| Hey all - sorry we really suck at this blog thing. In my desire to keep in better touch with my little sister, I (Kim) have begun a myspace page. In the coming weeks I will have it totally awesome with all kinds of pictures and such because Kara (my sister) is going to help me out with it... but I tend to update that page more now than I do this site... so, check it out! http://www.myspace.com/kimkrabach Things with us are cool - We're all getting ready to take a trip to PA to visit family for Christmas. Jeff just got over a cold, and now Noah and I have one (it SUCKS). Tonight we're doing this Christmas program thingy for another church's womens group because Jeff's aunt needed help - it'll be interesting. Hopefully I can still sing ;) Anyway, off to get stuff done... Adios! ~Kim | | |
| -Kim here- Hey all! Jeff and I now have DSL, so we'll be online a lot more (yay!). Noah is growing so much and getting such a great personality :) He wants to be sitting so much now even though he can't sit on his own yet, and he's babbling a LOT. Last month he and I went to PA to visit with my parents and brother, and we also all took a day to go to NYC to visit my little sister. Jeff is currently the lead in a play called "Sly Fox" at a community theatre in Toledo and he is so glad to be back in theatre. We're both hoping to do a musical somewhere in the spring. I'm busy playing the role of stay-at-home mom with my little guy and watching a lot of TV (bleh...). Anyway, I'm going to try to catch some sleep... | | |
| The Church- Jeff Here - As many of you know Kim and I have been living in MI and attempting to start a new church. This has brought several issues to my mind. The one most recently on my mind is, what is the church? This seems to me to be a very important question in general but especially when you are trying to start a "church". Now as I understand it the church consists of the people who are followers of Christ. The church is not a building or an organization (though we do use this word to describe these things) but rather the people. So what does that mean for a church planter? What am I suppossed to be creating? Am I able to create a church? And should I get paid for this? It seems to me that the church as we see it now is a corruption of the original intent of Christ when he invested in the lives of His disciples. It seems that the corruption of leadership that existed in the time of papal power still exists in the church today in the CEO's of our churches. And I am trying to start a church. What does that look like? I certainly do not want to start something that has me at the center. I certainly do not want to create an organization where I tell everyone how to live their lives as I view it according to the scriptures. I do not want to be the man with all the answers that everyone exhonorates. I want to journey through life with others who seek to understand that "to live is Christ, and to die is gain" as Paul says. But I cannot earn a living off of this. So, I am forced to figure out a different path to earn a living. But, I assure you that I am going to continue to pursue "ministry" in whatever career I hold. I tell you there are so many things on my mind and I desire greatly to write them all down but I will just try to blog more often. If anyone has any biblical insight into what the church is and the role of a pastor (including whether pastors should be supported financially) please let me know. I think it just feels good to type this and get it off my chest. Well, back to working on starting a "church", whatever that means. | | |
