Ok, so there was an explosion in my new apartment. Let me explain:

Dinner is starting to get a little boring...we pretty much eat the same things all the time because my cooking skills are limited. Because of this, I decided that I would try something new. I called my mom and asked her how to make fried chicken...it sounded easy enough so I thought I'd try it.

So apparently when you make fried chicken you are supposed to put 1 inch of vegetable oil in a sauce pan. I did...and then put the burner on high so it would start to boil like it's supposed to. Oddly enough, it didn't start boiling...it started smoking. So I called my mom and she said that I probably didn't have enough oil in the pan and to just put some more in it. So I did...and it didn't help. It just started smoking more. Because of this, I decided that I would just give up. So I turned the burner off, moved the oil filled sauce pan, and opened up the windows to clear the huge amount of smoke. Kris decided that we would just go out to dinner, since we were both really hungry and sick of trying to cook.

So then the question arises..."What do we do with all this oil?" Well, we both knew that we weren't supposed to dump it down the sink, so we decided that we would dump it in the trash can. The oil was too hot though, so Kris said, "Well, let's just cool it off with some cold water, then we'll dump it in."

APPARENTLY WATER AND HOT OIL DO NOT MIX!!!!!!

It started growling at me...then it proceeded to get bigger. I knew this was not a good sign. So i screamed, and ran to a corner and got into the fetal position. Kris dropped the pan in the sink and ran to the other side of the room...after being burnt by the grease. I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN EXPLOSION LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE! It was like a bomb! The hot grease was flying EVERYWHERE. I was trapped in the corner until the stupid thing calmed down.

So yeah, try cleaning up this grease explosion. It's not easy...and it made my apartment stinky and slippery...my pooooooor brand new apartment. Also, poor Kris' arm has blisters all down it.

The moral of the story....NEVER put water in hot oil. NEVER!!!

Ok so I apparently go through xanga phases. Lol...It seems that I can't stay away long.

I really miss all of my Trevecca friends. Everyone is getting ready for college, or moving in, and it's really making me miss all of you a lot.

On the flip side, married life is great! We moved into our new apartment on the first of August, and I ordered my furniture last week. It's starting to feel like home...I just need some where to sit...like a couch...lol. I can't wait until it arrives. I also get to keep Cayenne in the apartment! This makes me happy!

I start my new job as a Teacher's Aid at a preschool on the first of September. I'm really excited. Tuesday and Thursday mornings I will be working with the 2 yr olds, and in the afternoons I will be working with the 4 year olds. Then MWF I will be working with the 3 year olds. It seems like a great job...except you're not allowed to put them in time-out. Guess I gotta find a new form of discipline for 4 year olds.

Ok well, I'm out. Check for updates.

Love you all!
