The NEW 7 Wonders of the World
If you haven't already heard, the WORLD is voting on the "New 7 Wonders of the World." Please go HERE and vote now! You have less than 1 day to vote! The results of the world wide votes will be revealed this Saturday in Lisbon, Portugal. Here are my top 7 wonders that I think should win:
1. Pyramids (Egypt)
The only surviving original 7 wonders of the world. This one is a no brainer! Guaranteed to be on the list. I don't think they're even allowed to vote this one in or out, because they already established that it is in.
2. Acropolis (Greece) One of the oldest ruins in the world. Just by sheer age, size, and condition, this is almost a no brainer. It would be an unspeakable injustice to not have this on the list.
3. The Great Wall (China) The engineering, size, and the man power it took to build this is so incredibly ridiculous that it speaks for itself. I mean, this IS the only man made object visible from outer space! Sick.
4. Colosseum (Italy) The only "wonder" that I've seen in my top 7. Did you know that originally the Coliseum was made up of 100% white marble? Imagine how much more beautiful it would have looked back when it was first built. Too bad they took 95% of the marble over the years to build the Vatican! For some reason I keep wanting to say, "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius..."
5. Manchu Picchu (Peru) One of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the modern era. How awesome would it be to stand 7700 feet above sea level?
6. Petra (Jordan) Marveled for it's architecture as well as location. Built purposefully to be protected and to be undisclosed. Perhaps you might've seen it in "Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade?"
7. Stonehenge (England) How did it get there? Who brought it there? So many questions. So much mystery. So much power.
One day, I'll visit them all...
Honorable Mentions:
- Angkor Wat (Cambodia) Perhaps you've seen it in "Mortal Combat?"
- Taj Mahal (India) Nice house.
- Statues of Easter Island (Easter Island) Not as impressive as other statues, but too much mystery around them to ignore.
Things that should NOT be under consideration:
- Eiffel Tower (France) Nothing against the Eiffel Tower (or France). I've seen it and it's spectacular. But no comparison to any of my top 7.
- Statue of Liberty (USA) Nothing against New York, but c'mon. How are you gonna say that this is one of the 7 wonders of the WORLD?!
- Sydney Opera House (Austrailia) Stop. No way. Shut up.
