| Ribs, Red Checkered Tablecloths, Lemonade, Fireworks, & Playing Frisbee Barefoot in the Grass The fourth of July. What a perfect day for ribs. Which is exactly what we had for "Linner." It had this great BBQ sauce on it from Charleston, South Carolina. Mm mm mm. =] <3 I later intend to watch some fireworks. I might even set some off myself. But alas, Nicole is not here. She is in Colorado. =[ [**notice my patriotic colors :)] ____________________________________________ to bee or not to bee I've heard it said, "If you do not bother bees, they will not sting you." I beg to differ. Bees are very troublesome things. I wonder why God made them---besides the fact that they pollenate flowers. But why couldn't God allow a more pleasant bug, let's say the butterfly, to pollenate plants? ---thus have no reason to keep the bee... And the June Bug for instance---it's purpose...perhaps to fly aimlessly around, bump into the flood lights in the backyard, and get stuck in the swimming pool's drain...?? hmm. A bothersome moth was trapped in our house earlier this week. It brilliantly chose to land on an artificial plant in the Piano Parlor. Nice move Mr. Moth. or maybe it was a Mrs. Moth....anyways..... My mother, who i believe keeps the Raid Company in business because of our constant supply of Raid, pulled out the trusty bottle of Raid (bug killer in spray form) and after a few sprays, sent the moth to moth heaven. May he r.i.p.

| CrayolasMy Colorful Life.....As a Crayon Box??? I relate my class to a box of crayons: Some are sharp, some are pretty, and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but we all have to live in the same box. | | |
| Undercurrent"I was wondering the other day, why it is that we turn pop figures into idols? I have a theory, of course. I think we have this need to be cool, that there is this undercurrent in society that says some people are cool and some ppl aren't. And it is very, very important that we are cool. So, when we find somebody who is cool on television or on the radio, we associate ourselves with this person to feel valid ourselves. And the problem I have with this is that we rarely know what the person believes whom we are associating ourselves with. The problem with this is that it indicates there is less value in what ppl believe, what they stand for; it only matters that they are cool. In other words, who cares what I believe about life, I only care that I'm cool. Because in the end, the undercurrent running through culture is not giving people value based upon what they believe and what they are doing to aid society, the undercurrent is deciding their value based upon whether or not they are cool." ---Don Miller in Blue Like Jazz _________________________ See I John 5:21
"Little Children, keep yourself from idols. Amen." Now this verse is directed to the ppl in the Bible days. And obviously John was reminding them to stay away from idols i.e. Statues made of stone, gold, other metals, etc... But this may also apply to us when it comes to our "idols." Not statues, persay, but things that distract us from our walk with the Lord. This may be the internet, the television, or even a book that replaces your reading of God's word. Now, don't get me wrong. I enjoy watching TV and chatting w/ my friends on the internet and reading books. I do all of the activities on a weekly, if not daily, basis. But just look on TV...how many shows on TV are uplifting? Yes, some and most are funny, but do you really get a biblical or moral lesson from it? Do you and your friends on the internet talk about uplifting things on the internet. Probably not. I'm not saying this to be in-your-face or anything. It was a check I had to do for myself. I am as much guilty of this as anyone else. Just Check yourself. Are you keeping "yourself away from idols?" Just a thought. =) Any thoughts from the readers?? =) Please, do tell. | | |
