finance (or something like that)...
Because of that, I'm taking a quarter off school to make sure I'm making the right decision... considering its my junior year and I'm taking a completely different direction, it better at least be the right one for me.
Yeah, so I'm working full time at a coffee shop this quarter... It's nice, because its "The Marketplace" at OSU, which is the best campus-dining facility that is first and foremost campus-dining... if you've ever been there, you know how awesome it is... the benefit of this is 3 good meals a day! I take a bagel or something when I get there at 10:00, get soup and salad for lunch around 2:00, get a meal to take home at 6:30 (usually smoked turkey panini or chicken alfredo), and then I can do whatever after 6:30, since I don't have to be at work until 10:00 the next morning! It's pretty great... and it saves me tons of money on groceries...
Also, I thought my dad was getting married this summer... well, turns out he's not... he's getting married March 3. Yeah, that's about a month from now... he called me and told me a week or so ago... there's a long story behind it (no, it's not bad or anything, I just don't really feel like typing it... I've told it about a bazillion times...), but still... crazy...
:: Edit ::
If you don't know what DRM is, or don't care about downloading music, legally/illegally, then skip this next section... but still check out the link!!!!!! Jonathan Coulton is great!
:: End Edit ::
Recently I discovered Jonathan Coulton... he's pretty awesome... the background is that there are a bunch of people who would actually pay for their music to download online if they were given reasonably priced options that didn't have restrictive DRM on them that kept them from using the music the way the wanted... like putting it on any digital music player that you would like to (downloading from iTunes only gives you iPod compatible music...), or burning it on a CD and giving it to your friend (yeah, that's illegal right now, even if you aren't making money off it), or putting it in the background of your latest video that you plan on uploading to YouTube (again, technically illegal). In an attempt to prove this theory, Jonathan Coulton quit his day job and committed to releasing at least one "thing" (like a song) each week (he called it his "Thing-A-Week Project"... creative ), and he released all of this under the Creative Commons License (meaning you can do whatever you want with it as long as you aren't making money off it and you give him credit). He also released all of it for free on a podcast, meaning his only source of income was people who wanted to pay a subscription ($1 a week) or make a donation for the music they kept (suggested donation, $1 per song; I kept 14 of the songs, so I donated $15 dollars). And you know what? He made it all 52 weeks. Conclusion: people don't want to steal the music they download; but, given the options with the restrictiveness of DRM and the current laws concerning music copyright, it seems almost outrageous to pay! If people are given the opportunity, some will still steal it or use it without giving credit where credit is due, but most people WILL pay for it... people that wouldn't have paid for it before... stupid DRM...
Okay, that's my little anti-DRM rant...
Sometimes I hate Facebook... because it's turned me into a Facebook stalker... well, kinda. There's this girl that always comes into the coffee shop and orders the same thing, and since I'm almost always there, we've started talking a little bit... joking around about how she doesn't even need to order anymore, or her telling me that I work to much, etc... It was kinda nice to just see her come in, smile, and wave to me... until I Facebook stalked her and found out that, even though it says she isn't seeing anyone, she is not the right kind of girl for me... I'm not trying to be all "holier than thou", but she's the type of girl that goes out and drinks every weekend (I should have figured... she's a South campus girl... j/k )... and if I'm going to have any type of social relationship with someone, it'd be kinda nice if we did the same type of stuff. Anyways, even though I know I was never going to ask her out, Facebook has ruined for me the little thing that we did have... stupid Facebook...
Okay, that's my little anti-Facebook rant...
Oh, and that reminds me of something my grandma (dad's mom) says every once in a while when I come home: "So, Keith, are there any little girls that come into your coffee shop?" Yes, grandma, there are... unfortunately, not the right ones for me... Oh, well... I can still at least make a regular skim mocha for her just about every day at about 5 or 6...
So, I bought V for Vendetta, because it's awesome...
I'm almost done eating all of my Christmas candy (yes, I still get Christmas candy...)
Oh, and I've been watching Scrubs a lot. Sometimes with Sarah Argentine, but she's busy, so I watch it by myself a lot, too...
My hair is pretty long right now... hasn't even been near this long in years... I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, but just a trim. I'm going to keep it long; get it a bit longer, maybe... I just need a trim because it's really starting to look like a mullet...
And that's my life... pretty random and disjointed... sorry for the long post, but it's been a while... I bet at least one or two people might read this... except for the DRM part... that's a little boring, even if you are interested by copyright law and digital rights...
So, nighty-night, folks!

| Just saw "Little Miss Sunshine"... and it was amazing!!!
Now, there's still one more movie out now that I want to see... "A Prarie Home Companion"... we'll see if we can't get that taken care of tomorrow night...
P.S. My last roommate is leaving for a week... I'll be all alone here in Columbus!!!

| PartySo, I went out to the Nuthouse tonight for the first time... it was fun, I danced for the first time in a long time... and my friend's roommate knows one of the bouncers at a club by the Nuthouse, so he can get us into most of the High/Lane-area clubs for free!
But now I'm dead tired and I have to shower and then wake up to go to work at 10:00am... the earliest shift I've had in a long time!!!
So... goodnight, moon... and all the rest of y'all!!!
P.S. Oh, yeah, and my bike's front tire went flat... the weekend that my sister takes the car to go home... which makes for a long walk to work...
