Well...

I haven't exactly written on this thing for quite a while, but I suppose I have a couple of things to report from la vie de David.  First off, thank you to everyone who came to "Twelfth Night" it was a blast, and I hope you all enjoyed it.  Second, here's a little something for you all:

Muahuahua!

Summer's approaching, and I shall greet it with open arms.  I need vacation so darn bad right now.

"What to think on't? To be COUNT MALVOLIO!!!"

HOOOORAAAYYYY!!!  THE CAST POSTING WAS TODAY!!!

And judging by my capitalizations and the above quote, yes, I got the role of "Malvolio".  cha-ching.  w00t.

I have nothing else to say, except that I think that this show is going to be absolutely amazing.

After all, you will see me in yellow tights.  And cross gartered, too!

'Tis but fortune, all is fortune...

Auditions for Twelfth Night were today.  Fortunately, I got called back, and if it's what I think the situation is, the directors have no idea who they want in certain roles.  Almost everyone who auditioned today got called back for tomorrow's "cold readings" audition.  Fortunately, I do better with those...I do hope it goes well.

I've also kind of tried picking up the guitar lately.  So far, just fiddling around, but I hope to be able to play some of my dad's old music books soon.  Strangely enough, not being in band has made me want to expand my musical options.  I kind of...no, I really like this freedom to actually feel motivated to play the music I want.  I thought I'd miss the Bass Clarinet......hmmm....not so much.

Hmm...what else is new in my life?  Winter Formal was last weekend...full of "chicken 'n cornbread" songs...pshhh...they don't even deserve that title....   Other than Westside being infested with hormonally overcharged teenage morons, it was a decent dance.  Okay....so the dance itself was kind of a flop.  But as for the evening as a whole, it was very, very nice.

"The Prestige" just came out to DVD...yay.  That's pretty much what's going to occupy my Friday.  Among other things.....play casting, drive test, oh...and...hmmm...there's one girl in particular...can't quite think of the name....let's see here.....

"There are three parts to every magic trick...the first part, the pledge, is when the magician shows the audience an ordinary, everyday object.  The second part, the turn, is when the magician takes that ordinary object, and turns it into something extraordinary......"

"Tonight...I'm gonna have myself...a real good time...."

Yeah...so this Winter Formal, I've gotten a band together to play "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen.  It's going to be positively amazing...that is...if we all have time to get together and practice.  Soon....hopefully.

Yeah, but the arrangement should look something like this:

Keyboard/vocals---David (me, in case you didn't know...stupid wench)

Vocals---Ben Tape

Guitar---Ryan Thompson

Bass Guitar---Paul Klopping

Trapset---James Reynolds

I hope all goes well.  I got the sheet music ordered online for piano, but it isn't the arrangement that is played by Freddie Mercury on the recorded version, so I had to rip a midi file with a music transposing application to get viewable notes.  Darn you, Hal-Leonard publishers!!!

We're still thinking of an adequate band name....I was thinking "The Flaming Unicorns"...but then there's the gay innuendo...yeah...thanks, Queen.

Yup...so that's David's life concern right now....along with many other (in the long-run) pointless things.

"I'm burning through the sky, yeah.  200 degrees, that's why they call me Mr. Fahrenheit..."

One week down...

This FULL week of school wasn't awful, but it was packed/crammed with assignments.  My semester grades were just what I had hoped, and life is treating Mr. Smith quite well right now.  These signs should point to David being happy, but that's not really the case.  My dog has been on a turbulent streak of illnesses since 3 years ago, each bringing her further, and further down in her health.  It turns out to be something really strange, and then it gets treated.  This darn dog has put us through so much grief.  Lately, though, she's been kind of...well, just lifeless.  Last night, we thought we were going to have to put her down.  This morning however, she sprang back up into her "normal" self again.  We joke about her being "Lazarus", but then again, what else can you expect from a 17.5 year old dog?  Yes, she's "just" a dog, but I've known her all of my life.  When she kicks off,  the house will seem so empty.

She's sprung back from cancer, west nile virus, a bladder infection, and numerous other "bugs".

Aside from that, my weekend has been...well...wonderful so far.  I've successfully introduced Shelly to "Seinfeld", and some rather witty "Monty Python" sketches.

And now for Children's Storytime.

"Hello children...hello...."

The prospect of college has started to worry me.  Allegedly, I'm going to be visiting several campuses over spring break and/or intersession, and I'm kind of dubious about that.  I don't know what I want to do, moreover, I don't want to lose some amazing people in my life.  I know it will be a smooth transition, but that doesn't really comfort me right now.  Ah well.  Such is life.
