| Pinworms, a type of nematode, infects just about 40 million Americans. The scary part is: Most people are not aware that they carry the worms. Pinworms, enterobius vermicularis (causes enterobiasis), produces perianal itching especially at night when the female worms migrate out of one's anus to lay eggs. Evidently, by itching the area, one can inhale the eggs where the cycle of self-innoculation continues. Furthermore, ingesting the eggs can easily be accomplished as one may occassionally desire to dust the bed causing dust particles, carrying the eggs/worms, to invade one's respiratory tract. The "scotch tape test" may be performed to ensure that a perianal itching is not a result of these pinworms. Think you have pinworms? Don't be alarmed, just ask your physician to prescribe to you mebendazole 100 mg tablets and you'll be worm-free!
(I'd like to call this entry: "What Eric's been learning in pharmacy school.") | | |
| The most anticipated part of my summer has passed signaling the end of, yet, another summer. Sadly, once the seventh day of September starts, my social life may dwindle down to occassionally enjoying a movie or two as compared to my previous schedules of clubs, bowling, and bars at all hours of the night. Alas, I promised myself that the consuming of alcholic beverages shall cease until a break of some sort occur. One can argue, however, that the promise I made will easily be broken due to my habitual routine established late last semester, thus, perhaps I may need to correct the wording of the promise: no heavy consumption of alcholic beverages during pharmacy school...
Orientation of pharmacy fell on the first of September. I've never been the person to get excited over orientations (or at least I've determined this from my experience of orientation day for my undergraduate schooling). I barely knew the time the orientation started and had to check hours before it. As I know, I'm one of the few students that is unprepared - haven't submitted my immunization records nor have I complete my HIPAA training. Err...I should be more on top of things...another resolution once school starts...how many more do I have to make...a list perhaps will do...
I'm out...my eyes can barely stay open...damn the combination of fall allergies and cold...

| Okay. To everyone who actually, from time to time, checks my xanga page, I apologize for my lack of contribution and dedication (not to mention a special thanks to Cindy Kam for updating my xanga).
As you all know, I am only a couple of weeks away from my travel plans to the city that never sleeps, with breath-taking visuals of the city skyline and, of course, the delicious food. Thailand is also calling my name and the names of my companions who are joining me in my adventure(s) before having to permanently settle down once school starts. However, a rather unfortunate incident happened to one of my fellow travelers a couple of weeks ago. Nicholas Allen Berger was hit by a car in Minneapolis after attending the Primus concert. The car was going 35 mph and amazingly enough, Nick only had minor tendons and ligament damages - although enough to prevent him from going to Hong Kong. He and I had been planning this trip for several years...

Just an update on Eric's life... some of you may know, and some of you may not. He is still recovering from his ACL surgery - which i know, he is doing much better. I talked to him last night after he played some bball. He 's not exactly running a marathon or anything, but is more flexible than he was before. *clap clap*
He's also planning to go to China this year - err, HK and somewhere else? i forgot. har har. Either way, he's going overseas. THis guy is so lucky to be able to just travel. One day, I will do the same. My traveling has begun as well, but not as extensively as eric's.
So to all you MN and CA ppl - and whoever else checks Eric's site... this is his short update for now.
