| So ... once again no one really answered my question about what makes the salvation army a church ... is it really that difficult? well ... in my observation of a salvation army corps, I don't think the Corps is made to be ran by only a pair of officers. As we all know it takes more than just the pastor to run the church, it takes a team, a community. so i asked myself, "so why does the army recruit cadets to train for two years and then send them off to run a corps? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to send a team of officers to stablize and expand a corps? (of course this would be a long-term project)" Some will say the shortage of officers ... yada yada yada ... but at the Western Terriorial Commissioning, it was stated that theres like 600 something or approximately that number of people waiting to be accepted into training school. Man, the world of the salvation army ... i seem to discover something new and interesting and mind-bobbling every time. i dont know whether to sympathize or to awe in fascination. hmmm ... a church? a christian organization? both? whatever we choose to call it, we are a body of people that governs itself. okay i had to take a moment and ponder on that last sentence above over again. i'm stuck on it so ... i'll leave room for comments ... | | |
