PIBs So after a long break from xanga posting, im being forced to blog. Its ok though because i may actually have something interesting to say this time, an idea. Some inspiration came to josh k and i tonight. Here it is: So you know how whenever you go to a hotel there is usually a Bible in the nightstand drawer? This is so, you know, just in case anyone felt compelled to, they could pick it up and read it. I was thinking about this and trying to put myself in the shoes of a non-christian, or someone who's never read the Bible, and i tried to think about what might happen if the said person did decide to pick up the Bible and read it. Well, lets hope they don't open up to the book of Numbers (Elizur son of Shedeur; Shelumiel son of Zurishaddaj; Nahshon son of Amminadab etc.) or maybe even Revalations (the seven angels with the seven trumpets and the seven seals and a lot of confusing symbolism). I began to realize how confusing the Bible could be without a proper guide. Even many christians dont know where to look in the Bible for help without the aid of a pastor. How are hotel guests expected to find any bit of inspiration? I mean its in there, of course, but the trouble is finding it. What they need is a Biblical roadmap, so to speak. Some kind of guide that highlights important information that they need to know (i.e. that god loves them, that jesus died for them, that there is no hope for salvation except thru jesus). So.... Josh and I devised a way to make these Bibles more useful to everyday people. we are going to create a special guide for people to get the basic info out of the Bible that they need using Post-Its. On the front of the Bible we'll put a post-it saying "Curious? go to page 1304" (or something like that to catch their attention). This will lead them to a very important scripture verse that will be highlighted (such as John 3:16) on the page. Another sticker on this page might say "Want to know more? turn to page 588" which would have another scripture highlighted. This could go on and on for as long as necessary. We would also include a page of local churches and their phone numbers and addresses in case the PIBs (Post-It Bible) really caught their interest. + =
So does it sound cool? Let know what you think. |
