Poor Time Management Skills? College ain't gonna take it.

How's your time management?  I hope it's good.  It's important.  It's something I've been working on a lot lately.  I definitely need good time management skills if I ever want to go to college.  Or if I ever want to do anything else at all successfully.  There are so many ways that good time management skills can help you along the road of life.

College is coming very quickly for me.  Too quickly.  Next year, actually.  It's kind of odd, thinking that some of my friends have already been in college for a year or more.  I definitely aspire for good grades.  The only way to do that is to study.  Or so I've heard.   Since I don't want to feel rushed, tired, and overworked, I need good time management to make it.  That way, I can go to classes, study, and sleep.  All of which are very important.  Or so I've heard.  I might even have time to relax, occasionally, if I time myself well.
So, I guess that means I can't sleep until noon, play tons of video games, and eat a long breakfast.  I need to plan ahead.  Schedules and lists are probably good ideas.  I've already started.  I often make little reminders and to-do lists before bed.  Then I have them sticking out of my glasses case, so I don't forget them.  They definitely help me along, as I carry it around in my pocket the next day.  As long as I pace myself, write schedules and to-do lists, and make sure I have time to study, I think I'll do OK.

Time management is important!  Or so my mom tells me.

Management And You Again!

Okay.  The next part.  There are a couple of big things I read tonight.

    1. You have to chose what you want.  And in nearly everything, there are going to be trade-offs.  I deal with that every day.  I've got $60 dollars.  Do I buy a new video game or some workout equipment?  I've got thirty minutes.  Do I read, or go walking?  Do I take a shower or eat?  Stuff like that.

    2. Be a good friend/family member/community member.  If you need to do the dishes, or do laundry, it's your job and you need to do it.  Everyone else has something they need to do.  So do your part.  You're a family.  You're a symbiant circle.  Everyone scratches the other person's back.   It works the same way with friends.
As a member of a community, you have your dues, as well.  If you check a book out from the library, turn it back in before the due date.  The government provides services, so pay your taxes.  Keep your parks clean.  Use them, don't abuse them.   Stuff like that.  It's simple, so why should it be so difficult?

Creative Living - Management And You

Okay.  Time Management.  I could use this.  Definitely.

I just read a quick introduction to the chapter, really.  Save your money for things you need.  Plan ahead so you can be to places and events on time.  Don't do something you don't want or need to do, if you could be doing something else more important.  I guess there will be more later.  That's all I know right now.

If You Can Talk, You Can Write

If You Can Talk, You Can Write.  Neat book.  I like it.  It's simple, short, and to the point.  Yay for short chapters.

So far I've learned a couple of things.  Write.  Even if you don't feel like it, or think you suck, write.  So basically, blogging is a good idea.  Write about random things.  Write about your great aunt's mustache if you can't think about anything else.  So, writing about how your day is going isn't half-bad.  Maybe even some corny sci-fi novelette.  Just write.

That's really about it.  And that's two chapters.  Of course, the fact that a chapter is only two pages long may have something to do with it.

Schoolwork...Ugh...

So like...My mom is forcing me to blog random thoughts on things she's making me read for schoolwork.  Yuck.

Hmm...I've been reading How to Win Friends and Influence People.  It's a neat book.  It gives all kinds of great ways to get people to do what you want.   However, now I have to blog on it, and everything else, daily.

Today's chapter is on "Arouse in the other person an eager want."  Basically, the idea is to know what you want someone to do, then find some reason that they would want to do it.  The "transaction" has to be benificial to both people.  However simply telling someone "If you assassinate the president, you would get the experience of killing someone" probably doesn't work very well.  Of course, I don't really know.  I've never tried it. . . .
Hmmmm...An example...Influencing someone to hire you, by telling them of all of your great experience in that occupation, instead of simply telling the manger you need the job.  If you're trying to sell something, tell the person what problems the item will solve for them, don't just say you need to sell it, because you need the money.  Tell your parents that you'll whine less if they raise your allowance.  Tell a girl you'll feed her at a nice restaurant if she goes out with you.   Ya know...Stuff like that.

Okay, I think that's enough for now.
